One tip for chests. If you find one shortly after entering a new zone, (one that creates an auto save) you can open the chest and if you don't like the loot, can load autosave, re-enter enstance and try again for new loot. Does not work if you save right before opening chest, you need the change of area load screen.
Yeah, that was the first proper quest I did, kind of by accident, and she sorted me right out with a discount in shit she was selling AND a bump in what she offered for my junk. With the special delivery chest right out front, it seemed rude not to fleece her for 10k gold....
@@ashleysmith1276 10k ? I got 300k gold from her Edit: nvm i had 2 points in bribe or whatever its called but thats insane only 2 points and that much of an increase?
@@AleksTT_GG With the new DLC out, there's a brand new vendor in Gohart selling Unique and rare items. Sometimes, you get things you would normally need to "farm" for in the game, which use to take hours and hours of saving and reloading your game. That "mechanic" still exist btw, which was called "LOOT Manipulation".
@garythemilkman4442 maybe 2 years ago but no way that's possible now I have 2 points in it to most stuff you get out of that chest you don't even get money for. So this is nonsense i don't even think then I played maybe not 2 years ago but year or little more and that didn't happen then either
When you come upon a warded chest. Save the game before opening it! Then try to open it. IF you get cursed, reload the save and try again. This is helpful when your low level and short on cash and/or deep in a dungeon and don't feel like running back to town. 😁
I got cursed while trying to get to the Widow in the early game, the spider queen in the cave. I was nearly to her and ended up getting cursed by a chest from improperly dispelling it and I ended up dying to her as a result, and it auto saved right AFTER I was cursed, so. I had to turn around and run like 15 mins each way to the healer. The fast travel system in this is sort of confusing and takes getting used to. Just saying that this is really good advice 😉
works with dismantling objects in blacksmithing too, each time you dismantle you get a random component(s) thats contained within, useful for salvaging specific items when you upgrade your gear to the next level
1) Be sure to spend the points for the weapons you use the most when leveling. Example, I use Staffs and Chakrams with my mage build. I don't touch scepters, so I have no points in scepters. 2) You can sell and buyback an item with a stolen icon at the Travellers camps to "fence" it and remove the icon. This will help with some of your inventory management. 3) Armor/Weapons/Books take up one slot each...even if you have multiple copies of the same thing. Potions and Repair kits stack 10 per slot. Lockpicks stack 99 per slot. 4) Save the prismere lockpicks for later game play/very hard chests. 5) Invest in Mercantile! You will see your purchase prices drop and your sell prices raise. This is especially useful if you are willing to spend the time buying crafting items and then crafting things to sell at a profit. 6) Put off Teeth of Naros and Legend of Dead Kel as long as possible so that the equipment sets you get scale up. I haven't tested this in Re-Reckoning yet. 7) You can hold the attack button for a short duration to get some of the delay attack. This is especially useful with crowd control and a staff or chakrams. 8) Even if you ignore the rest of the side quests...do the faction side quests! The twists of fate for completing each one are more than worth the time you sink into them. 9) During character creation pick a deity or no deity based on the play style you are going for. Lopoku, for example, is perfect if you are going with a straight finesse play style. 10) Always have a melee and ranged weapon as your primary and secondary. Learn to switch between the two in a fluid motion. It not only makes combat easier to manage, it looks cool as well.
Would you consider chakrams as a melee AND ranged weapon? Chakrams to me are the most interesting weapon in KoA, I've not seen many other games with similar weapons. I just love their maelstrom charged attack
@@Macroman595 they really aren't good for straight up melee. They are great for medium range as well as crowd control though. I absolutely love them. They are especially useful in the Webwood dungeons.
have to agree with these points but also should add a few more in my opinion like for me playing a character with good detect hidden is such a nice quality of life choice that has pretty decent scaling benefits and for a new player it's almost a must to get the most out of exploration
Fun Fact: +% Melee dmg benefits: Longswords, Greatswords, Hammers, Daggers, Faeblades AND STAFF & CHAKRAMS. +% Ranged dmg benefits: Longbow and Septers only. +% Pericing dmg benefits: Longswords, Greatswords, Daggers, Fae Blades, Longbows. You can customize Staff, Chakram, Septers and Hammers to have Peircing dmg. +% Elemental dmg benefits: Fire, Ice and Lightning. Including weapon damage with these effects. Bleed AND POISON are NOT considered magic. There for they are effective against enemies resistant to magic. Like Trolls. Hope this helps people build choices. :)
You seem to be well informed. Do you know if there's a difference between magic attack damage and elemental damage? Also, curious what the difference is between damage resistance (i.e. sphere of protection) vs damage mitigation (i.e. skillful defense)?
@@redeye259 I believe Magic attack Damage and Elemental damage are basically the same thing. Elemental damage counts towards Fire, Ice and Lightning for both spells and weapon attacks. While i would assume the magic attack is only whatever effect you have on your equipped weapon. Damage Resistance from Sphere of protection is a flat % reduction on any & all types of damage you take. (10% reduction: you take 90 dmg instead of 100 dmg) The damage mitigation from Skillful defences increases the effectiveness by a % of the value of your currently equipped Shield block amount. (10% mitigation: Equiped Shield Blocks 30 dmg + 10% = Blocks 33dmg) and then depending on your armor the damage can be mitigated even further. Full plate gear and high block mitigation can enable 100% damage mitigated. However there are differnt block values depending on what you are being attacked by and what your sheild is. (Kite Sheilds have a high Physical Block amount but low magic block, Talismans are opposite.) But you can gear yourself so you can block basically everything with a kite sheild. My Battle mage can just block troll attacks now, aswell as projectile magic attacks. However piercing attacks bypass armor mitigation and have a chance to stagger you. So it's not over powered.
Chakrams have melee damage benefits?!? That's weird, as combat animations clearly suggests it's a ranged weapon. The piercing damage benefit applies to chakrams as well, but it's not specified in the game manual ...
If you go to your home in Canneroc you can put stuff in your loot chest then take it out of the loot chest by putting it into the junk section. Then go to your junk and remove it from there and no more stolen symbol. Its one of the few bugs that are awesome.
