I’ve been eyeing that rodecaster for a loooong time just can’t commit to it :( Yeah I understand the feeling about companies and have relegated to that practice occasionally. Small content creators, mainly new ones jump at the opportunity to get hardware, especially if its “free”. I appreciate the kind words and managed to fall in the drone rabbit hole after watching some of your videos as I just bought one 😂

IMO it’s really dumb that it doesn’t have software, and it’s also kinda stupid how you can’t program the included sound effects because as a content creator and a streamer I’d like to use every single part of it, my streamdeck is good it just doesn’t have sliders or jobs which sucks and maono does some pretty good stuff for what their products cost, I’ve got a maono USB mic (been using it for about a year) and I’ve had no issues with it at all, it’s the 422 version and I even got their headphones which sound very good for the price. I hope they consider fixing these because it’s the little things that can throw everything off, I mean they literally make USB mic so I think having an adapter or just 1 USB port on it where you can plug your mic in to make it work would be really good and I also find it good that they offer Bluetooth support and that’s pretty damn cool however what if I don’t want to use my phone but my Pc to control audio? I could use my streamdeck to control my phone that’s connected to the maonocaster that’s connected to my Pc, which is just way too many steps for it to be a smart idea, instead what would be amazing is having software that you can chose which application or audio device is playing your music and then import that to the caster using the USB C to use the same features as if you were to just use Bluetooth normally such as the one that lowers audio when you’re speaking, these little things really just threw everything for me, I really did want to get one of these since I wouldn’t want to buy a goxlr since streaming and content creation is a hobby for me and that would be a bad move money wise, I guess I’m expecting a lot out of this product? But then again it’s so close to what I’m describing and im not so sure if they’re trying to be a mixer but what I’m sure about is they’re trying to be a lot of stuff in 1 product but not good in all of them equally, I guess you could say they are the jack of all trades but the masters of none (obviously not none but the bad kinda outweighs the good here). I also think it’s truly amazing that they made it battery powered and made it so you can stream from and to your phone but them focusing on that kinda makes me think they forgot the people using their PCs (which would make up more of a percentage of people when it comes to streaming) don’t get me wrong because this thing is damn amazing, I can’t name a single other product that offers the same capability for phone streaming but thinking about it most apps that have the option of enabling camera when you stream or just recording a video on your phone with the camera app will automatically pause any audio rendering the feature kinda useless when it comes to what it was somewhat aimed for, mobile streamers, which is where it would benefit Pc streamers more or just content creators in general, this product IMO offers something that I don’t think anyone else is tackling which might seem dumb but when you’re going into a new market you’d probably want to do it as best as you can so when bigger names join the game you’d already have a decent and well built product that can battle and might even do better than them. And again, this is very clearly aimed at people who have not invested a lot or do not want to invest a lot into professional equipment for something that they consider a hobby or not sure if they want to continue and pursue. If maono pulled an apple and made it so all of their products can integrate so seamlessly and clean and then they offer low priced but pretty decent and well made/built equipment the small streamer or content creator will look at it and will consider going for the maono product rather than gl bankrupt buying all the expensive gear people who do this for a living do. One of the best if not the best feature that the elgato mic offers isn’t that it’s a decent mic but it’s the software it comes with, since you can only use it with the elgato mic that’s why you’re gonna stay stuck in that loop while maono they can play it different, they offer a lot of mics and all of them are different and aimed at different people however if they have a software that could act like a hub of some sort for these products and then introduce stuff like this caster or a mixer any small streamer who bought their mics to start will see the mixer/caster and will consider getting it since it’s cheap (you can buy it without the mic for cheaper) and they’ll get so much out of it and get used to it and the software that they just won’t want to change it, instead they’ll just upgrade to a better maono mic so the software still supports it and maybe get a bigger maono mixer (a product they might want to release later) which would cost more but have the same integration which pulls the customer into an ecosystem and it’s basically just like if you’ve been using IOS or Android for your entire life, why would you want to change your operating system? You’ve already gotten used to it, your phone isn’t bad and if it is you’ll just buy the newer or more expensive one, and everything software wise is the same from the cheapest to the most expensive one. IMO this is a good business model because if done correctly the customer will be locked into it and that would generate maono profit but also loyal customers who would go spreading the word (obviously with some marketing from their end too, which for the record is either really bad or doesn’t exist because I’ve never seen a maono ad). I currently use voicemod for the sound effects and voice changers etc and I use voicemeter as a mixer just because I want to route my audio through different channels so I can manually or using my streamdeck do basically what this product is doing except if this product was good enough at its job then I see this flying off the store shelves like how gpus are flying off the shelves right now, I don’t know how to suggest what I said in this comment to maono but I sure do hope they see this and consider it.
Props to you for finding a way to criticize the product without completely undermining its value. Everything you mentioned from software, usb usability, as well as all around ecosystem integration are actually things I've mentioned to my contact at Maono as ways to improve upon this device. Frankly I think its very early in development for the company and just by looking how the market is changing it's easy for us consumers to want a single product with the best (or a mixture of very decent ones) features from all the companies in the space. If you ask my opinion on the device as a whole, I think it targets a very entry minded niche since this is the "lite" version of the "Caster" as well as facing the market as a versatile "Portable all-in-one" rather than a device for streamers specifically. Time will tell, especially with the developers at Elgato listening to the community and having a pretty big interest in streaming/content creation. For now, I know Maono is also listening to their customers as they're making some changes to this device specifically (which ill touch in a few weeks) swapping some of the ports which were made useless. But thank you for broadening my view on the device with your comment, even though I'm just a "reviewer" it really helps having another take on something which I might have missed!
@@Nickyo thank you for your reply! I’ve read it and I do hope they listen to the suggestions, imo even if the product is new I still think having a software or somewhat of a ecosystem at the start will make it easy to integrate more products into it and you can always update the software. On another note,do you have any idea about what the requirements for becoming an “influencer”/reviewer for maono? I can’t find any numbers on their website but I’ve sent them an email and they asked me to link my TH-cam channel so I linked my other one yet they mentioned nothing regarding a minimum of suggested follower/sub count, I’d really be interested in giving them suggestions considering I’ve been using their mic and headphones for almost a year and I’ve got some of my own thoughts on some of their other products

