Regarding The Black Phone: It's implied both in the short story and in the movie that his brother is not usually in the house. He says "everything's different this time." His brother also says that he's only staying with him for a little while and usually lives and works somewhere else. Kidnapping and preparing to kill anyway also reveals a compulsion, something many serial killers have spoken about experiencing. Also many serial killers have led double lives for years without getting caught by people who knew them very well or maybe even lived with them, so that's not unbelievable either. The disturbing part about that is that it's almost too believable because it's happened a lot. We also don't know that his brother was there before he kidnapped Finney; he may have kidnapped him and then the next day, when The Grabber comes downstairs, is when the brother may have come over. That's also when he tells Finney "everything is different now". (I can't remember exactly what he says but it's one of those.) He also fell asleep on watch because he had been waiting for Finney to try to escape at that point for like three days and had been awake the entire time. Listing that as a fault of being unprepared shows that the writer of this article didn't watch the movie.
kind of agree. I do think the grabber was unprepared for Finny to fight back in the manner that he did (setting a trap in what appeared to be a bare room). he had already taken out a few kids that we saw to be tough and good fighters...finny was scrawny and meek in comparison so grabber likely didn't see him as a threat. the movie hinted that the brother had only recently moved in temporarily and was mostly coked up (and likely only came to the house to eat and sleep before going out again) so he wouldn't be too aware of the goings on around the house.
Not to mention, some of those boys before Finney were quite menacing; wild eyes pinball Roger Daltrey kid was kind of terrifying. If not for Finney's Gift w/that phone, he very likely would have made all the mistakes the others did. It is very obvious the writers of this video didn't really watch the movie. Most likely, Prey's Predator is basically a school kid. The ones in the first AVP are also underprepared, because they're teenagers. They have to EARN the plasmacaster. This one is even unfamiliar with the speargun's workings, implying that it's not even ready for a proper Xenomorph hunt. It's given less advanced tech, because it's not proven itself worthy of more advanced tech.
I like your point. My only counter is the shield by introducing that tech one would believe they would have improved on that tech destroying potentially the second movie due to caliber.
Sir Pat as a horror antagonist? I'll be checking that one out ASAP. And honestly, Tarantino levels of bloodshed might improve most of my family reunions.
I would also like to add another entry. It involves another disabled girl. There is a Korean movie where a hedonistic serial killer goes about killing people. Not only is he sadistic, he is also smart. When he come across a simple deaf and mute girl, he thought it was easy picking for a girl with disabilities. It was a surprise how the girl managed to outfox the sadistic psychopath. Not only did she escape his murderous attempts on her life, but she also managed to bring the hubris in him as she put the end to his psychopathic killings. Edit: I know this movie is a thriller and drama, but I think it's worth mentioning. Edit: The movie name is Midnight.
I feel like Corey Cunningham would qualify for this list. Man actually thought he could steal the mask of one of the most dangerous killers in horror without consequences. Then he broke into Laurie's house, the woman who survived two encounters with Michael Myers, lived like a doomsday prepper for 40 years, and has been suspicious of him since he started dating her granddaughter. He not only thought he could take out Laurie Strode, but actually thought she would commit suicide after everything.
I think Hush was a good movie overall, it had an interesting premise and was shot well, but I wish the killer kept his mask on. I understand the logic, she can't speak or call for help, so it doesn't matter if she sees his face, but to an audience it's a little unfortunate that the killer is just some dude instead of a masked assailant.
I feel like you don't give Finney enough credit lol people in the comments have said it better than I can but what I gathered from the movie was that the grabber thought finn would be easy prey and through the ghost kids, finn outsmarted the grabber and didn't give the man a chance to 'come back from the dead' as many killers do in horror movies when he, a preteen, brutally strangled him to death. Yes, the grabber was unprepared but not because of many things on his side (his brother could have come by after taking finn but also many people have lived with killers who had people in the basement and never knew for YEARS, the grabber fell asleep cause it was like day three of staying up all night waiting for finn to come upstairs, etc.), more because he didn't expect finn to be as brutal and smart as he was (plus the ghost boys). Anyway, would love everyone in the comments to comment their favourite thriller/horror/slasher movies where the killer/antagonist gets absolutely bodied by the protagonist. I wanna have a movie marathon and I like justice/revenge :)
The Predator in Prey was getting wrecked by Naru's brother until it decided to cloak. It handled the French hunters pretty easily but it was woefully unprepared to fight anyone with a modicum of close quarters skill.