It works for most things. Shards, reagents won't. You'll have to sell them at Starcamp and purchase them back. If your merchant skill is maxed, you can sell stolen items to anyone.
@@donaldlayton437 - Yeah anything in a no weight "bag/pouch" will not work (like the gem, reagent, parts pouches). But at the same time you do not see those in you basic inventory so not sure why that is an issue (as you almost never see them and the do not count towards extra inventory points which is the main issue). Also after you combine them it clears it as well and it seems to use stolen ones first when combing.
@@PartStupid actually, you can do that with gems, just not the shards. I found this out while I was doing the Scholia quest. The necromancer has a warded chest upstairs with gems in it. They're all stolen, but you can put them in you chest @ a home and then junk them removing the red hand.
Also super important, find and use all of the trainers!! They are basically free skill points and especially early game make your life so much easier. Do it sooner rather than later because they all have different level caps
Tip if you have over leveled a skill and cannot use the low level trainers, go to a fateweaver and reset skills, then go to any trainers you've found and buy the skills before reinvesting your reset skill points.
Now this is how all tips and tricks videos should be. Packed with actual information that's good to know. More facts than opinions. This is a great video for anyone thinking about starting KOA. Very well done good sir.
DIVERSIFY your attacks for maximum fate. Don't use the same attack over and over, you wil only get Fate bonus once for every enemy. Also I would recommend getting your alchemy up to level 10 to unlock all recipes, and then respecing - the recipes stay unlocked and you can use the skill points elsewhere.
I like Detect Hidden, but you wind up getting SO much gold by mid-game that I usually just put 2 points in it then focus on Blacksmithing and Sagecrafting. Around level 15 I'll max Detect HIdden then go searching for lorestones to get all the stat boosts I want. Also I try to keep side quests to a minimum. The main and faction quest lines give you "twists of fate" and also force you to move to harder areas earlier, which levels you up quicker. Doing every side quest wears me out by the time I get to Klurikon. And you can always go back and complete side quest lines after you finish the game.
After having 350+ hours i cannot stress enough that you should definitely focus the detect hidden skill first it makes your early game super easy. Plus most of the other skills arent as useful that early on (like blacksmithing and sagecraft)
interesting, I've always focused on maxing out sage and blacksmithing first so that by the time i get to mel senshir i can buy prismere stuff and immediately craft godlike armor lol
With the trainers you can go to a fateweaver reset your skills and then go to the trainer. It helps early on to skip them and come back when you have more money later in the game
I've played alot of the original game..it's one of my favorites and I already apply all this in my playthrough..also I can't believe you didn't mention saving before you break down items since each time you do it it gives you different crafting materials..so with a little patience you can always get the best components
@@ryanm2821 yeah the items you get are different with each weapon/armor based on the added benefit and you can break down the armor and weapons based off of what materials you want that give those abilities..it takes patience and ALOT of reloading but you can get the best components every single time and make some TRULY sick shit..it's awesome
@@evan7576 you do know that that's only in the dlc right... they're talking about the base game and also she really doesn't bring back any of the good shit
i was actually waiting to see if he would mention this lol but it's understandable if he didn't want to get into game manipulation so i can forgive the lack of it's mention
Before you have a storage chest you can Store items by selling them to a merchant. They can however only hold up to 50 items and you have to rebuy them. Any Item after the 50 will still be held by the merchant but the first will begone. The First Home with a storage chest is in webwood after you finish a Quest for the town in the area
From what I understand if you don't open the extra content loot box in goerhart all the items are static to your characters level until you do.. Once you do the stats are fixed. That's how it was in the original.
I have played the original game for years now. One trick I've learned that makes the game better and can be done in Re-Reckoning, is once I reach a level 3 or 4 , I run all the way to the east coast to Rathir and Moon Camp , activating areas for experience points. I save every time I reach a new area. This gives me a chance to open a few chests, scavenge loot piles and activate some lorestones. Reaching Moon Camp allows me to make contact with Donnah Vulgar and Eren Calse. Donnah will buy peasant clothes, which you find early on, but have no place to sell them for good money and you can sell stolen items to Calse. You can also break crates and vases for easy gold along the way. In Rathir, I go to the Customs House where there is a ton of crates to smash and a storeroom with some good items in them. You can then "fast travel" back to Gorhart with better items and more money. this also makes it easier later on when you need to get to another area, since you have already activated it.
@@kennethkoerperich - False. *From the wiki page* Level lock has been removed: The original game determined the level of a zone on first entering, this was stored in the save file. In Re-Reckoning we re-calculate the level every time entering or re-entering a level.
Here is a tip for people who play the game. 1: When going to recycle items, always save, recycle, and see if you get the best part of the items, if you did not get the part that you need it, just reload and that's it. 2: Invest in smithing, it' will give you an upper hand on fine equipment that you can craft yourself. 3: always pick reagents, they are free and when you need healing, just get on the menu and bam, potions are costly, and the plants have the same effect. 4: always do early explorations and start whit normal difficult, when reaching level 10 switch to hard and then on 20 switch to very hard, the exp values change, the enemy level's too. 5: farm big enemies like leanashe, rock/mountain trolls and crudocks, for secured loot of green, blue quality for crafting. 6: farm belts from the freeman people to get extra money on your pockets! 7: always buy jewels that give you chances to critical hits, health and mana are always brought to you from the equipment parts.
Hey bro what do you recommend I do in regards to the special delivery chest at the first town with all the gear. Do I loot it and sell the gear I won't use or should I leave it until later? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
@@fentonite8882 the special delivery, it's optional to take, on my side that loot only works well at the start, the sole reason for that its because of the craft system, I can 200k of crit damage whit a crafted 2H sword, these items have limited potential.
