Looks like no more cheap shifters. I managed to snag mine for $61. And the cheapest clone now is a 1320 Performance one for $130. Basically a Torque Solutions on sale.
I owe you a thx :) Picked this cheaper version up and got it installed today with only a couple of hiccups. I was able to drive around and test it out and it felt great but long story short, I get to do it all over again tomorrow. I need to put the reverse stop back on cuz I didn't realize you can only do it when the side shift arm is off. 🤦♂️ Least next time it will all go faster:)
Just installed the boomba on mine. Literally looks like the same part lol. I would definitely buy this and save the money over getting the boomba if I had to do it again. I even posted a thread on nasioc asking about it but people made me feel like I was buying an inferior part, which I don't think it is. There aren't many failure points in the short shifter so I don't see that being an issue.
I know a lot of people are big on name brands, and for good reason, a lot of times cheaper parts aren't as nicely built. But with some things that are literally just a solid peice of metal (mounts, shifters, exhaust, etc.) You really end up just paying for the name that's stamped on it.
I'm about to throw my shifter through the window... The two ten mm bolts at the bottom of the assembly to get the shifter and that white insert out, seem to quite literally be welded to the studs. I stripped the plastic and cannot get the square portions to stop spinning. I'm at an absolute loss and now my car is useless for idk how long until I can get the thing apart. Any insight??
hey again , had another question . did you notice a major change being quieter in tone at the cold start and normal daily driving after the phatbotti tune ?
Did you use any of those bushings and block out plates I see everyone putting with the Boomba ones?? Seems like they saying it doesnt work on 2020 wrx??
Sorry for the late reply, I'm just now seeing this. I am running a brass Shifter Bushing, Shifter Stop, and the boomba short shifter plate along with this new ebay short shifter. I definitely recommend all of them! The Shifter Stop and Bushing will make the stock Shifter feel much more solid, the Shifter Plate makes it feel a bit more direct and shorter, and the short shifter makes the throws even more short, and make it feel a lot more solid!
Love the video, and really enjoy following along and taking notes on inexpensive alternatives parts to the hyped brands. great content! I think the reason most parts for these cars are more expensive as they should be, is because people keep paying whatever they ask and assume the more expensive the better, I call it the Subaru Tax, you don't see that in every other platform.
I've definitely noticed that. If people didn't buy these overpriced parts im sure the prices would go down a bit. Coming from having DSMs most of my life almost every aftermarket part for that costs about half of what it does for this car.
No. It will work on the 2017+ imprezza. The 2017+ has the same shifter as the 2015+ wrx, earlier model years have a different shifter. You want to take you center console apart, and see what shifter you have. You may be able to use a one for a previous generation WRX. .
I just double checked too and it looks like it is. I swear it said like 20 or 30 available. Maybe I can message the seller and ask when they'll have more available!
@@StreetInspired1 ok no worries, it looks nice and simple. Glad the SS worked out. I watched your old video when I installed the Boomba on my WRX. Appreciate all the content! Your car is coming along nice!
Perfect for my 330k mile rallycross toy!

Quality of this shifter is very good.
Damn.... I just got my full Billetworkz kit in the mail sitting on my tool box at work for this weekends project. Great info and video as always.
Naw it’s worth it bro don’t cheap out on your car
The billet shifter is great bro. Don't question it. It's a quality piece.
@@mattevans1643 no regrets here. Billetworkz is best short throw shift kit I’ve ever had.
Awesome seeing you have a new new car and still going and testing for budget options!
Looks like you put in a lot of work but just made it look easy..... great details.!
Great video. The price went up to $62 now. Guess I’ll have to order it before the demand raises the price even more. Thanks for the info!

I used a flat head to punch the pin into the shifter. And the an allen key held by pliers to punch it through. But yes, punches are way better.

1 year late, but I drilled 4 small holes into corners of the square and deep into the plastic. Then I used 4 M3 screws to stop it from rotating.
hey again , had another question . did you notice a major change being quieter in tone at the cold start and normal daily driving after the phatbotti tune ?
Didn't notice any difference in sound after being tuned or cold start.
I enjoy your content man. I hate to ask though, but how’s it still holding up 9-10 months later? Lol
The short shifter held up good..
transmission not so much. Lol Transmission blew 2 months ago and ive since STI swapped it.
@@StreetInspired1 oh snap that’s right. I forgot you swapped the trans out. I wish I could afford to do that 😂
You still running this shifter? Never knew this existed.
Still running it. No issues so far.
@@StreetInspired1 looking into getting this. I have the cobb shifter plate already, are you still happy with it? Would you install it all over again?
@@Qazxswer68 So far I'm still happy with it and it was worth it to me!
@@StreetInspired1 Thx :)
I have been running this for a few months now too. There is a shift plate for 60 out there too. I have not tried that yet.

how will this work and STi? I don't think is make for an STi?
Is white lithium grease required? i used a universal grease instead.
I think you should be okay using universal stuff!
for subaru impreza sport 2.0 2014 with 6th engine fb20 do you think it works? thanks
No. It will work on the 2017+ imprezza. The 2017+ has the same shifter as the 2015+ wrx, earlier model years have a different shifter.

It’s back!
Edit* just snagged myself one.
Were you e tuned?
Yeah E-tuned by Ron at Phatbotti Tuning.
Will it fit a 6speed?
This is on the 6 speed wrx transmission. It will work on any 15-21 wrx. It won't fit sti though. The sti 6 speed shifter is completely different
What shift knob is that?
Honestly I'm not sure. I got it for free buying some used muffler deletes a while back.