All you guys reviewing this product just go through and press all the buttons and turn all the knobs. No one has went through the trouble of how to set it all up and get it running with obs /slobs. And get it functioning for streams.

I can’t find any numbers on their website but I’ve sent them an email and they asked me to link my TH-cam channel so I linked my other one yet they mentioned nothing regarding a minimum of suggested follower/sub count, I’d really be interested in giving them suggestions considering I’ve been using their mic and headphones for almost a year and I’ve got some of my own thoughts on some of their other products
uh i have a wierd thing with it, i can't talk into it when i use it in a discord voice chat. does anyone have a solution?
Have you changed the input settings on discord?
@@Nickyo i don't know what i have to change, i got it connected through my astro a50 but it doesn't pick anything up on discord but it does work on like twitch/streamlabs-obs odly..
Go to settings -> voice and video -> input device and change it the what you need hopefully that works
How do you mute?
so does this push the sound from your computer to the headset? i want to use this for gaming. does the monitor slider adjust all PC volume? Or only raise and lower how loud you hear yourself in your headphones? if im playing a game or something am i forced to adjust sound volume from the windows taskbar?
Get a Xenyx 302 USB that's what I use
Great video,
would this work with a 2 pc stream?
Technically yes
@@Nickyo so i can send both pc’s audio and make it come out together so my obs can hear it?
All you guys reviewing this product just go through and press all the buttons and turn all the knobs. No one has went through the trouble of how to set it all up and get it running with obs /slobs. And get it functioning for streams.
The thing is it’s not really marketed for streaming rather podcast, music mixing and as a sound card. But I do understand your point and I probably should have added a slight obs interaction so I do apologize
I mean no one has even said if the usb is only for power or does it actually Interface with the pc for audio to and from the caster lite.
That looks pretty cool
Great.. Is it work work with pubg mobile?