👍!!! I loved the game on 360 & was sad when I found out that their wouldn't be a sequel. THQ Nordic is awesome for picking up IP that was great, And giving it new life after the devs were lost to crap circumstances. Darksiders was another really good IP that would be dead if not for Nordic. These ppl are heroes!! Lol
the +1 on every --ability is true, though two things to consider. The weapon mastery abilities cant get higher than three and every other ability is locked 2 points above the maximum (so spending max point into an ability then using amour to get plus 2 on that ability after having a twist of fate that grants you an additional point is not worth)
Those are some really good tips, I didn't know what counted towards inventory space. I'm gonna have to toss the junk notes and books I'm always walking around with. I'm loving this remaster!
(for pc) you'll never need a single skill point in dispelling just quick-save before every dispell, auto-dispell, load back if you fail, even very hard chests are at least 10% chance so your bound to get it open (tho from experience, there's no guarantee at all of better loot in harder chests, hopefully it's different in the Remaster) Edit: this essentially works for Persuasion too, but you'll need to use your instincts here, can't expect to save before every person you talk to this works too with lockpicking, but apparently a successful auto-lockpick will still remove a single lockpick from you, of course lockpicks are dirt cheap
Dude, super cool video. All of these were actually tips and helpful. I'm used to watching these and getting nuggets like "save often because you can die in this game". More of this my guy!
Save often. You should have about 3 staggered saves per character (about every hour or so or the start of a boss or dungeon) and cycle overwriting them as you play along. That way if the game glitches you maybe only have to redo an hour of gameplay and not 8 like I had to.
If you arent playing a spell class and don't have a fire based spell. Keep a fire staff on hand when your anywhere populated by spiders. Passages will be blocked with webbing that can only be taken down with fire. Usually doesn't block critical paths but you can miss out on chests ect.
Buy Blazing Salve potion from Canneroc alchemist. Works on webs even if your weapon doesn't have fire. Also, use an ability on the Widow (or any enemy w/ staff) as they make that circle of fire. Your ability cancels out the circle. Spiders are also vulnerable to lightning dmg, but not as much as fire.
Fantastic guide as always buddy. Keep up the great work! A tip I use is resetting your Destiny allows you to use some of the lower skill range trainers to in the end increase your abilities like Alchemy etc. Pair that with the Jack of all Trades Destiny and you can do anything
Here is a tip from the olden days: Between your starting 4 skill points, your points from leveling up, the trainers, and each of the skill books, the base game lets you have 89 of the 90 total skill points, as long as you don't do the trainers out of order or pick up the skill book for your starting +2 skill before accessing both of that skill's low level trainers. The DLC (included in this version) adds four master trainers to the game, letting you max out everything, even if you made a mistake or two. (And given that two of the trainers are tied to a faction you can tick off, locking you out of their services, it is *FAR* too easy to make those mistakes.)
Nice guide, Caedo - here's a "trick" that I've never seen used during playthroughs on youtube: If you have invested at least 5 points in the Dispelling skill and are below level 20, when you reach Castle Windermere in the House of Ballads quest line, you can save the Court of Enchantment - it opens up dialogue options and may have an effect on the epilogue of the House of Ballads, depending on your choices during the battle with the Maid ...
After you start finding higher tier gear, I recommend banking sets for specs you currently are not playing in case you decide to change your mind/fate. A quick way to get a place to bank said sets is to make sure to do the quests in the area with the spiders so the village grants you your own home there. Saves some trouble for having to hunt down a full set with the stats you want, even if it may need a little catchup if you haven't replaced the pieces recently.
sets drops appear to be zone based and RNG in chest and mob drops (with some exceptions) if you are missing a piece you can generally farm the zone you found the others in to complete the set. Depending on your luck this can be really quick or take forever. Not always worth it unless you really like the asthetic.
It's always handy to have Fate Potions with you especially during boss fights or mini bosses. You can craft them using Essence of Fate from enemies who drop them. When you get to the fight, use a Fate Potion, enter Reckoning Mode and it helps the fights go much faster. Granted this is in normal mode, but I wouldn't see it still not help in harder difficulties.
Concerning backpacks, the one that you can get in the Dead Kel DLC is the only one in the game that doesn't do anything for inventory space. Having played the original game a few times, most of these things were old news to me, but that one change with Re-Reckoning with regards to enemy scaling is nice to see. I've only played through Re-Reckoning enough so far to see that they fixed the 2 most annoying bugs I found in the original PC port: Ui scaling on a 4K monitor, and a problem with the lockpicking minigame if v-sync is turned off.
After leaving the early forest part of the map, you have a choice of going to the plains or the desert, the former being a continuation of the gradual difficulty increase seen in the forest, while the latter is a difficulty spike.
The highest skill bonus is +2 above its standard max, so if you get +3 bonus from gear or permanent bonus from twists of fate, you can respec your character to have 1 below your max in each skill, giving you the max possible and a whole heap of extra skillpoints to play with
Here's a heads up for anybody planning to join the Warsworn Faction. There's a glitch that can prevent you from completing a vital quest called The Commendation. The quest tasks you with killing two bandits and collecting their daggers as proof of your kill. However, if you kill the one called Osgar at a bandit camp near a river before you accept the quest from the Warsworn, then his corpse will become un-lootable, preventing you from completing the quest. This has actually happened to me. I killed Osgar while on another quest before I found the Warsworn faction, and now I can't complete this vital quest I need to in order to join the faction. So if you are planning on joining this faction, then I recommend you join up as fast as you can before you accidentally trigger this glitch.
i dont know why this game diddnt get more love, it honestly is a very well made game and fun. it does feel kinda simple but i like it, but at the same time it has depth. it is a very good game. like theres this one quest where this guy took a potion and thinks hes a alchemist and said he fell on someone and killed them and later on i came across the body exploring and you could see where he fell from by accident, proberbly running through the forrest. like the world story telling is also really good. and the quest feel more like you are really doing things for people because of how well the story telling is too. this is a very good game and only gets more intresting the more deep you go into the game. so if you are new keep going and you will really like the game.
