Wonderful photography once again and another brilliantly immersive video. Your field craft and dedication reward your enthusiasm for nature. Great tips that you share so generously. I was out photographing Shelducks early yesterday on a tidal creek near home and as I was about to leave I heard barking... suddenly a roe deer buck appeared on the far bank and I stayed 30 mins longer watching him wander along eating fresh oak leaves from the trees on the shoreline. Big smile!
Great outing Trond. Was nice that the deer cooperated with you on this adventure. I always chuckle to myself when I think that the deer have no idea I’m around, till they stop and look in my direction. Sometimes I feel lucky that they even let me take a few photos. Gotta love these kind of outings.🙂🙂🙂
Really enjoyed that video Trond. Some fantastic footage an images of the Roe Deer. I haven't photographed any Deer for a long time, I'm looking forward to the rut and hopefully being able to get out to photograph it. Take care Trond.
You spoil us every week with your great videos, where everything just ooze with commitment and enthusiasm that blend into a very exciting experience for all of us. We are already now looking forward to next Saturday. Da må du ha en virkelig bra og koselig dag i morgen på Nasjonaldagen. Ha det,Torben
Great video looking forward to getting close to deer in the New Forest Hampshire here in the UK with the lens hide I have just purchased. Having said that my best Deer photography so far were taken in the New Forest next to a caravan/campsite. Amazing photos (one featured in a double page spread in Hampshire life magazine. ) Awesome great technique to follow as always thanks for the video.
Another fantastic video Trond. Look forward each Saturday to watching your adventure. One of the BEST videos on TH-cam. Also watched your video on Fstopper. Really great to see you being exposed to a large audiance. Best wishes, stay safe. Ed/Ca.USA
I LOVE roe deer! Many of my wildlife oriented friends consider them 'normal'... But being up close, like just meters away, they amaze me every time again... In fact, I should do a roe deer vlog myself soon :D Badgers, kingfishers, owls, all cool, but roe deer never get dull :D Looking forward to your next vlog!
Brilliant as always. Do you not use your D4s much anymore. I saw you had it there. I love my D500 for birds, and I have aD850 for other stuff. I’ve really started more bird photography after watching your channel.
Thank you so much! For birds I must say that my D500 is more used. But when the light reduces I find the D4s. The one picture with the roe der female I used the D4s. Wow...thats so nice to hear. Wish your photography all the best. 👍😀
One of my favourite subjects to photograph, hopefully I’ll be in a position to get back to the Roe Deer soon:-) awesome video as always Trond and great pictures 😁👍
Lovely moments with the deer there Trond :) If I’m not too late to add a question for the Q&A video: How do you choose between taking photographs and video when you see a wildlife subject and you’re making a vlog? I find it can be really difficult to choose which one to prioritise, so I wondered whether you have a strategy for what to do..?
Great work Trond! I really like it that you show us all the facets of your adventure-trips. Short question: How can you reach this unsharp foreground? 1. Cause you lay down on the ground and the grass in front of your camera is getting unsharp? Or do you make this effect later during the picture editing? Keep going, kind regards, Leo😁
Thank you so much Leo! Its because of the grass in front. I never make that effect in post. Only in field :) Thank you so much for your support and kind words. All the best!
For about 15 years I've been trying to get a photograph of the roe deer with its head just above the wheat growing in the fields. One year I had the perfect location I had done my homework on the rough habits of the deer and I thought I was just a few days away of trying to get my perfect shot. Then the farmer harvested the wheat 😕 I Love hearing the willow warbler in the background. 20 years ago I heard them all the time but now Im lucky to hear or see two in a summer 🤔
Hi Trond ! Love your videos ! Are the full frame cameras really important to you for wildlife photography ? I'm asking myself if it's woth it to buy one. Thanks !
Thank you so much for the kind compliment. No its absolutely not important. I have used DX camera all years. Its only around 9 month since I bought full frame :)
Hi Trond. How do you get your d500 video to focus so quick. Are you using manual focus or the touch screen? I have one and the focusing system for videos not good at all
I am up nice and early this morning, its 430am and will be heading out at 5ish to get in position to photograph Fallow Deer near me. I am in Shropshire UK and love the challenge that deer are to ensure I get in and out without being noticed. Love the video and perfect to watch prior to going out. The ground blind looks easy to carry and set up, which one do you use?
What blind do you use, is this the Tragopan V6? How satisfied are you with it? What accessories do you use? Did you also use the ghillie blanket on top? Have you bought the ghillie blanket also from the tragopan shop? Sorry for so much questions. :) Greetings from Austria.
Great Video, but why aren´t you using a tripod/groundpod? I think your A-roll footage could get much smoother and better especially because you don´t have IBIS in a DSLR.
Tusen takk for hyggelig tilbakemelding. Jeg har Runde på lista mi. Så satser på å få til en tur i nærmeste fremtid :) Lykke til på turen. Håper du får noe bra.
Hi Trond! I realy love your videos and enjoy them everytime i am watching😁 your photos are the best! Q and A question here: what settings do you use to get som sharp and good photos? Iso? Shutterspeed? I got the Nikon p1000 yesterday and i love this camera, do you have some advice for me to get those Sharp good looking photos? Mvh Kristian 😁🙂📸📸
Hi Trond, I am Gladys Klip from The Netherlands and I have a question for your Q&A session. How many minutes do you normally film and how long does it take to compile/edit a video for TH-cam? Thanks in advance.
Trond, as always some very beautiful shots there. just a question for your Q&A session. I know you have tested the 300pf in the past. Tempted to give the 500pf a go?
Hey Trond, awesome Video! :) I noticed, that the color profile of your pictures is very flat and that this makes your pictures look very harmonious. How do you get such a color mood? :) I take pictures with a D500 and a 200-500mm. For example, when I take pictures at sunset, my colors are very strong, especially on the grass. Maybe you have a tip for me/community :D Keep up your awesome work!
Thank you so much for your kind compliment. Much appreciated. My best tip is to shoot raw, and then edit it your taste in post 😀I dont like the strong colors of the grass. So I selective reduce the green colors in post. Wish you all the best!
Them Deer are very much like the ones near me that I photograph, very wary once you press the shutter or make a slight noise their heads are up and looking straight down the lens.

Superb! As always Trond, The Deer really put your fieldcraft and skills to the test, they are so alert. 👍

Trond, I assume you're using the D500 to capture your close up video. Do you use any of that video for still images?
Yes I do. No because of the shutter is slow on the video.
