I had the pleasure of going to school with Dan. Not only is he a wicked smart and talented magician and showman, but one of the most hardworking, kindest, and most genuine people I’ve met. Such a stand up person who deserves all the success that comes his way.
I have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with him at the Smoke & Mirrors Magic Theater in Philadelphia. He is as kind as he is talented. In magical parlance, he has soft hands. His dexterity is effortless and poetic. Couple that with his charm and that makes him unbeatable.
Perfect. So good and such a great method for demonstration. I love seeing a true master of anything but everyone love’s slight of hand. I do rudimentary slight of hand for my 6 yr old and now near 3 yr old and the pure joy on their faces is amazing. It’s almost magical!

@@Ragnemalm ive watched hundreds of hours of card magic and have been super into magic since the 90s when I was a wee lad. What he demonstrated is an unrealistic amount of control. i love these kinds of routines.. where it's like you're teaching the audience about sleight of hand and saying exactly what you're going to do before you do it, yet it's still impressive to watch. and it's still actually VERY fooling.
When I was a kid, my best buddy's dad taught us a popular card-game and added a pretty stern warning to never play it for money - especially not with strangers. It's videos like this that make me feel good about myself for having heeded his advice... :)

But you listened to some old blue collar dude in this universe that hated his life so it never happened. Gotta go, the AltWarpX9000 is refueled. Peace.
@@ShinzoX90 Im from an alternate Universe in which you never commented this and by doing that you ultimately saved humanity from extinction because of the overarching albeit highly domino effect that caused it. Thats precisely the reason why spongebob died.
I used the word heeded today. Then I just saw your post and noticed you used it too. Heed and heeded are very rare. So it's nice seeing a fellow heed on here
I really like this type of 'honest cheating' where the magicians/ sleight of hand artists don't try to bother with the pretense of doing impossible things. I first saw this during a Penn and Teller act and have loved the style ever since. Even a poor practitioner can sell a trick as a miracle, but it takes a true master to show you every step of the method and still not reveal anything with their actions/movements. Very impressive!
That’s a really important part of my own philosophy and approach to magic, so I’m glad it comes through! I’m very upfront that some things I do are real, learnable skills, and other things I do are unreal - they are tricks and illusions. And like you said, I don’t claim for a second to have any magical powers. But I think the fun and the mystery come from the fact that I don’t tell you where the boundary is between the real and the unreal, and that’s something you get to decide for yourself. :)
There is no such thing as "honest cheating", those are two mutually exclusive meanings, just like a married bachelor. The cards are being manipulated without the other party knowing, it's cheating/lying/omission plan and simple. The opponent isn't given a fair opportunity to win. If you are playing a fighting video games and I go in and manipulate the programming code to make it so that your character always loses but don't tell you about it, than challenge you to a tournament for money and I win did I win that money honestly? Stop living in fantasy, come on back to reality. His control over the cards is very impressive though.
Such mastery, he doesn't even look at the deck most of the time. I love his smug smile. He knows he's totally fooled you, and he knows you can't figure it out. Irritating. Bravo!!!
honestly, I _do_ believe he has the skill and talent and practice to run this whole thing in one take (or live), buuuuuuuut you can't forget about all the cuts in the videos. if he's clever enough to do all of these, he's clever enough to edit out a mistake or two.
Guys its simple how he did it, he just randomly tried this a couple of quadrillions times and just showed us the recording of him randomly hitting this perfect stack, amazing himself just as much as us... I mean, that's just more believable than him being that good.
Look up Richard Turner. He did all of these tricks on national TV on a show called Fool Us. He won the Fool Us trophy, and the show hosts Penn & Teller don’t give away trophies to fakes. Oh and Richard Turner is blind...figure that one out. It baffles everyone.
Daniel Roy is unquestionably the greatest card dealer of all time! His control is absolutely astounding! Mr. Roy, you have definitely earned the smug face, dude! Bravo!
The level of physical discipline learning something like this takes is unreal. I'm barely able to do a simple coin sleight of hand trick, so this is incredibly impressive. Thank you so much for explaining this in such detail.

See, the bit that really gets me is the fact that when he finally gets to level 10, he's able to deal the suits out in order without having had to adjust them at any step before that, which means that he's saying level 1, but *doing* level 10, the whole way through... Although I suppose if you know exactly what you're doing, you know how to undo any modifications you *have* made to the order at the end, rather than having had to keep them in order the whole time. Either way, extremely impressive.
Or, level 11 "Get video editing software to cut several times for each trick so you can reorganize the cards the way you want when the camera is off and then edit the cuts out" He may well have done the sleight of hand. But learning to edit videos would be a lot easier and look identical.
These tricks, mainly the one at the end, but this entire act is very cool. to do something of the caliber though requires you to start off with a fresh unshuffled deck of course. then from there is very similar to a rubix cube. have a numbers formula but more importantly, flawless shuffling execution.