I would also strongly suggest bumping up dispel before starting the House of Ballard's Champions missions and beyond as it is very, very important to have in those late Ballard quests. It scales per level so you could end up wanting to have it even up to 9 or above. You can re-spec your character to buff the dispel going into the missions and then re-spec after the mission to have the dispel covered thru the use of Fateweavers
Don't forget to look for skill books to boost your skills by 1 point for free. There is a Sagecraft skill book in the well at the St. Hadwyn's Mission in Glendara (you will need Detect Hidden level 2 to find it), a Dispelling skill book in the Fae Cache on the 2nd floor of the Ballads Library in Yolvan and a Persuasion skill book in the Livrarium in Adessa (you will need to do a short side quest to get it). I'm sure there are other books out there I just haven't found yet.
Unless you are specifically trying a stealth build, all your initial skill points should go into detect hidden just enough that you can get the hidden loot, then all of it should be focused in mercantile unless you're waiting for the next tier of skills. You'll start having more money than you know what to do with which will allow you to purchase better stuff with, purchase training for your other skills, or purchase a fateweaver's services without worry. • Alchemy only becomes decently useful once you've maxed it so you can make fate potions. Until then, you should have enough money soon to buy all the potions you want. Max it soon so you can make the fate potions though • blacksmithing is irrelevant until near end game as you can't acquire the components needed to make stuff better than anything you can just find until end game, which is based on your level not the points in it. Until then, you'll have enough money to buy anything you want • dispell isn't needed and if you really want it, just save scum. If you don't wanna save scum, at least you'll have the money to keep curing yourself and repairing gear • persuasion is save scum-able and usually inconsequential • lockpicking should be the last as the mechanics are extremely easy to succeed and you'll have more lockpicks than you'll know what to do with • stealth is ONLY relevant if your whole character is built around it
I think this can help a little bit: - Open the books you have, before destroying or selling them you can read them first. Some books can give you permanent buffs.
Here's an important detail regarding your last tip: You don't need more than 2 additional ability points per ability tree. Most abilities can go only 2 points above the normal limit, and the rest can only go +1 above that limit. Then there's the "Weapon Mastery" abilities that won't surpass their limit at all. Take this in mind while respeccing if you have any twist of fate or piece of equipment that gives you additional ability points, so you don't end up wasting points or using useless equipment.
I thought this is how it worked too but i have discovered this to not be true, i have a necklace that gives +1 to all sorcery abilities and 2 parts of the harbinger set which gives +2 to all sorcery abilities, in the abilities menu it shows that you only get +2, but this is not true, because if i take my necklace off, the damage from my abilities actually lowers, so in conclusion it does work even if it's not displayed correctly you still get the extra point, you can test it out yourself, my guess is that it can stack infinetly and yes all the abilities i tested were maxed out at the time of testing and against the same enemies.
I just started playing this, completely blind. Got it for a few bucks in a bargin bin. Seems like a lot of fun, really enjoying it so far. Thanks for the tips to help get me started. :) the spells and combos just seem awesome so far.
Good vid! Re-Reckoning just got released on PS+ (in the UK at least, prob elsewhere too) and I remembered playing the demo on Xbox360 waaaay back in the day (it feels like much longer than 9 years ago...) and I really enjoyed the demo. Never bought the actual game though. The remaster is pretty decent, runs at a nice clip, esp on my PS5, and I just spent 4 hours happily getting out of the Well, stealing some shit in the first village (did my time, then went back in, unleashed a prisoner and stole everything in the place while the guards were hunting down the escapee 😆) and doing a minor early mission. I can see that this game could be a MAJOR time-sink, it seems to be absolutely MASSIVE in scale, so much content. Sadly I doubt I will stick with it for long, but it is fun for sure. I wish I was young again and had all the time in the world to play a game like this to death. Ah well, maybe in the next life.
I'm so glad I watched this for the stealing odds. I had no idea how stealing works for the quests you need to do it for, since you would normally assume the % chance is your success rate! Also didn't want to be a thief in this game, because in RPGs like this I always do steal stuff lol. I also didn't know about the sneak attacks, so that's a good find for me. I'm glad I picked up this game. It's so much fun! :)
great video, this game is an underrated gem. I plan on streaming it soon to try and give it more traction and some of these tips I had never seen before despite having over 150 hours in game. Ill be sure to keep them in mind
A better tip for the repair kits that I tinkered with (and now regularly use on my playthroughs) is to just get repair kits whenever you can. Its the kind of item that never hurts to have in your inventory, similar to heal pots/mana pots.
Another thing I found out is that the type advantage system in Pokemon is very similar to Amalur's weakness system. Ice and Fire-Types are very effective against Bug types, take this into account when fighting enemies that are bugs/arachnids like Spiders, Venomspitters, Crudoks (I believe..). Fire-types are strong against Grass-types, so Boggarts and Thresh are vulnerable to fire. Physical damage (Normal-type moves) are powerful against enemies with both no or some form of elemental defenses (Crudoks, Murghan, etc. are examples of magical enemies with elemental defense). An example of an enemy with no elemental defense are human enemies such as Bandits, Warriors, etc. which are also vulnerable to physical damage. A little side note for electrical-elementals, there aren't a lot of type advantages against electricity so i would recommend investing in physical or fire/ice type weaponry. Electrical damage is crowd control and trades that skill for efficiency and damage so DO NOT invest in it. Poison is DOT (Damage Over Time) and also is ineffective unless used with the right weaponry. This is otherwise making Poison outranking efficiency as an element over Electricity and Ice. Final thing, your level alters the level of the loot you discover in different places, not the level OF the place. Basically you can go into Gorhart and grab shit from the special delivery and it will be high level or any other loot will be the highest level that can match you. It pays off to return to places you HAVE been rather than NEEDING TO GO. And also be sure to stray off the path and get a little adventurous. The campaign can wait and who knows, maybe you can find one of those rare fate flowers behind a hidden door or discover a mini-campaign quest like the House of Sorrows in Klurikon, eastbound from the entrance of Mel Senshir.
Regarding your final point, it may be worth noting that no matter how much equipment you have with bonus ability points (even with a total of +4), you can only get a maximum of +2 ability points from all the gear that you have.
