Fix your head up display for free on a 2004-2008 Pontiac grand prix. I have another video with more detail this is just to show you exactly where the spring is located.
If GM would have just made the spring retainer metal instead of plastic there wouldn't be an issue. Besides that though the 3800 series 3 is a tank. One of the best engines ever made.
Okay I see the spring and I understand of the up and down motion to show it however if there is no light does that mean the light bulb is out or is the fuse out but I don't think it's the fuse cuz I can see everything else except the heads up display. Please advise on that. Also I'd like to see how you took out of the vehicle I understand you say that there's another video on that but we can't find it. I'll look again another day. Thanks for the video hopefully next time you can get somebody to help you to hold a camera while you're doing the work that would be so much better just saying. But the video was very helpful as now I understand what the problem is and what the mechanism is that needs to be fixed the simple spring. Wonder if you can go to the hardware store and buy a good copper or stainless steel spring so this doesn't happen years down the road again. Amen😇 Thanks 😎🦜
If the spring broke off try reattaching it right next to wear it was. What I did is that I heated up a small needle and drilled a hole right next to wear it was originally and reattached the spring and that fixed it. I couldn’t see the light either until I reattach the spring

I tried to move mine back in the winter time and it was stiff. Then I tried to move it up so I could see it and then it snapped where you adjust the up and down. Is this still the spring?
I got the HUD out and made the hole for my spring but the image will not move up. I can hear the motor trying to move and the spring is still attached, do you have an idea of what could be causing this?
Person5421 if the spring was not attached when you took out the hud this should work. Make sure you attached the spring in the right location. I have another video that's more clear of where the spring is located on the hud

Destroyed my bezel covering the HUD not that this video had anything to do with that. Sun, amplified by windshield and plastic does not mix.

I had no idea what I was doing I just went for it and try to fix it myself and fortunately it worked out for me.

Manuel Moreno I attached the spring in the right spot, the HUD image won't move up or down though. I can hear the motor trying but it won't move
