"Masks of Evil" was originally two 1-hour episodes and the Transylvania portion featuring Dracula was not supposed to necessarily be a series of factual events being recalled by Old Indy but rather his tongue-in-cheek telling of a ghost story of sorts. Without the bookends though, it gets taken de facto as actual experiences of Indy near the end of World War I (yet another reason I wish they'd release the series with the Old Indy bookends on DVD and BluRay).
I'm on the fence on whether or not I consider that episode canon, on one hand it's cool to see Indy fighting Dracula but on the other hand, it wasn't meant to be canon.
As I understand it, Marion’s age at the time of her initial relationship with Indy was recently retconned to be “barely 18.” Personally, I interpret her dialogue about “being a child” as metaphor for her youthful innocence at the time, if only to make the whole thing seem less creepy
fun fact, for the predator bit w/ Indiana Jones, george lucas and steven speilberg literally added it because they thought it would be funny. theres a whole conversation they had about it online
@@joshslater2426 yeah, the majority of the community dont look at it as canon as it was a thought that came from perverted men. PLUS, canonically, it was retconned in one of the books that came out for Indiana Jones.
I’m both amazed and not amazed that there’s so much trivia to the Indiana Jones series beyond the five films (and yes there are five films, don’t pretend there aren’t). Temple of Doom’s my favourite.
On the "Indy is a predator" bit, to be clear this is only by modern standards, at the time that wouldn't have been that uncommon. Further, she was conically just barely 18 at the time, as it was retconned in a lore guide book in the early 2000s.
2:34 so technically that’s false it wasn’t George who liked the scream it was a audio tech who loved the scream and mixed it into the film in post and everyone liked it so he got recognized for it
Not really sure what the relationship between Marion and Indy initially was. But maybe Indy losing his virginity to Mata Hari had something to do with him being that way. Indy was 17 and Mata Hari was 40 at the time. It doesn't make it right. I guess to soften the situation perhaps Marion had a huge crush on Indy, and he eventually humored her (lets pray not full on sexually) and her father chased him off. Her father then convinces her that he was grooming her. It's a screwed up situation and one that should've never been added to the story.
This is a great video in very informational but I found that Indiana Jones being a predator is ridiculous and also some of those movie ideas will turn out to be good movies in my opinion
I didn't mention him because I talked more about his performance in my Young Indy Video. I also didn't make a specific entry for Sean Patrick Flannery so I didn't think it was necessary.

Thank you!! That means a lot coming from a big channel like you.

Wow, funny joke 😑 I laughed when I heard Indian Jones was a predator
@@thebrokenhanger2007 that's what I'm saying. I don't understand how they thought it would've been funny and "promiscuous"
I try not to think about it. The important thing is that Indy learned from his bad treatment of Marion and did try to be nicer towards women.

Before reading the replies I thought you were talking about the movie Predator
I consider the Titanic adventure cannon because Indy's dad has a ticket for the Titanic in his Grail Diary.
@@ChristopherPiskorz Really? I never noticed that.
Awesome video, I never knew about a lot of this actually and really enjoyed sticking all the way through it. Thanks!
@@AerixArtGames Happy you enjoyed it.
This video is amazing and I couldn’t wipe my smirk away the editing is great also thank you for the moment at 3:50
Thank you!! Means a lot.
@@LaggingLeland no thank you king!
There's actually a canon guide book that states that Marion was 18 and not 15.
I thought Disney changed it to 17 tbh iv lost count of her age

Temple Of Doom is an underrated gem.... far better than the over-rated and boring Crusade flick.
Great job!
Thanks Waxy.
Incredibly awesome video!
It's impossible not to love this franchise.
@@giuseppebovo6337 Thank you!!
Great job man !
Appreciate it!
No hatin but why this guy sounds like Jonah hill from Superbad
As to Indy's character arc, even in raiders he's a bit scummy, in the very opening he's stealing the idol of the Hovitos
Cool, man! Thank you for this!
Wonderful video! Thanks!
@@GreatBooksGuy You’re welcome!!
7:20 actually Han has been on Earth and for years it was cannon xd

nice iceberg!
Thank you!
I have those explorer books lol😂
W video man
@LaggingLeland, I was curious what video game those scenes you have in the iceberg is from.
Most of them are from Emperors tomb and some from Staff of Kings
This is a great video in very informational but I found that Indiana Jones being a predator is ridiculous and also some of those movie ideas will turn out to be good movies in my opinion
Appreciate it! And yeah I agree with you.
Raiders doesn't have an "original title", that's the title, whatever Lucas/Spielberg want to make happen.
Which game are the in between sequences from ? it looks cool
Rise of The Tomb Raider and Uncharted 4.
@@LaggingLeland Thank you old boy !
Ok what is the source for Marian and Indy's ages when they first met and got together? you calim 27 and 15, but what is the source for that?
Lucas and Spielberg, they are some official statements and some interviews they've had.
Shame that the iceberg didn’t mention the Indy build of tomb raider 10th anniversary edition
@@dokkyun_heart I made the iceberg, never heard of it.
the title Indiana Jones and the lost world is most likely a reference to the Sir Arthur Conan Dolye book the lost world
*Conan Dolye's also the lost world is his 1912 book*
hello, i have the book of indiana jones and the dance of giant, it exists i also have the book of indiana jones ion the titanic