First time watcher. Great tips for my upcoming play through of the game (Hard mode). I've had the game on PC for so long and just never found the time to play it. Just picked this up on PS4 and wanted to go through it finally as I've heard nothing but positive things about the game in the past. Trying my hand at the Might/Sorcery build as it seems to have a ton of synergy. Thank you for the tips most of all as I remembered about the stealing and having those items take up space without the ability to sell them, along with the purchasing backpacks. So thank you for all the great tips Caedo :)
Tip for fighting trolls. There's a teleport ability on one of the Destiny cards (Tier 3/4). Once you get this; time it right and you can dodge the troll's strike and pass right through it. They're more vulnerable to a rear attack. Works on Bulgans (red monsters with one eye) too. Especially the Bulgans with shields.
You can launder stolen items so they will stack with your un-stolen items, or simply be no longer marked as stolen by selling them to the Travelers merchant, just sell and re-buy without closing out the menu, so the re-buy price is the exact same as what you sold the item for.
One tip I’ve got. Pay attention to some of the bonuses the gods can give during create a character. Some of them can give really good bonuses. While picking no god gives you an exp boost
I encountered a glitch that prevented me from finishing a quest early into the game, might be useful to keep in mind: The quest is called 'The Commendation' and is given to you in the first town. You'll be asked to kill two bandit leaders and bring back their daggers. One of the bandits is located in a camp to the north next to a river. The bandit (Osgar) spawns next to the river (at least he did for me). If you kill him too close to the river, there's a chance that his dagger will drop into the river. The quest marker will show its location, but you'll never be able to reach it, I had to reload an older save (lost about an hour of play) in order to fix it.
Good tip. Save as often as you can. This is definitely one of those games where if you’re not careful you’ll be losing a lot of time just doing the shit you did an hour or so ago. It’s very annoying.
And you do Kingdoms of Amalur?! Dude love every guide and video since fallout nv, skyrim, fallout 3, outer worlds, and now this! Keep up the great work!
Apparently the special delivery chest alarm when you open it the gear is scale to your level open time so if you wait until you’ve leveled out more and open it you’ll get better gear I’m here with the same gear but it’ll be scaled hire
Very true! I find it's best to save the chest for once you start going up against foes that are too much for your current gear. It'll give you just the boost you need to overcome!
when you use a healers' services you also get a temporally boost to health if you heal or immunity to curses if you remove one and can have both bonuses. also most abilities cap at max+2 and you can get a +1 to each tree from the appropriate factions' twist of fate
There is a duplication glitch, where if you sell an item to a vendor and then go to their inventory; you can buy back the item but, it won't go back to yours. Good for duping repair kits or powerful rings which you can stack etc. hope this tip helps 👍
Re-Reckoning is something different in the whole concept of gaming as a single instance I have to mention I`ve been a gamer since childhood and I work in programming Enjoyed a few games and perspectives here and there This game had the basis and the proper blocks to be in the top 3 RPG-s of all time, at any time How to make this game go next gen you ask? - weapon fast switch(Q) should equip next selection in hand - shield blockers show primary weapon in hand - discution HUD - lower displayed subtitles screen cover - MOUSE3 click - active/disable current weapon - sprint instantly on button press & interrupt on second command - on track responsive shield block
Selling the stuff you don't use from the initial Gohart gear chest is usually just enough to afford a backpack and the Greater Healing potion you'll need for the first Fae quest. There are only 6 backpacks in the game so store wisely. Hopefully they've fixed the Dead Kell bug where excess building materials can't be sold off and force you to lose storage slots permanently.
In Gorhart: in basement of Alchemist, there's a greater healing potion you can steal. Just watch out for the roaming guard. It's in the desk in the other room.
If you use a bow after uppercutting an enemy with a combo you can rapid fire your bow and juggle your opponent across the screen, my personal favorite combo is the staff and bow since the staffs uppercut move hits them multiple times already, giving you a massive combo.
For max "dagger damage" use the Fae Blades with the right setup you can 1 shot multiple enemies at once, for the first thieves guild questline respec your warrior to gain access to 0% of getting caught, detect hidden is very op and when you dismantle stuff you found, you can craft very broken gear mid game, in late game you´re god following this route, dlcs will be kinda tough so... plain ahead.
My tip - if you are surrounded by a group of enemies surrounding you, roll out of the way and get out. If you get out of the area, you will see the enemy returning back to the location they spawn (like spiders). Use range weapons to pick them out one at a time, and repeat this. Also, you can draw an enemy out to kill by firing range weapons (arrows are best) and pick them out one at a time instead of charging in and get surrounded.
I've played through reckoning like 3-4 times on ps3 and once on ps5, unless I forgot, I had no idea the backpacks were a thing. I used your backpack walkthrough to get them all last night 😂
This might help in getting uniques and armour set parts. In the original game, Trolls were an excellent source of uniques and set pieces. Especially the Trolls in Haxhi Dam. Juat save before kill and try again and while Re-Reckoning upped the general drop rate for those items considerably thorough the game, any missing parts might be easier obtained that way. Save before you try to steal from someone and do it before you even look at what he or she has in the inventory. It changes every time you reload and look again. But you have to save BEFORE looking at the persons inventory for the first time. If you like what you find, save again. The inventory will no longer change, even when leaving the area. There are exceptions, where certain people always have certain items (like keys and queat related stuff) and others where they always only just have nothing or a handfull gold or some rather useless stuff. But then, I stole some unique violet weapon from a Fae at the house of ballads, near the start of the game, after reloading about 10 times, while 9 times he had rather useless stuff like votiv or shaped stone or things like that. It is tedious and time consuming but can net you some nice stuff. Chests not opened/looked at the inventory, can also have different things. But you have to leave the area, f.e. fast travel or enter/leave/reenter a dungeon/house to reset the items.
When using stealth and killing something humanoid or a giant kin use daggers as using these will depending on your assassins art perk level will insta kill them when killing animals use faeblades as they are more effective than daggers
i'm not sure if it's the same in this version but in the original reckoning, skills could only be raised by a max of 3 points above their max, so a 5 of 5 skill could be raised to 8 of 5. it's quite amazing but at the same time you miss out on so much because of that cap =/ i had +5 to my might and sorcery abilities but only +3 worked
maybe many people know this but don't destroy/sell your first longsword that you get from the corpse in the beginning of the game, that longsword is unique and one of a kind. You can't get it anywhere.
