  • Hey and welcome to this video.
Follow along as I replace the tracks on a CAT 257B3 track loader that is equipped with the ASV undercarriage. Included are some tips on removing the hubs for rebuilding. These parts are readily available online. I found mine at: www.trackloade... I was happy with the quality and cost. This is not an endorsement or advertisement, just a suggestion of where you might source your parts.

I’ve replaced my tracks twice now on ASV PT50, installed all the wheels first, then put the track back on as much as possible by hand, then with a long heavy pry bar force it over the front wheels with a helper in the cab turning the track slowly, so much easier, but hey you did a great job 🍻

You should have tried a double nut on the axle instead of just the pipe wrench

The threads can be re tapped no? Regardless. Thank you so very much for this video. I have an older 257B. And I need new tracks. I've looked so many times on TH-cam & they always show the tracks adjusted by grease fitting. Not this threaded rod like we have. You are the man. This is such a big help for me.

I just realized mine is different. I don't have steel boggie wheel like you have on the end.

The track install for a 257 B is a mother f er. Probably the hardest I ever worked on a machine.

What kit did you use to get the track on, and did you do it with all the wheels on or with one of them off, please consider putting a video on of you using the kit.

Where did you find the parts at? I need to rebuild my undercarriage and replace the tracks.

I wonder if TLP carry undercarriage pars for 2008 Caterpillar 287C? Good video!

I have a 247B3 and need to do the same thing. My question is: the old bearings do not appear to be packed with grease. With the oil ports, do the bearings just need oil (no grease)?

Wow, you really went for it. I just bought a 257 D last year with 2000 hours. I want to do new tracks, but I'm not sure it needs everything you did. It's not an everyday driver for me. How many hours does that have? I'm also very interested on how you decided what ASV parts to get. Nice Video...thanks!

This machine had about 5,000 hours on it. I did a lot of looking on the trackloaderparts website at the diagrams and also did an inspection of the wheels to see which ones had bearings that were grinding and/or inner seals leaking.

WOW , LOL , I went right to the comments when I saw the pipe wrench on the threads . How about just removing the inside nut and pulling the axle outward ???? Yikes man....

Not 1 video on TH-cam showing the other wheels. All are bolt off the hub wheels. Of course I have everything done, new tracks on, but I can't get the outside idler om.

DID YOU EVER GET THE IDLER ON. MINE ARE SINGLE PIECE WHEELS , I CANT UNBOLT THEM , INSTALL THE HUB AND THEN THE WHEEL , IT ALL HAS TO GO ON IN ONE PIECE W/O MESSING UP THE AXLE THREADS

@@jimcochran7539 I did. Bought a tool to help & it worked good. Took 2 of us. Then about a week later the drive motor died. Had to take track off again & front idler. Replaced drive & this time I got it all back together by myself. Well, took 2 people to get the damn hoses on the drive.
