  • Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning Getting Started Tips: Things I Wish I Knew Before I Played - fextralife.com/kingdoms-of-am... In this Kingdoms of Amalur Remaster Beginner Guide I’ll be providing you with some very helpful tips that will get you off to a good start in this remaster of a very underrated RPG. Kingdoms of Amalur can be a bit overwhelming when you first begin, and a large part of that is because the game is enormous, but also because the UI isn’t the most intuitive I’ve ever seen. And, while the game does a very good job of introducing you to most of its mechanics, there is simply a lot you find out the hard way. In this Guide, I’m going to attempt to save you some of that “hard way”, because I’ve already gone through it for you!

5:49 - Classes, Abilities, and Destinies
    7:37 - Final Tips
Make sure to Salvage some of the items you don’t need, and don’t just sell them all. This will provide you with valuable Crafting Materials that you can use to make better Weapons and Armor as long as you have some points into Blacksmithing. You should have plenty of gold if you sell half or less of what you pick up, so this shouldn’t be hard to do.
Generally speaking there is no real reason to bum rush one skill as quickly as you can since you likely won’t see much benefit from it (unless it’s Blacksmithing or Detect Hidden). Try to spread your Skill points around early on so that you can do a bunch of things and focus in on 2 or 3 Skills later on. Aim for the Milestones you want, and then break off into other Skills.
Remember to buy Health Potions whenever you can. You will pop them like candy on the higher difficulties of the game, and you don’t want to find yourself at the tail end of some really long Dungeon facing a Boss with no Potions. You cannot Fast Travel from inside Dungeons, so you’ll lose a lot of time running all the way out, Fast Traveling and then running all the way back. Stay stocked up on these and buy them or make them as often as you can.
One thing I learned relatively recently is that Burning, Freezing and Shocking, which are damage over time effects related to their elements, can actually do other things as well. For instance Burning damage can cause “Panicked”, which makes enemies run around on fire. Freezing can slow a target down, allowing you to dodge and hit them more easily. And Shocking can spread to other nearby enemies, dealing damage to them, and possibly interrupting and staggering them as well. Keep these things in mind when making your Build.
Lastly, inventory management can be a huge pain in the ass in this game, so be sure you get your House in Webwood as quickly as you can. This will allow you to store up to 200 items in the chest there, which can make life so much easier for you. To do this you need to travel there and complete The Tangled Web quest, and then you’ll have access to the house. Also, be sure to buy Backpacks when you see them because this will allow you to carry more stuff on you, which helps tremendously!

detect hidden at least to 3 and then also leveling achemy and sagecrafting is best early on for more ingredients for stuff - respec for blacksmithing new gear a few times and when you're gonna be going around getting trainer bonuses to skills but generally you're good with these (also once those are going good dispelling - that minigame is a bitch and just easier to get it so you can auto do it is best - just skip them until then)

@@leeman27534 boy, dispelling is no so bad.
You have to practice with low difficulty wards first, and you will get the hang of it.
You gotta be careful at Average or above wards,as they contain Dark Sigils(those red mines floating near the glyphs you need to hit and hitting them causes the ward to explode in your face.).
If you invest 4 points in Dispelling,Dark Sigils are permanently removed from the game, not to mention that you get additional chances to try again before the protection ward detonates at higher levels, plus the huge bonus you get at max Dispelling(Glyph regeneration time considerably increased).

Don't forget that you can equip new loot from the very first 'you found this loot' window rather than picking it up then going to your inventory. Using alchemy potions to boost skills will also unlock any milestone benefits there, so you can happily save those last two skill points in most of the skills and just make a few potions instead. And this was one of the first games to let you toggle whether your helmet is visible for all those lovely haircuts. (To be fair this is from the original game and the remaster may have moved things around a little)

The blink ability changed the whole game for me. It's tougher to master since the timing is different than your standard roll dodge, but if you're used to herding crowds of mobs in order to flank and strike at vulnerable edges of a well shepherded cluster, the ability to move right through crowds is just plain awesome. I have a sneaking suspicion I'll have a very hard time putting down the chakrams this next play through.

    • @The_RealDC
      @The_RealDC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I did the chakras as well, but to make the best out of my stealth rogue build it seems I have to put points into magic too....right now I use daggers and chakras as my ranged...any tips or ideas (I'm digging the poison/bleed set up)

    • @thethunderchieftain5464
      @thethunderchieftain5464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

If you play on pure Sorcery and reach the Sage destiny, your Blink ability gets an Ice effect(deals Ice damage while blinking through enemies and also slows them).
If you play a Sorcery/Finese build at tier 4 your Blink gains Poison effect if I remember correctly(Blinking through enemies poisons them).

    • @jonathansoko5368
      @jonathansoko5368 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Detect hidden 5
    Sagecraft 8
    Blacksmithing 7
I say is the most important in early game (before going to the next city) in that order. IF you do all the mission in the first map, you'll end up in LV20 (or very near) and all these skills. By the time you get blacksmithing at 7, you'll have LOTS of crystals to craft really strong weapons & armor with any element or status ailment you want. Remember to disassemble gear you dont need/want when you start to LV up blacksmithing so you get good parts.