Important for people to know to build into other stats for dialogue other then persuasion. Dispelling is a great example. Wish I had my levels in that before doing certain quests as there were things I was not able to do because of the lack of abilities in a dialogue
my combo is longsword and chakrams. longsword for direct combat, chakrams for midrange combat. also, go heavy into the magic tree. at the higher levels, spells will be stupidly powerful. i have destroyed an entire contingent of tuathas (hate those guys) in mere seconds. the tri elemental spell to bring them together, meteor for the huge damage, and lightning storm as the finisher, repeat as necessary.
You should also note that in the world of KOA there are trainers that you can use to boost your skills permanently for the cost of gold as well as skill books that can be found in specific locations. For trainers they require you to be at a certain skill range and there are a total of four to five for each skill that can cost you about around 15k up to around 45k. It MAY be possible for one to max out most if not all of your skills if you go to every trainer and found all the skill books, but I haven't fully checked that out nor have gotten that far.
Only if they changed the max level. It capped @ 40 and you only get 1skill pt per lvl. If you use the universalist destiny, the top tier card gives you +3 to all skills. As far as I know THAT'S the only way to max out all skills. Then again, I haven't really tried either ...
Some stealth tips: 1. Probably more of an exploit, most of the time of you save and reload it resets NPC detection levels to 0. You can even do this during combat. Quick save makes this a fast and easy way to stealth kill everything. 2. You'll be surprised what you can hide behind. Parts of your body can be exposed and NPCs still won't be able to see you. 3. Look at the map for the edges, anything that juts out blocks line of sight and can be hidden behind 4. Some enemies are scripted to ambush you when they spawn. They will run to your exact location, no matter where you are or where you move. This can be exploited by hiding around a corner and the moment they come by, before they're gauge fills up, sneak behind them for a stealth kill. Otherwise, allow them to see you then break line of sight and hide, once they lose you they will go back to where they spawned, usually walking directly away from you very slowly and easy to sneak up behind.
*THE MOST PRO TIP THIS VIDEO DIDN'T TOLD YOU:* The item called *Essense of Valor* can literally break your game. There's a quest in the middle of the game that gives you this item so you can defeat a dude. Usually you would spend the item to defeat him and go on with your gameplay. But there's a bug in the game where you can still defeat him without spending the item. The problem with that is that now you're literally invencible because nothing can damage you. The Essense of Valor gives you a flat out 9.999 damage resistance. Some people might like the fact that you can become invencible. But if you want any type of challenge in this game, do not keep this item. If you don't spend it, you can't take it out of your inventory afterwords. So it'll be with you forever. Now I have to start the game all over again after 50 hours of gameplay because literally NO ONE on the entire internet told me that. I hope this helped you save your playthrough even tho it destroyed mine.
A tip for my fellow fateless when entering a new are town or cave etc check all buildings and loot loot loot you can get some valuable stuff and also find quests
Not sure if someone already posted this but: If you have too many skill points to train with a trainer you can respec so that skill is at 0 and then go back and train.
New players on psn: save your points! You can get plus 1 fate cards later so dont go full 5 out of 5 leave it at 4 and can make armor with plus 1 for your skills aswell it saves alot of points and can make you absolutely op if you rush and get for example a card for +1 finesse and a plus 1 gear item.
played through this game a couple of times.. now watching this I may again play the game. crafting weapons and armor and salvaging is key to improve, personally prefer binding wizard and thief as my character. it is worth the purchase.
Hey C-tzar here I took a chance at moon camp I I get clothes for the tailor So sold the shirt and went to buy it back (2 gold) I hit the button several times ended up spending 40 gold However I made a profit of about 1860 gold so that was my great discovery for the game 🥴 Alcohol was not involved in the discovery (damn it🥴)
Go to Ettinmore with a longsword and dagurs try to avoid the Ettins there and get shine and shadow they are so good if you are with the finesse path and so good early on
This one might be common knowledge, but there's a merchant in Mel Senshir who sells backpacks. If you kill him and run out of the town, then come back after an in-game week has passed (beds are helpful here), he'll be back, and his stock will be reset, so you can buy infinite backpacks from him.
You do not need to pause in reckoning mode. Just always hit all three buttons and you will have 100% guaranteed. There is no punishment for hitting the wrong buttons.
It's nice to see this game getting a bit of a second chance after getting shafted by Skyrim the first time around. I've played both, and while I prefer KoA for gameplay and style, Skyrim has a lot more from the modding community.
I haven't finished the Re-Reckoning, but I hope Tirnoch is a little harder to beat this time around. Once I figured it out, she was easier than the Balor.
Kept wondering why my inventory was always full no matter what I got rid of. Then after like 8 hrs of this I discover the stolen item section, I was loaded with stolen crap I couldn't sell cause I haven't found a fence yet. Big whoops on my part. Great game btw, good video. Thanks bro! Oh and I sold my dowsing rod also and couldn't figure out why the plants vanished from my map, again thanks 🤣
I never sell my purple items; I collect the rare purples and gold pieces (These are all OP armor sets) but blues and greens I dump asap due to you have repair them far to often and repair kits are not cheep. I have sets that I can put together that I can one hit kill ultra high level enemies.

One tip for chests. If you find one shortly after entering a new zone, (one that creates an auto save) you can open the chest and if you don't like the loot, can load autosave, re-enter enstance and try again for new loot. Does not work if you save right before opening chest, you need the change of area load screen.
Right I stumbled on to that cool dwarf by accident, but now she's annoying every time I come back to sell lol
Just started playing this game 🎮 thanks for tips. Love from India ❤️ 2023
I went through the southern passage and now theirs rocks blocking it how do I go through
If you do the alchemist's side quest in goheart you can sell your stuff to her for more money than anywhere else early on.
I got 300k gold from her
Edit: nvm i had 2 points in bribe or whatever its called but thats insane only 2 points and that much of an increase?
