I have the NBA Jam 4-player Arcade1Up cabinet with the WiFi multiplayer (which is really fun). The concept of this mod is great, but I'd like to figure out a way to switch between the Arcade1Up board and the Raspberry Pi.

Just got this bundle kit. It's a little pricey and took a bit of patience to install (because I'm kind of picky and like things done correctly and neatly...so I even took the opportunity to properly clean the inner screen while I had the chance when modifying everything else), but so damn worth it in my opinion! I love it! My kids love it! It will most definitely provide us with long term entertainment!
NEVER EVER MOUNT THE CONVERTER BOARD TO THE MONITOR FRAME LIKE HE DID ALWAYS MOUNT IT TO THE WOOD! if you mount it to the frame it can short out things because the metal and its not good dont do it! mount it below like where he showed in the first place why he mounted it to the monitor is beyond me
I am assuming since this connects to a pi you can simply connect the HDMI to a PC instead once you use your kit? Thinking of investing as a PC would be a better option for me for more powerful games like dreamcast and ps2.
@@ace_ofspades5064 ive bought 3 now, one was a gift. they are awesome imo. took about a week for them to ship during the holidays it seems, but theyre putting them together custom colors, ubs, trackballs, etc so the short wait makes sense. before the holidays i got them a little sooner. only thing i would add is that the cable from the screen to the hdmi converter is not long enough (this is arcade 1 up design). you can see that in this video. i taped my converter on a piece of cardboard, and then taped the cardboard w converter to the back of the screen. I absolutely love mine, i just wish i had more time to play
Where does the sound come from if you don't buy the speaker upgrade? You say the drop in control panel is all you need yet when you show the back it looks like the mono speaker is no longer there.

Why don't you just go ahead and sell finished cabinets because at at the end of the days it seems you're your just using the shell and scrapping all the original guts! Seems absurd AF.
@@Cargo_Bay I ended up going with buying a cabinet from "TheArcadeGuys" instead of risking one of these. They have a shop on Etsy with dozens of reviews with pics and all. They have a small arcade1up sized cabinet choice, or a 42'' inch among others, I went with the 42''. And they offer mods such as trackballs and light guns, which is all I wanted in the first place. Granted it's more expensive than one of these Arcademodup kits, but they're doing all the work including my custom cabinet art. So no risk on my part lmao But stuff like this is all meant for people who don't know how to mod this stuff themselves anyway. If I knew how to do all that, I'd most likely just do it on my own.
does it play marvel vs capcom 2? tekken? rival schools? or any 3d fighting games? heck does it have the simpsons arcade! i wish someone mode the simpsons arcade so you can select characters instead of it being stuck on a certain player controller like bart on player 1 lisa player 2 etc
Looks like this build turns on when you plug in the raspberry pi. I wired my own so that the On/OFF switch does this and it's easy to do. Search YT for the tutorials if you want to try yourself.
Sweet set up, definitely going to look up your site once I get a cabinet. Also, are you able to drop the control set onto most Arcade1up Cabs, like the asteroids?
Yes. This model works with all cabs except golden tee which has a slightly deeper panel which we support too, but would need to know if that is the cabinet you have. All others are good.

It’s alright but I keep having problems with mine, the SD card had problems after a week they sent me a new one but now the sound isn’t working. For maybe a total of 48 hours of game play not a good buy ,looks cool but not worth it.

Great video! It's very helpful. Question regarding the HDMI/VGA board mounting, is there any reason to be concerned with having it on the metal as opposed to farther down on the wood? Grounding issue or otherwise? I've just seen it recommended in other videos of installing the same part to get it down on the wood, but the cables don't look like they are long enough anyway.

I have the prototype ready and it is awesome. My team is about 2 to 3 days behind the onslaught of orders for these across all the other cabinets. Once we get caught up completely and some of the tmnt on the shelf I will release video and order page.
We got our kit earlier in the week. Instructions could be better with bigger pictures to see, this video was very helpful but skips a bit of other stuff that needs to be connected in the box. So between both, watching this and reading instructions over and over during the install, it took 4 hours to get it all done. I wanted to make sure I did it right, especially my first go at it. If I had to do it again it should only take an hour. One of the wires on the light strip needed to be reconnected. When you install the light strip, get some double sided mounting tape like 3M or Alien tape, and help secure it on the ends and the middle. The light strips started falling shortly after, but this is my experience with all light strips. Our speaker box panel was 1/4 of an inch too long, as it was longer than the existing panel, so it would bend inward exposing other parts of the inside cabinet, looked bad, so we put original panel back in for now. We placed the speakers on the bottom of the inside of the cabinet for now. The speaker wires could have been pre stripped, and connected/crimped to the connectors. One of the three predrilled holes on the lower part of the marquee were off, so we could not screw that one in to the lower part, but is still held in place by the other two. We are going to buy a longer connector to put the marquee light switch on top of cabinet so we can turn it off when not in use. We may purchase different speaker, or a line in speaker, or use my old Bose speaker that has plug in audio wire All and all still a great purchase and are happy with it so far.
One thing I will say is be very, very careful with the HDMI to mico connection cable. It is very delicate and crimps and breaks easily. In any event I bought two kits from them and if need be I would buy more.
Why get a Pandora 11 and hook up to tv. What’s the point in booking up to a arcade. Cheap 1up one. What you spend you can buy a big screen tv. Hoop up to wall stand and done. Lol
I took my time put everything together( I bought the XL), took quite awhile. The sound was great, the buttons and trackball lit up, no visual!!.The monitor acts like it wants to light up, but no picture. $525.00. Hopefully it's a quick fix
Did you ever figure this out? I’m having same issue. Screen is grey but sounds and lights work. When I hook up to a tv it also works. Monitor is not fried, I’ve powered up other control panel to confirm. Ty
I actually bought the 19" upgrade monitor. What a trainwreck, they must have hired Stevie Wonder to put the components on, it was on the side. Thus it could not be connected to the components( I ordered a vertical monitor), I ended using an extra computer monitor. Worst Company ever.

