Successful people don't become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance wealth, a great career, purpose is the result of hard work and hustle over time. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life

    Has to be genuine praise.
Don't just say things to make people happy.
They know when you are just saying positive things to butter them up.

Thank you for the great explanation! Totally on point, we usually miss recognition and we think it's only about compensation, realizing too late the impacting this has on moral, engagement and talent retention.

So excited to learn about the other side of business that gets over looked. Startups use weekly “Snaps" for Peer-to-Peer Recognition. This speaks volumes to increasing motivation, and productivity. Yes these metrics are harder to quantify but essential to reduce turnover and having a negative culture. Thank you Leila!

I keep coming back to this - very well mapped out. I'm interested to know how you measured % increase / decrease in culture and engagement etc (Even how you specifically measure profitability, turnover etc) - would love to be able to track all of this.

Leila, thanks for sharing your valuable experience. We used to do similar recognition program, but then we stopped(not entirely but the quarterly rewards/prizes, etc.) It’s also disheartening / maybe they don’t really like it perhaps esp. when employees don’t even thank you eg. Birthday/Easter/ Christmas presents or appreciation drinks/refreshments sent to the office for everyone to share, etc. it’s also hard to measure the outcomes for the time/efforts implemented. Would you mind sharing how you measure yours please if you have time to do so? Thanks

Just pay your employees well, and use uncapped incentive schemes. All the other "recognition" is just patronizing.

My wife outperforms other workers doing the same job at 2x-4x output. She gets rewarded by harassment from managers for the most absurd things. Where are these magical businesses that reward people for performance and teamwork? How would you find one?