I continued selling items to her till the end of the main campaign, now I have more than 3 mil and don't know where to spend it))
@@AleksTT_GG With the new DLC out, there's a brand new vendor in Gohart selling Unique and rare items.
Thanks!.
Pretty helpful and saves time lol
I got cursed while trying to get to the Widow in the early game, the spider queen in the cave. I was nearly to her and ended up getting cursed by a chest from improperly dispelling it and I ended up dying to her as a result, and it auto saved right AFTER I was cursed, so. I had to turn around and run like 15 mins each way to the healer. The fast travel system in this is sort of confusing and takes getting used to. Just saying that this is really good advice 😉
works with dismantling objects in blacksmithing too, each time you dismantle you get a random component(s) thats contained within,
useful for salvaging specific items when you upgrade your gear to the next level
You worry about gold? I just use an infinite gold exploit to get all the money I'd ever need!
@@bL4ckSalamander Detect Hidden...I knew I was forgetting something.
bro your the man thank you for the tip
Fun Fact:
+% Melee dmg benefits: Longswords, Greatswords, Hammers, Daggers, Faeblades AND STAFF & CHAKRAMS.
(10% reduction: you take 90 dmg instead of 100 dmg)
The damage mitigation from Skillful defences increases the effectiveness by a % of the value of your currently equipped Shield block amount.
Did you know killing animals like deer and those armored cows gives some of the best crafting components, better than flawless quality component?
Chakrams have melee damage benefits?!? That's weird, as combat animations clearly suggests it's a ranged weapon. The piercing damage benefit applies to chakrams as well, but it's not specified in the game manual ...
@@steenengel2882 the only 2 ranged dmg weapons are bows and sceptres everything is else benefits from melee dmg
If you go to your home in Canneroc you can put stuff in your loot chest then take it out of the loot chest by putting it into the junk section. Then go to your junk and remove it from there and no more stolen symbol. Its one of the few bugs that are awesome.
I have to test that bug now. I usually just fence them at Star Camp.
@@donaldlayton437 - Crafted gems that are in the main bag yes. Sorry I thought that was clear but I should have expanded.
I've played this game for hundreds of hours but didn't know about the reckoning pause. TIL
I always max this first, then merchantile
interesting, I've always focused on maxing out sage and blacksmithing first so that by the time i get to mel senshir i can buy prismere stuff and immediately craft godlike armor lol
@Tankeasy81 sagecraft and blacksmithing are better for midgame. Detect hidden and merchantile first then start blacksmithing and sagecraft
Thank you. 40 hours in,maxed out blacksmithing and I have not tried saving before hand. Ill give that a go.
Or just use myfa rhonwen and send her on trade missions.... much easier

Don't merchant inventories refresh?
@@DutchGuyMike only the items you buy directly
Sold items will stay
I,m not Sure tho since its been a Long Time for me
From what I understand if you don't open the extra content loot box in goerhart all the items are static to your characters level until you do..
Bad move, the system now "locks" zones at level when you enter, so you're making mobs low level which means shit exp as you level!
@@kennethkoerperich - False.
*From the wiki page* Level lock has been removed:
The original game determined the level of a zone on first entering, this was stored in the save file.
Genius! Thank you!

Hey bro what do you recommend I do in regards to the special delivery chest at the first town with all the gear. Do I loot it and sell the gear I won't use or should I leave it until later? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
@@fentonite8882 the special delivery, it's optional to take, on my side that loot only works well at the start, the sole reason for that its because of the craft system, I can 200k of crit damage whit a crafted 2H sword, these items have limited potential.
i'm actually on level 41, and that loot in my opinion does not work as endgame of high level gameplay, craft you own items, always.
I love this game so much. I'm so happy it's getting new life.
The weapon mastery abilities cant get higher than three and every other ability is locked 2 points above the maximum
(so spending max point into an ability then using amour to get plus 2 on that ability after having a twist of fate that grants you an additional point is not worth)
Those are some really good tips, I didn't know what counted towards inventory space. I'm gonna have to toss the junk notes and books I'm always walking around with. I'm loving this remaster!
(for pc) you'll never need a single skill point in dispelling
just quick-save before every dispell, auto-dispell, load back if you fail, even very hard chests are at least 10% chance so your bound to get it open (tho from experience, there's no guarantee at all of better loot in harder chests, hopefully it's different in the Remaster)
Edit: this essentially works for Persuasion too, but you'll need to use your instincts here, can't expect to save before every person you talk to
this works too with lockpicking, but apparently a successful auto-lockpick will still remove a single lockpick from you, of course lockpicks are dirt cheap
that's just save scamming... but I get your point.
So much effort for the likelihood that you'll only get some common sagecraft items or some gear you'll just end up selling or salvaging lol
You're right with regards to wards on chests, but points in dispelling actually has an effect on one of the first faction quest lines in the game ...

The long bow actually works well from a distance if you want to soften targets. Gameplay really keeps you engaged. These creatures will come for you!
Or fire chakrams. My build in the original was a finesse/ magic build and chakrams are just extremely fun.
It occurred to me recently that I can do that...next time I reset my destiny I plan to do that...
I've never gotten that to succeed unless I found the Dispelling Skillbook (Ballads Library-upstairs) first.
I learned from other videos and wiki pages for re-reckoning that you can have up to 8 spells which I'm really happy about
It's always handy to have Fate Potions with you especially during boss fights or mini bosses.
I just stared so this helps me quite a lot. Thank you for the wise tip.
I've played this game like hundred times and still love it......
i dont know why this game diddnt get more love, it honestly is a very well made game and fun. it does feel kinda simple but i like it, but at the same time it has depth. it is a very good game. like theres this one quest where this guy took a potion and thinks hes a alchemist and said he fell on someone and killed them and later on i came across the body exploring and you could see where he fell from by accident, proberbly running through the forrest. like the world story telling is also really good. and the quest feel more like you are really doing things for people because of how well the story telling is too. this is a very good game and only gets more intresting the more deep you go into the game. so if you are new keep going and you will really like the game.
The Multi-Shot Skill with the bow can become a devastating close range shot gun.
