Thanks for another great video. I'm glad to see both smiling and enjoying yourselves rather than being stressed over mechanical issues. Have a safe week of sailing
I do really enjoy these sailing videos, thanks so much! One request would be a bit more detail on how you're managing resources like electricity and water; are solar and batteries (and the newly repaired water maker) doing the job? Has it been necessary to run the engines to charge batteries? Are you able to get aircon and/or hot showers? Cheers, and thanks again for the update! Safe travels on to Phuket.
This is the way I remember correct usage for home and hone: Hone is a sharpening technique, so you hone the edge of a knife. Thus, you can hone your sailing skills. When a person wants to narrow their target, they home in on their destination or goal.
You are in my favorite part of the world. I’m retiring to SE Asia in January and I couldn’t be more excited. Beautiful scenery, beaches and people. I’m going to start in the Philippines but Malaysia and Thailand are on my list.
The smile on y'all's faces at sunset was as beautiful as the sunset itself. So glad to see all the stresses of acquiring Ruby Rose II behind you...but now the stresses of shipping her to The Med...Love you guys
Transporting a boat on a cargo ship is very convenient when you are on a schedule. It's nice that the subscribers pay for the Med trip. This will give Nick & Teresa some free time away from the stressful sailing life.
Congrats! I used to follow many sailing channel, then down to 3, and now down to 1. I am so glad you guys are back on the water. Looking forward to the Med.
I really missed the long sailing videos even if you aren't sure you enjoy it. Seems like everyone has new boats and minimal sailing as they test them out and deal with the related repairs. Watching the ocean and the sails is so relaxing.
Another great video. Seeing how beautiful it is around Thailand and Malaysia is I wonder why you wouldn’t spend 6 months or a year in the area. Seems there would be plenty to see and very interesting content
Can’t believe you’re not spending time in the Perhentian islands (your first Malaysian landfall). The people there are amazing friendly and the food is so good. The anchorages around both Perhentians islands are so beautiful and the snorkeling is superb. To anchor one night and move on is missing out on so much. You bought this boat to explore and yet you’re missing out on some of the coolest cruising grounds in the world. I just don’t get it.
That sun isn't scorching you because you in Asia...lol That super hot ultraviolet light is beating the schtick out of us here in Florida too! You can cook a vampire instantly in that light...poof!
The Malaysian peninsula looks quite narrow - you should have got your beach bucket and spade out and dug across to create a sea-level canal right up the top end... easy!
Your main sheet where it attaches to the end of the boom looks like cumbersome over sized shackles. Or was it an optical illusion? Love the boat. Looks very comfortable and fast. Cheers
According to Merriam Webster's dictionary, hone in or home in can be used, but home in does a better job of conveying your idea. As a rule of thumb, if you write the sentence and need the phrase “in on” after the verb, it's most likely “home.” If not, you probably need to use “hone.”
I was reminded that nick is a good and safe skipper, like yourself. He apologised (unnecessarily) for putting a reef in. But I do recall him on RR1 on the ARC saying “we clip on”, “your watch relief expects to find you onboard”. Solid words.
How do the company who owns the ship carry your Ruby Rose 2 is she dismantled in part, or do they put her in a carrier . I'm just trying to visualise her passage .😁
How much does shipping to the Med cost? I am pondering going the other way. Is it based on LOA or displacement or LOA times Beam or what? A ballpark price would do as I am in the mulling it over with a bottle of wine stage. Thanks.
As a fan, I'm not much of a sailor, but I don't understand why you ship your boat to the Mediterranean instead of sailing there. I follow some sailors from the Mediterranean who sail all over the world. As a Mediterranean family, we would love to show you around Israel.
Hi Guys I'm really interested in shipping my cat to the Med as well can you please give me some details? Company and ballpark cost? I would really appreciate it 🙏 thanks
Just a question. You are on an off shore passage. Yet it appears compliancency has set in, as there is no evidence of safety gear such as man-overboard AIS. The question: are conditions so placid that this is not a concern?
@@johnmayer3433 No I am not. Nick has been an advocate for safety gear which makes the practice displayed at odds with his stated goals. Put another way, How long can Nick swim for, at night, without his offshore life jacket on, whilst Terysa looks for him?
Why are you going back to the med on a ship….not to mention the expense? Do you not want to circumnavigate the planet ? …. Or is it a bridge to fare for you two. Very disappointing….easier to jump a ship I guess…. Maybe Nick just can’t shake the Med…home land etc, etc. at some point he needs to step out of his trench and experience the world!
If you had watched previous episodes, you would know that they made an informed and rational decision based on the current state of affairs in the western Indian Ocean. The kind of rational decision every captain worth his salt will make everyday on a boat. Make the correct decision for you, don’t bow to peer pressure. Especially from people that have zero stake in the game!
Love watching sailing videos that focus on sailing versus destinations.
Watch Eric the viking then

HUGS you two........ love seeing the pair of you looking soooo happy!! Now onto watching the rest of the vid!
Ruby Rose II is a gorgeous boat on sail.

Groovy, cool episode
Finally a touch of champagne sailing for you two!!! Well deserved
Great vid guys. It's good to see both your confidence going up each day on adjusting to the new boat.

Beautiful sunset! I enjoyed watching this episode. I am always amazed by how you guys work together and enjoy your life.
Thanks for taking me along!😊😊
You two are great. Thank you for leting me travel somewhat with you. Love from OsoYolo, from Antigua Guatemala.

May your mechanical issues be behind you, and may the Med be all you hope it will be!
Brilllllliant RR2 - amazing adventure - thanks for sharing ⛵️ 👍
It was an amazing blaze at the end, there. Can't wait for next week!

Really enjoyed watching!
Well done.
4:33 To home in is to move toward, to hone is to sharpen. You could be honing your sailing skills while homing in on your destination.
Great video!
The sunset was a 10.
Honing in on (to find and go directly toward)
Selamat datang ke Malaysia!! 😀
welcome to my country..

Would love a little context about boat speed comparing RR1 vs RR2 in similar wind speeds and angles.

That was a beautiful sunset, really quite spectacular.
Don't you have rope cutters on the prop-shafts?
Given that you plan on sailing in the Med, so you plan on adding line cutters to your prop?
Do you sleep watch better with waves tossing head to toe, or shoulder to shoulder?
Beautiful edit, thanks for sharing. -EZ
Mmmm pain chocolate my fave with an espresso
Another beautiful episode. Comparison of mono vs cat sailing for multiple days with just the two of you? Less tired on RR@?
I am wondering the same. How would a say 50ft HR compare to your cat for a couple?
Im assuming your container ship will avoid going through suez canal?

Can you load your boat onto the ship with full fuel tanks?
Welcome to Malaysia. Will your guys be in penang?
So Nick lets see the crazy machine builds assuming that is Breath of Wind on Switch….
Hahahaah. It was prince of Persia

It seems like your videos are less active than before. I’m seeing a lot of b roll and no story. Just wondering what’s changed. 😢
so you buy a new boat and have a sailing channel but you cant be bothered sailing to the med?,take it through the suez if your scared