Another thing to note about Dispelling that I learned recently. It actually can act like Persuasion on possessed individuals. I usually level Dispelling to 4 to remove the dark sigils and making Dispelling easier, but when I was doing the last quest of the House of Ballads line I discovered I could dispel her mind control on EVERY member of the House of Ballads, avoiding the fights with each and every one.
If they have a little wavy thing around their head, you can dispel that effect to potentially avoid a fight.

You can easily max out skills with the additional trainers the DLCs provided.
I would priorize Sagecraft over Blacksmithing. Armour with empty slots for your gems can be found or bought rather easily. Specific gems however are not so easy to get buy and can cost much more.
However, you can personalize a crafted armour/weapon more than a bought one with slotted in gems.
Same goes for weapons. It is also way easier to get cheap shards and upgrade them than to get upgraded crafting materials for blacksmithing, even when you break armour or weapons down. Multiple tries might be neccessary to get the best parts.
It would have been nice, if they had allowed us to craft accessories as well.
Sorting through the MISC section, especially when buying or selling can be tremendously tedious as anything from books to iron pans to blacksmithing materials are listed there. They could at least have made more sections and give us the ability to sort things better.
At least they upped the personal chest storage space, but a usable bookcase would have been nice too.

A single player game cannot be an MMO nor can an MMO be a single player game. Those are mutually exclusive terms.
I get it though this game feels like it should be an MMO. The world is massive and open with boatloads of Side quests to do with friends that wouldnt in anyway affect your MSQ. Also character bill diversity is more in line with an MMO I mean call single player games let you choose a class but this game let you Mel together any kind of highbred do you want from three classes really. So I agree with you I thought this felt like more of an MMO style game then a single player game but the fact remains that can’t be both they are mutually exclusive terms

Everyone I've seen who talks about skills in this game misses the fact that if you're careful with your skills, you can max out just about every skill without the Universalist destinies. 9 skills total, 10 ranks in each. Meaning 90 skill ranks. You start off with 4 ranks (2 in 1 skill, 1 in 2 skills) regardless of whichever race you pick. As you level up, do NOT go above 2 ranks in the 1st tier of skills (the 1st tier is 4 ranks) & do not use your skill books. There are 2 trainers of 1st tier, most of which are located in Dalentarth.
Once you reach 4 ranks in any 1 skill (2 from the trainers, & 2 from either your race or through leveling up), you can move onto the 2nd tier (which is 3 ranks). You can put 2 more ranks into the skill as there is only 1 2nd tier trainer (These are located primarily around Rathir & Adessa). Again do not use your skill books here.
Once you reach 3 more ranks in any 1 skill (1 from the trainer, & 2 from leveling up. This should bring you up to 7). You are now at the master tier. At this point, you only put 1 skill rank into the skill, as you can now use the skill book to level up another skill rank & find the final tier 3 trainer (Most of which are located somewhere in Klurikon, with 1 located in Alabastra).
The math is as follows: 4 Ranks to each Skill from Trainers (4*9 = 36) + 1 Rank to each Skill from Skill Books (1*9 = 9) + 4 Ranks from your Race + 40 Ranks from Leveling Up. 36+9+4+40 = 89, which means that 1 skill will fall short of maxing out without DLC or an item that upgrades a single skill. This is not a difficult thing to do, just so long as you are mindful of your level in relation to your skill points, & do not mind some light retracing of steps to reclaim certain things. (which isn't really that big of a deal as you have to do this for certain quests anyway)
There are some pieces of equipment that may boost skills if you find them; not certain on which ones though. DLC that can upgrade includes the Compass of Fate (Which is found in the chest in Gorhart) gives you +1 Persuasion while you hold onto it. & the Legend of Dead Kel have a few master tier trainers that can upgrade Alchemy, Mercantile, & Sagecraft.
This also does not include the Fatesworn DLC, which raises the level cap to 50, giving you 10 more skill points, but at the same time giving you access to a new Skill to sink those points into.

Skill trainers and skill books exist and one of the 'classes' gives a bonus to all skills. You can max all skills with a little planning.
Also you can respec to meet trainers skill minimums or maximums. So if a trainer can only train level 0-3 of a skill- respec that skill to 0 so you can train all 3 ranks. Save skill books for high skill rank purchases 8+

I keep seeing all these guides that say merchantile is bad but they couldn't be more wrong.
It's absolutely one of the skills you want to invest in early (along with some alchemy to help get herbs and make potions which are BUSTED in the early game) so that you can quickly amass gold - gold that can be spent on Trainers, because using them isn't cheap - about 31k for the 1st two uses (0-3) 45 for the 3rd (4-6) and the final trainer (7-9) is a bit over 50k I believe.
An important thing to note is there's also 1 skill book to find for each of the 9 skills, and hold off on using them until you've used every trainer for the relevant skills.
Also the points gained from trainers, books as well as your racial bonuses persist even through respecs. Blacksmith and Sagecraft are the only 2 you absolutely need at 10 IMO, but also really aren't necessary at all until at least the midgame as you will find plenty of good gear just from playing.