Max it soon so you can make the fate potions though
• blacksmithing is irrelevant until near end game as you can't acquire the components needed to make stuff better than anything you can just find until end game, which is based on your level not the points in it. Until then, you'll have enough money to buy anything you want
• dispell isn't needed and if you really want it, just save scum. If you don't wanna save scum, at least you'll have the money to keep curing yourself and repairing gear
• persuasion is save scum-able and usually inconsequential
• lockpicking should be the last as the mechanics are extremely easy to succeed and you'll have more lockpicks than you'll know what to do with
• stealth is ONLY relevant if your whole character is built around it
I think this can help a little bit:
- Open the books you have, before destroying or selling them you can read them first.
If you going against something hard you can pop into YSA and get those altar effects its a lot of them all in one spot off to the entrance.
I just started playing this, completely blind. Got it for a few bucks in a bargin bin. Seems like a lot of fun, really enjoying it so far. Thanks for the tips to help get me started. :) the spells and combos just seem awesome so far.
All ready good points and no wrong info or anything to add off the top of my head. Thanks for the video, keep it up o7
Hey bro what did you do on regards to the special delivery chest? Did you leave the items for later or sell them. My not sure what to do
We you first start I highly recommend adjusting the field of view to full and adjust the camera distance. The default is brutal.
always create your own gear its most of the time stronger then whatever you can find even sets and always prefer percentile bonus over pure stats
great video, this game is an underrated gem.
Glad to assist! Hope you enjoy Amalur!
I encountered a glitch that prevented me from finishing a quest early into the game, might be useful to keep in mind:
The quest is called 'The Commendation' and is given to you in the first town.
Nice found, i notice another body (not the dagger user) fell into the river, and i cant loot it, i guess i was lucky
@@Johnhamsta too late bruh I opened it and equipped the gear in the beginning
when you use a healers' services you also get a temporally boost to health if you heal or immunity to curses if you remove one and can have both bonuses.
also most abilities cap at max+2 and you can get a +1 to each tree from the appropriate factions' twist of fate
Now THIS is a tips and tricks video!! Awesome work on these!
There is a duplication glitch, where if you sell an item to a vendor and then go to their inventory; you can buy back the item but, it won't go back to yours. Good for duping repair kits or powerful rings which you can stack etc. hope this tip helps 👍
Re-Reckoning is something different in the whole concept of gaming as a single instance
I have to mention I`ve been a gamer since childhood and I work in programming
Enjoyed a few games and perspectives here and there
This game had the basis and the proper blocks to be in the top 3 RPG-s of all time, at any time
How to make this game go next gen you ask?
- weapon fast switch(Q) should equip next selection in hand
- shield blockers show primary weapon in hand
- discution HUD - lower displayed subtitles screen cover
- MOUSE3 click - active/disable current weapon
- sprint instantly on button press & interrupt on second command
- on track responsive shield block
Really nice, I would only add that finding the skill trainers on time is really important to get that free upgrade point.
Seeing essence of fate being sold hurts my soul
Thank you for this! I'm starting a playthrough today!
Now, due to an update, the chest in the beginning town scales to lvl 40 so if you wait you can get some excellent gear if you wait
Is this verified
@@jswmmy1435 check the post on steam about the update
My Platinum run through on PS3 was Finesse and Magic. So fun. I implore everyone to try this game.
Literally just found it with PS+ and played it just to see what it was like and now I can’t put it down. Definitely gonna get the platinum.
When using stealth and killing something humanoid or a giant kin use daggers as using these will depending on your assassins art perk level will insta kill them when killing animals use faeblades as they are more effective than daggers
i'm not sure if it's the same in this version but in the original reckoning, skills could only be raised by a max of 3 points above their max, so a 5 of 5 skill could be raised to 8 of 5. it's quite amazing but at the same time you miss out on so much because of that cap =/
i had +5 to my might and sorcery abilities but only +3 worked
you got the dowsing rod in the original but it was froma quest later in game and you didnt keep it long
I just got Downloaded Amalur on PS5 (from PS+ library). These are some amazing tips. I originally had dismissed Detect Hidden
maybe many people know this but don't destroy/sell your first longsword that you get from the corpse in the beginning of the game, that longsword is unique and one of a kind. You can't get it anywhere.
It's only unique in that it's junk af..the design is kinda ok though
Welp, too late. Thanks anyway 😂
What do you mean? Like, can I upgrade it or something or is it entirely cosmetic reasons?
you can boost skills past their cap, but only by 2 points. exp. if the base skill caps at 5, it can only be boosted to 7.
I want to say that including the DLCs you can max everything if done correctly.
Only if they changed the max level. It capped @ 40 and you only get 1skill pt per lvl. If you use the universalist destiny, the top tier card gives you +3 to all skills. As far as I know THAT'S the only way to max out all skills. Then again, I haven't really tried either ...
Some stealth tips:
3. Look at the map for the edges, anything that juts out blocks line of sight and can be hidden behind
*THE MOST PRO TIP THIS VIDEO DIDN'T TOLD YOU:*
The item called *Essense of Valor* can literally break your game.
Thanks for the tips I just picked up the game and this will help a lot.
A tip for my fellow fateless when entering a new are town or cave etc check all buildings and loot loot loot you can get some valuable stuff and also find quests
Not sure if someone already posted this but:
If you have too many skill points to train with a trainer you can respec so that skill is at 0 and then go back and train.
Hey C-tzar here I took a chance at moon camp I
I get clothes for the tailor
So sold the shirt and went to buy it back (2 gold) I hit the button several times ended up spending 40 gold
However I made a profit of
about 1860 gold so that was my great discovery for the game 🥴
Alcohol was not involved in the discovery (damn it🥴)
Go to Ettinmore with a longsword and dagurs try to avoid the Ettins there and get shine and shadow they are so good if you are with the finesse path and so good early on
You can save lock picks by canceling the left stick action as soon as the pick starts to shake …
Had just discovered reckoning pause before watching this!
I loved this game on ps3 beat it multiple times! Cant wait to play it again!
