Personally I noticed immediately that the top of the pack remained the top of the pack. So the force was obvious but I was then confused about how you got it to become face up. When you then revealed that it has a different coloured back, that made it quite clear that it was NOT the same card, so it all fell into place. I think you should have used the same coloured back for the card as, the difference in the back gives away the trick.
I used to use the same kind of tricks but I let the specs shuffle at the beginning it strengthens so much the impact on those who notice that the first pile is never shuffle. How to let them shuffle ? Prepare the deck so that King is on top of the deck with 4 lower cards. Prepare 4 or 5 lower cards than King in the middle of the deck and remember the top card of the middle packet as a key card. Let the duplicate on your lap for the moment. You're set. Start by cutting the deck at the key card from the middle and let the spec do a riffle shuffle of both piles. 99% of the time the King will be on the five top cards. If not (you'll notice if the spec does a bad riffle shuffle), double undercut some cards from the top to let the king in the top 5 cards then proceed as Steve does. When they take the five cards and look at the them take the remaining two piles and insert your lapped card on these piles. No one is looking at you at this moment, focus is on the spec. Then proceed as Steve does and you have a miracle.
Thanks Steve! Question for you-do you have a good answer for someone asking you to repeat a trick when the trick is not really repeatable (due to set-up, etc.)? I usually say, “sorry, no reveals or repeats” but wondering if you have something better?
@ thanks Steve-but I don’t agree, necessarily. There have been times when a trick went very well but the in the audience were those who seek to unravel the effect (rather than just enjoy it) and so they will ask to see it again-probably in hope of “seeing how it’s done”
Most relaxed and nice magician on here. Thank you for sharing your amazing knowledge. This one will go straight into my little repertoire. Happy holidays.
Damn! Great one! The ultimate I think would be if the actual chosen blue king could actually vanish as another finisher with the deck turned over and spread showing "no other king" exists in the deck. Hummm maybe dbl sided or roughing stick would work. Gotta try it out. lol.
You should put the empty box on the table the same way as before to lower people's suspicion that there might now be something different about it (no card vs the card)
Wow, this trick at 5:40 is absolutely mind-blowing! It's incredible how simple yet effective it is. Steven Taputoro never disappoints with these crazy card tricks. Can't wait to try it myself!"
@@maartenkos98 I heard another magician say the same thing on scam school, I don't if you're familiar with those videos. I'm quite risk adverse myself but realise you gotta take some risks
Good trick, but I think it might be a little better if you do something more than just "cut and have them put their hand on the deck and then say their card." I think it may be just a little too obvious that you forced the card on them since that's the only possible explanation. Adding more stuff in between them picking the card and you saying the card makes other explanations feel possible and would make it even more amazing to a viewer.
I was thinking the same thing. Too obvious. I thought perhaps that step could be skipped entirely; after a pause and asking the spectator to think about the chosen card, just go right to the card spread with the reverse card revealed?
Well, I'm gonna give ya' the thumbs up anyway. You said, "if you like the trick give me a thumbs up". The trick is "okay". I'd have to modify it because there is no way I'm gonna give anyone that much freedom with my cards while doing a trick. I don't know about the change in color on the back. The message is okay if it's a setup. And I'm fine with the routine up to the point of having them place the cut cards on top of each other, because they might place them in the opposite order, so I think I would do that myself. And I wouldn't put the cards back into the box, there is no real reason for it, it reeks for setup. As I said, it's okay. I'd be looking for something that just flows smooth without the possibility of being derailed. But it's not bad, I could work it into smoothness. Afterall, it's all about performing the trick however it makes you comfortable and still gets the job done. Thanks for sharing.
There are dozens and dozens of YT channels that feature card control, sleights etc. I actually like that there are channels that feature so called "self working" tricks. It's good to have variety and to know where to go to get each type of trick: sleights and self working.
@@steventaputoro Yes, I am agreeing with you. When I want card sleights I go to those other channels. For self working tricks, you are one of the best!! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks Steve , not only do you do great card tricks , you have a winning personality.

That's what killed it for me was when he mentioned "think of the highest value card" which gives away there's a force if someone is paying attention
Pretty awful trick, especially forcing them to pick the highest card and then having a different colour reveal.
Fantastic trick. This is your Christmas gift to all us card magicians always hungry for new tricks. Thanks, Steve.😊
So glad I recently discovered your videos. Love your tricks and you provide very easy instructions.
thanks again for showing us your amazing card tricks

Great tricks Steve. I like you for a second reason. You look like my older son. Like, you could be twins. He
s a clever kid too! Thanks man!

I'm watching this video from London UK. Another super duper trick. More of these videos PLEASE

If you have to repeat the trick you have failed your performance in my opinion.

How would you get their name on the card without knowing them beforehand ?
Steve this a wonderful effect. Just make sure the 5 top cards do not have an Ace if you're using the Kings. 😊😊😊😊
Thanks Rob. I explain that in the tutorial 💪🏽
Awesome trick! Thanks!! Where can I get that close up mat?

Great trick, yet again! You're doing some great work, dude! Keep it up! Now, I just have to figure out what message I want to put on the card! lol
Great tutorial. I've been trying to figure out the Automatic Placement Principle. Is that what you're teaching?
The thumbnail actually showing my name on the card made the video uncanny enough for me to watch it till the end. Great channel, new subscriber here!
Fantastic trick Mr Steve really appreciate that it's really cool take care and I'll catch you on your next video your friend Billy Simmons
How would people not notice that you didn't shuffle the top pile, then just put it back on top again?

Handing the spectator the cards and having them cut and stack really seems like a high risk to reveal the flipped king.
High risk high reward 💪🏽

Can you teach us a practical card control, please?
