Went walking last weekend. Cuckoo singing stayed in the place hoping to catch a glimpse but it never showed itself. Must have been there listening for at least an hour or so. Beautiful sounds to hear. Maybe next time...
Thank you Trond for showing us these amazing pictures! I love them. hopefully I'll meet you sometime, that would be great... Best wishes from Switzerland!
Agree there are just certain birds in certain areas that shy away from people. Very strange other parts of the world certain birds are more tolerant of people. Keep up the excellent work Trond !
Hey Trond! Wow! The Cuckoo is beautiful! It's awesome that you could hear it calling and you were able to get some really nice footage of it as well... The 7100 made a fantastic photo ! So even with a lower end camera one can get high quality photos. I was thinking how cool it would be if the blind was shades of gray it would look like the boulders and rocks that the landscape has. Though... we always seem to have so much stuff to carry as it is. The sound of the Cuckoo made me look to see what time it was! Funny.... Sayin' hey... Greg
Lovely images. Great to have them sat on such an exposed and isolated rock. The fall off behind the rock gives such a buttery smooth background and really emphasises the bird. Beautiful. I haven't seen or even heard a cuckoo locally for several years now so I'm quite envious of your experience.
Hi absolutely brilliant video to get that image of the cuckoo was amazing I've heard them but never seen one hopefully one day though. Until next time take care and stay safe my friend.
It's always interesting to see the birds you have over there. Living on the East Coast of the US we have completely different birds that come through. Seeing your photos and videos definitely inspired me to go out and photograph them!
Often heard but seldom seen, then we see you change your plans and get two not just one. Note to self 'Must try Harder'. Well done trond You are awesome !
Great film Trond, really enjoyed it. Its always a conflict when youre filming for your TH-cam channel whether to take more stills or to keep filming for the video footage. Decisions, decisions. Great work📷
Right when I heard the call I knew it was a Common Cuckoo. Photographed it in Last year's August and October in 3 Places. This year saw a post that One Satellite tagged Common Cuckoo flew from Africa to Bangladesh in only 7 days. It flew over the Indian Ocean non stop. This species is super freaking interesting. Must be very rewarding for you to photograph in aswell. Enjoy
Currently watching it, and wow! Again Trond you have created a masterpiece! I'm still yet to find and photograph a cuckoo, I'm so happy that you managed to find one and get some shots. Great work keep it up, you are a huge inspiration!
Dear Trond, amazing video!!!!! Super images of the cuckoo!!!! Please, what's the bird parasitized by the cuckoo? .... I don't understand... Thank you very much Trond!!!!
Hi Trond, love your videos!!! Especially the atmosphere in it. It’s nice to see the excitement on the face of another wildlife photographer. One question. May I ask what brand n model trousers you were wearing during your visit to the mountains. I love it’s zips etc. I pretty much know about your gear ! So no question in that regard. But I also could not believe my eyes why you have t shot the cockoo when he landed on the big stone and after a quick break he departed towards to you. It might be a great big catch. Cheers, Gokay’
I have recently found your channel, 🙂 so over the coming weeks I will be working my way through every video. I really like your presentation, as it is very passionate as well as refreshing in comparison to other wildlife photographers. I do have a question: what is the pattern on the neoprene lens cover on your Nikon 500mm f/4?
Very nice, fun to see how it moved, a lot different from other birds in its movement on the rock. Hear them often at some locations, but never seen them ;) keep it up! (Satser på å bli med på et av fugle kursene når Covid19 roer seg litt og ting åpner opp igjen ;) )
Is the cuckoo population very low in the highlands? I think the cuckoo is a bird of habit: it usually stays in the same area, it finds a certain tree or place and it always lands on that, in a certain area it has the same flight trajectory (probably where nests of small birds are). I think it is quite a predictable bird. I agree that if the population is scarce it is difficult to find the bird but it is a good thing it is signaling its presence.
Very cool that you were able to see and photograph these! I just looked it up and found that we have a yellow billed cuckoo native to my area. I don't think I've ever seen one though.
It would have been funny, to me, if whe you first hear the sound of a Koo-koo bird that you cut to a video of a Koo-K00 clock. and the back to yourself with a laugh, and then the bird. Enjoy what you do so muchm

Great video as always Trond. Head a few up near me, never seen one yet tho. Do you find the high iso better on the D4s than the D500?
Thank you so much! Yes I do. Always better with full frame when it comes to handle high ISO noise.
Grattis ^^
What a nice video and the pictures was great. Your back looked very heavy, how many kg do you have.
Looking forward to your macro video 😊
Thank you so much Per! Yes it is. Around 30 kg 🙈
That back pack looks like it weighs a lot 💪🏼
30 kg :)

为什么拍的时候用尼康d500回放时却用尼康d5?
👍
Only time I've ever heard one is on a cookoo clock
Haha....nice :)
Very cool that you were able to see and photograph these! I just looked it up and found that we have a yellow billed cuckoo native to my area. I don't think I've ever seen one though.
To get the wildlife shot, you play the waiting game.
