Manuel you're the man. This has been by far the best instructions I have seen. I took out my HUD today and repaired it as I watched your video step by step. I had to remove the apillers covers to get out the dash peice you already had out. That part was tricky. When the guys at the body shop last year fixed this dash peice they broke my windshield in the process. Slow wins the race on this step, I promise. I used JB Weld to adhere the spring back on since there was no plastic left for me to use where mine broke. The JB Qwick Weld was awesome. I mixed it and dabbed it on like dabbling on frosting. It hardened and I connected the spring. Thanks again!

Only thing I can add that maybe I just missed was I had to take off my A-pillar trim to get the dash trim by the windshield off as it is tucked under the pillar. Did you have to destroy the top of the dash in order to get to the HUD? Update: These bezels become brittle over the years of sunlight exposure. You can buy replacement bezels online.

By that i mean is ,i started to lift up the hud plastic bezel and the whole piece is from the left to right at the bottom of the base of the windshield including the little red security light and the light sensor. Is yours the same ? Or is yours just the square plastic that covers the HUD opening? Oh and does your car have side impact air bags? Im totally happy with my purchase except for all the repairs that im now facing. So if you can get back to me or even better shoot another video showing your HUD PLASTIC BEZEL removal. Maybe your car wasn't equipped with the security option. I tried to see if i could see in your video if those 2 sensors were present. And my car has had a windshield replaced prior to me buying it. Is your windshield still a factory unit ? The reason why I'm asking you about this is that i heard that all HUD equipt cars had a special windshield that had a special coating applied to the inside of the windshield. Have you ever heard about this ? Anyway thank you so much for your efforts to share with us your experiences.

I had trouble trying to get it off without cracking it up I ended getting the hud out but I cracked up the far panel close to windshield I couldn't get it out u think you could show you get it off.thanks

My HUD isn't displaying will the same steps for removing the HUD the same for a 2006 GXP? I can look down into the HUD and I can see it, but it is not projecting onto the windshield, is that a spring issue?

You should ask someone like a shop.. I want one in my g8. I'm sure it could be spliced into the harness and just remove the top of your dash to see if there's enough room..

I just watched it again in slow motion and i can see the red security led and the light sensor on your car's dash . So I'm believing that your car HUD dash is of a 2 piece design. Unless is was accidently broken . Either way still a good video
So I'm assuming you tried to take it off from the top first by the looks of it. I just bought one a month ago and just didn't want to take the 2 hours to fix it cuz I still have to replace the cat (which apparently can't be cut off) and my abs/Traction control as well as the assisted steering. Idk if it's a wheel speed sensor or wheel bearing but I've checked the connections and they're all clean. Have you gone through that?
Ya, that's all that's wrong with mine. I was just looking for a way around taking out the dash and how the top cover comes off. I can lean down a little while I'm driving and see it through my steering wheel on my windshield.

i did bust the shit out of my trim on the top but its sun baked and not much you can do.

Why is your top trim for the defrost vents separate from the HUD it should all be one piece...

you would not be able to install it in your car because it needs to have the hole for the hud and all the cables would need to be there.