I just got my kit today. I bought my Arcadeup1 off amazon like a week or two ago, but I didn't build it since I was waiting for the mods to show up. I figure why put it together twice. I will probably do everything tommorow or over the weekend when I got time do it right, but I'm working all the steps to prep myself for the moment before I call it a day.

@@paulburrage5499 They're okay. Not as good as a console controller when playing games like Zelda, a little slower switching directions. It has USB ports, so I'm going to try to hook a controller up through that.
Yes. If you hold down coin and press x top middle player button you have access to the retroarch menu. In there you can talk a little dip switches per game.
None of the Mortal Kombats have sound and X-Men vs Street Fighter doesn’t work either. Customer service is terrible, will just point you to the FAQ’s section. Complete was of money!

@@arcademodup2286 Yeah, I think it's because they added the Simpsons Bowling trackball, which then displaced Homer's controls. They should have left those controls alone and placed the trackball a little higher on the panel.

Do not have a gun mod yet. Guns get expensive pretty quick and in my experience most guys that use guns do a full windows pc build which adds more to cost.

There's a 2p ROM version where you can select the character. Same thing goes for X-Men and TMNT.

I think you underestimate how big SD cards are these days.

I just got my kit today. I bought my Arcadeup1 off amazon like a week or two ago, but I didn't build it since I was waiting for the mods to show up. I figure why put it together twice. I will probably do everything tommorow or over the weekend when I got time do it right, but I'm working all the steps to prep myself for the moment before I call it a day.

He didnt show where to connect the wires he just dropped the controls in and then skipped to it working.
Question for you guys- the screen is bigger, but is it better than my gen 1 monitor? I have a vertical screen and you can only see properly on one side.
My arcade1up did not come with a computer everything is original. I need upgrades for the ORIGINAL Arcade1up not after you modified it

Are you doing anything with the mvsx? Would love to buy some enlarged arcade stick kits and was hoping you’d be working on an speaker mod to move them under the marquee.
I was thinking of upgrading the sound panel on my Killer instinct Arcade 1 up cabinet. Would the J panel upgrade work for that cabinet?

Wow well done coming from a guy who knew nothing about modding last year spent lots of time and did all the mods which was cool but what a little pain in the ass, here everything is done yea you have to pay but time is money especially the whole image on sd card thing what a pain so I thank you guys and will be placing an order real soon

Just found a space invaders locally clearenced for $75. Walmart find aswell. It's possible to find them. Happy hunting

Was wondering if you can help me out i config my ipac controller to the button config you have and only recognized the Y button. And its config to keypad mode the ipac.

@@paulburrage5499 They're okay. Not as good as a console controller when playing games like Zelda, a little slower switching directions. It has USB ports, so I'm going to try to hook a controller up through that.

Yes. If you hold down coin and press x top middle player button you have access to the retroarch menu. In there you can talk a little dip switches per game.

I bought their 4 player upgrade kit. Awesome kit! Simple plug and play. NO ISSUES at all.
Are all the games already on the system, or did you have to download them to your Raspberry Pi SD card?

If I'm still using the stock speakers that came with the cabinet, where do I plug my aux into? The Android box? Monitor converter ?
None of the Mortal Kombats have sound and X-Men vs Street Fighter doesn’t work either. Customer service is terrible, will just point you to the FAQ’s section. Complete was of money!
How can I just get the control panel without the Pi (already have one with 10k games)? I want to upgrade my 1 player 4 in 1 Ms. Pacman cabinet to a 2 or even 4 player multicade.

Can you give us a better control panel for the Simpsons arcade? Homer's joystick/button layout needs to look more like Marge's.
You mean the buttons lower?
@@arcademodup2286 Yeah, I think it's because they added the Simpsons Bowling trackball, which then displaced Homer's controls. They should have left those controls alone and placed the trackball a little higher on the panel.

Do not have a gun mod yet. Guns get expensive pretty quick and in my experience most guys that use guns do a full windows pc build which adds more to cost.
Just wondering. Any updates of having RetroPie into raspberry pi 4? I'm trying to mod my mortal kombat arcade1up by playing just 90s arcade games (not console games or high graphics games like n64 or ps). Cant decide which raspberry pi i need....

hola frend....perdona no se escribir en ingles, espero que pueda traducir .tengoi un problema con el idioma e comprado un spinner GRS 12 IN 1, en tu canal ,le comprado en amazon no consiguo instalarlo en mi maquina arcade con una raspberry 3 b plus,con recalbox 6.1 estoy muy decepcionado porque me gastado un dinero y lo tengo tirado en un cajon,con un cab que sobra...y por favor hechame una mano para instalarlo.... una pena gastar 70 euro con la placa de salida usb y el spinner y no poder jugar arkanoid y tambien inbstalarlo a juegos de coche pole position ,arkanoid block block...ecc. ecc.mucha gracias espero tu respuesta .....muy guapo tus videos ,tiene cosas muy bonita....