The Liberal Elites from The Hunt: Instead of grabbing a tweaker named Crystal. They Grabbed, Crystal a former member of the USMC female engagement team who served in Afghanistan. She then picks them off one by one including their leader Athena
There is a actual good answer to Purge as yo why they don't have the guns. Guns are expensive. And most Purgers are normally the lower class angry at the upper. Hence why Hawks character not only having a house with security measures but the aforementioned shotgun having the remington brand new add on "Chainsaw" handle.
Haven't most of the Purge films focused on the upper class slaughtering the lower class for fun? The whole film was because some rich kids were chasing a guy into an affluent neighborhood and Hawke's kid let him in the house defenses. Even then, the Purgers only found out because Hawke's neighbors were trying to get Hawke's family killed by telling the purgers where the guy was. Ethan Hawke's character had security measures because he was the guy who's job it was to sell security for people who wanted to survive the purge and had the money to afford high end defenses.
I wish horror movie villains were produced more like this at times, especially the ones with the "tragic backstory". Like come on, how did you learn fighting hand-to-hand when you were a orphan for most of your lifes years?
I'd put Coraline's Other Mother on here because Coraline doesn't just escape, she prevents the Beldam from taking any more victims and frees her previous ones

Sir Pat as a horror antagonist? I'll be checking that one out ASAP.
And honestly, Tarantino levels of bloodshed might improve most of my family reunions.
Another good video
Edit: The movie name is Midnight.
i would like to know the name.
A Korean movie is a vague description for something you wanted to include. What is the title of the film?
I feel like Corey Cunningham would qualify for this list. Man actually thought he could steal the mask of one of the most dangerous killers in horror without consequences. Then he broke into Laurie's house, the woman who survived two encounters with Michael Myers, lived like a doomsday prepper for 40 years, and has been suspicious of him since he started dating her granddaughter. He not only thought he could take out Laurie Strode, but actually thought she would commit suicide after everything.
Issac Crowner and the kids from children of the corn. They couldn’t take down the 2 adults even though they were very outnumbered
I think Hush was a good movie overall, it had an interesting premise and was shot well, but I wish the killer kept his mask on. I understand the logic, she can't speak or call for help, so it doesn't matter if she sees his face, but to an audience it's a little unfortunate that the killer is just some dude instead of a masked assailant.
dude Kristy is SO GOOD and it’s so unheard of. I recommend this movie to everyone because no one has ever heard of it.
well done!
Classics are I Spit On Your Grave and Last House On The Left :)
Love the Archer reference
Hush is an underrated movie
Ready or Not
The Predator in Prey was getting wrecked by Naru's brother until it decided to cloak. It handled the French hunters pretty easily but it was woefully unprepared to fight anyone with a modicum of close quarters skill.
Awesome and cool! :)
While she was out. Awesome
The Liberal Elites from The Hunt: Instead of grabbing a tweaker named Crystal. They Grabbed, Crystal a former member of the USMC female engagement team who served in Afghanistan. She then picks them off one by one including their leader Athena
Yes! Good answer. She was a great character
Emma in No One Lives was a badass too.
Becky and The Blind Man… which by the way, that sounds like an amazing movie title.
The sheriff and his gang in "I spit on your grave". They were far from ready for their victim's wrath.
No One Lives is a classic underrated film.
‘Don’t Breathe’ is the ultimate example of the genre.😉
His brother showed up unannounced in Black Phone.
The Predator was ready for a hunting... It was not ready for a fight :D
The army guys in 28 days later weren’t prepared for Cillian Murphy’s character.
The people from Don’t Breath should’ve been on this list
I love Hush!
Final Girl: These guys lure a girl to the woods to kill her, and she ends up being a highly trained assassin.
Rose the Hat was completely taken unawares by the Overlooks ghosts. She should have realized what was going when Danny offered himself as bait to both the ghosts and her.
Cybercult: proceeds to hunt christy
Christy: *I'm bout to end these mens whole career*
honorable mention: Rose the Hat and the rest of the True Knot from Doctor Sleep. None of them Abra and Danny to actually be able to fight back and kill them off.
I don't think any more preparation was going to help them against Erin.
They couldn't have "done research" on her background because even her bf didn't know she grew up that way. It was incorrect of the narrator to suggest
@@alioh7615 oh yes. That's so true. Hadn't even considered that when writing this post. Was just basing it off how crazy skilled and capable under pressure and certain circumstances she was. But yeh they wouldn't have known even if they had looked into things before. Poor guys...picked the wrong night for a killing lol
No One Lives is a awesome movie!
I think the best Movie for that list would be Cabin in the woods bc the plottwist is exactly that they didnt expected what to happen
How about all of the villains in the youtube series "If Veterans Were In Horror Movies."
Violet was violent...smile
Erin Heroic Final Girl 👧
The hunters in Surviving The Game never thought a homeless bum could clean their clocks either.
