    Thank you Michael. It is now 2021, and I have just bought a new LS300. With such a long lived model of camera, your work from way back then is still useful and appreciated now.

      Thank you for saying so. Enjoy your camera.

      I agree 100%, this is great information. I just bought an LS300 myself last year.

      @@LibertyWarrior1776 I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am. We are lucky to have purchased when we did because it is no longer available new. Such a shame that JVC never decided to develop a version 2.

    I know this post is old, but I recently acquired a LS300 and was seeking out Canon EF lens adapters. B&H had a "deal zone" special on the Vello LAE-MFT-CEFA for $99. I took the chance on it and so far... my Canon 24-105 EF lens is working! $99! Seems like good quality. Thanks for your post.

      Thanks for sharing. My kipon won't work with my canon 55-250 and I can't update the firmware anymore so I was thinking about trying something new

      @@MichaelWTurner This one "is what it is," meaning there is no USB. So, I'm assuming my $99 will only get me so far with how many lenses are compatible?

    Michael, thanks for your video. You told me EXACTLY what I needed to know. I've decided to get that Kipon for the same camera. I actually saw this video over the summer when I was researching this camera but forgot about until it started playing. Good work.

    I've been looking for an adapter to use my Sony E lenses on my JVC ls300. Does anyone know about one?

    • @chrisw443
      @chrisw443 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh jeepers.... The distance between the sensor and the e mount is a little closer than the mount on the jvc, it is literally the only set of lenses you cant use on this camera.

    • @VistarCreative

      Been looking for the same. Bummer.

      DSLR lenses are always easy to adapt to mirrorless mounts like MFT, Sony E, L Mount, etc. but lenses made for mirrorless cameras generally cannot be adapted to other mirrorless mounts. This is because an adapter is only possible where the flange distance of one system is greater than the flange distance of the intended recipient system. Consequently the flange distance of the Sony E Mount will never allow an adapter to be made that will mechanically enable E Mount to be adapted to MFT. It is just not possible, and will always be impossible.
      However, notice I said “mechanical.” It is possible to make an electronic adapter that would work, so why has no one ever brought such an adapter to market? Essentially such an adapter would work by inserting a camera sensor into the adapter, and then relaying the feed to the recipient camera. This means that the adapter would be as expensive as an entire camera, would become as bulky as a camera, and would suffer from image degradation due to the image needing to pass through two sensors and associated circuitry. In other words it would not be a viable product due to cost, size, and image quality, so no, it would never be made.
      The rule of thumb is - only DSLR lenses can be adapted to mirrorless.

    what about veltrox speedbooster, do you know if it works?

    • @MichaelWTurner
      @MichaelWTurner  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Someone in this section already said that it does not. I haven't tested it myself.

      It works in Manual. Takes a minute or two to load

    Metabones adapters and speedboosters work fine on the LS300, you just have to remove the tripod mount on the bottom of the adapter. Go with the best, you won't be disappointed.

      What lenses have you used it with, and how's the AF? Is it better than what you saw in this video? I'm honestly starting to believe that something is wrong with my camera because even when I use native MFT glass, the AF still doesn't work properly.

    • @QuicksilverSG
      @QuicksilverSG 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Nikon lenses with the Metabones adapters. Naturally, they work entirely in manual focus and aperture mode. With native Lumix lenses on the LS300, push-to-focus and continuous focus work fine with moderate and deep DOF. With shallow DOF lenses, I always switch to manual focus and rely on the LCD screen's focus peaking and magnification features.
      OIS support is more spotty, most newer lenses work but the OIS in older lenses typically isn't recognized by the LS300. It does work on the Lumix 42.5mm f1.7 and 30mm f2.8 primes, which make nice zooms with the LS300's VSM electronic zoom feature.

    Michael, i hope all is well. i had a quick question for you on the JVC. So i know it has xlr and all. Do you run your audio directly or do you go into a mixer and mixer out to camera for better control?

    • @MichaelWTurner
      @MichaelWTurner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I shoot these video, I'm running a wireless lavaliere and it is plugged directly into the xlr input on the camera. I test my levels and adjust with the audio controls on the handle. The JVC captures very good audio on its own, so I never feel the need to use an external mixer or recorder. Thank you for your question. I hope that helps.

    I find you can't trust these adaptors for auto-focus. So, ended-up buying a manual adaptor and accepting this limitation. Manual is slower but accurate.