imo getting Detect Hidden to 5 is most important. after that you can put a few points in dispelling (for auto dispel, just quick save and load), persuasion (better rewards and story/quest results), and alchemy (chance to get reagents and crafting potions). you don't need high level Blacksmithing, just enough to salvage components is good plus it can be boosted by potions you can craft via alchemy, which also applies to sagecraft. i would even argue that stealth could be more important than mercantile, and lock picking (easy enough).
there are trainers and skill books, but be careful coz depending on the race you chose you can lock yourself out of a trainer especially if you use a book early on - at least in the OG.

Bruh, blacksmithing and sagecraft are so broken. Once I had them up to like 5 each, I would immediately make a new set of gear once I could, then wouldn't replace it until the next tier (azurite, sylvanite, etc) because nothing ever measured up, not even Epics around my level. At max skill levels, you can become a walking tank, eating damage from trolls for breakfast while dishing out crits every other attack from that +14% crit chance on half your gear. Use a greatsword or warhammer, and you can finish "hard" fights in like 3 swings. It's a pain to grind out all the necessary components, but mah GAWD do you absolutely wreck everything.

      magic's potent as fuck:
basic shock and ice skills working like two different skills is pretty cool
      shield + summon's fairly boss
elemental rage is a really cool skill (even if just using teh shock skill to group foes better it's got it's usefulness)
and meteor just fucking rocks (from space)
      mights fucking brutal too
adrenaline surge is a potent 'fuck you im not dying today' skill
quake is a great group skill early on - burn through your mp and just screw everything in a decent AOE up both damage and stunlock wise
relentless assault almost alone makes your character a badass basic melee champ
battle frenzy will let you fuck up a group easier and easier with each kill - aim for the weakest first and you'll be able to tear into the harder foes that much easier
wrath's basically 'what if meteor and quake had a baby'
finesse need to play the long game more but it's got a fantastic bows\blades + poison and bleed setup:
envenomed edge: all blades and arrows (basically weapons besides staff and sceptre) can poison foes
mysterious toxins: poisoned foes can release a powerful poison cloud
poison can stun foes for a few seconds
poison and bleed effects last longer
poison smoke bomb: poisons foes stuns foes and makes you hidden for a while
hits on bleeding foes deals extra damage sometimes
and then with bow stuff - all arrows can bleed foes and charged shot releases up to 7 arrows at once - rapidfire hits potentially adding poison and bleed and stunning foes and dealing extra damage as well
and then hybrid stuff's not too bad -
might\finesse could do decent poison + crit focused melee attacker setup (can't get access to paralyze with poison and bleed extra damage skills or wrath or atk speed with battle frenzy or the enemy armor reduction from war cry)
might\sorc: might character without wrath and a few things but better able to use like quake with higher max mana and reduced mana cost from the sorc tree as well as shield + summonable ally or grouping foes with elemental rage
finesse\sorc: personally feel it's pretty weak but ah well - decent long range weapon with bows and if wanting to do a sort of poison\bleed soften them up with charged shots from a primal bow then once primal's set open up with magic (just missing out on meteor and blizzard here) that'd be alright

Dude air you talk to the Laingsburg that run into the house you can have create a lot of your house so you can upgrade your stash to 300 items alchemy station and a bunch of plants that you can harvest in the house which I kind a hope bedroom three of those plants goes up when your alchemy goes out by I’m not sure but I can’t expect that to be sold him and he can also buy an hour of sage crafting station in the house so significant upgrades on the house they cost like 500 gold for each

RA Salvador brought me here. Forgotten Realms. Only reason why I play this game because of the story telling in a D&D kind of way

Saw that you have the maiden ring, is the bug still in the game? If it is then that suck that you lost a slot.

If anyone is curious about the Skills each has 4 trainers and one skill book for a total of 5 free points. However it is very important to never read a skill book for a skill you start off with 2 points in as 2 of the 4 trainers only train for tier 1 of the skill, with the other two being a tier 2 & a tier 3 trainer.
Also for fellow Rogue/Finess players- bleed makes enemies take more damage from blade weapons(yes that includes Chakrams) and arrows, while poison makes them deal less damage. The debuff values are 33% each unless THQ Nordic changed it. ;)

nah - just don't read the book and get a skill point from a higher tier skill trainer - but even then it's not a big deal because there's a few skills that don't need to be maxed anyway
if you use the book or even a med or high skill trainer to get base 3 - you can still use the novice skill trainer - just not with 4 skill points

    I do have question
With all the armor and weapons inside the chest at the first town in the game, does it stay lvl 1 even if you've NEVER looked into the chest? Is it able to scale based on your level? Or does it just stay lvl 1 no matter what? Even without looking in the chest?
