Very specific question I know but I have been researching the facial changes that occur from chronic mouth breathing and am wondering if this could be related.... Is there any relation between these muscles and the appearance of the neck? I’m specifically referring to that ‘double chin’ look that some people have. Could this be under-use of the muscles causing the hyoid to be positioned incorrectly? Really struggling to find answers on this. Thanks.
I've been trying to find answers to this for so long. I have a smaller chin and narrow jaw bone and had that double chin look so I figured out how to 'tuck' it by manually controlling the digastric muscle by raising it up and I've done it for years. I noticed that it strengthened the muscle to the point that I can flex it and it's rock solid lol I can also push it out like a bullfrog. But my question is can you weaken the muscle and reduce the size somehow without doing something as drastic as surgery.
@@JayBoogieLive Answer to OP is yes, if someone has poor tongue posture and the tongue does not rest on the roof of the mouth due to a tongue-tie or insufficient space in a narrow arch, then many these muscles will be insufficiently developed and rest in a lowered position, resulting in a loose neck and double-chin appearance.

Can you help me with a strange patology of my hyoid bone?
Can calcification of stylohyoid ligaments cause neck/facial pain?
