I picked up the full BW kit (shifter, plate & bushing) and I gotta say, WOW! What a difference - feels like a different transmission! The shifter install was fairly easy thanks to your video. Plate takes a little more finesse and a few swear words. SO glad I made the switch!
overwhelming, yes. but not impossible. A trip to your local Harbor Freight for c-clip pliers and small punch set plus the common tools/sockets and you are ready. Very involved with lots of tiny steps, but not as difficult as the auto lock micro switches in the door of my VW.
Just installed BW short shifter 2023WRX and so different, took me a day to get used to it, takes effort, super short and tight, l ordered BW shifter extender for a little levarage and the BW short shifter is low compared to stock, Shift knob makes a difference on this shifter so, ordered grim tallboy and BW micro shift knob
the adapter was the 1 thing I didn't like about my BW shift knob (and had to fish it out from the knob after several days in the freezer). Tip: mark the top of the adapter (black marker) at the knobs "12 o'clock" position so when you have to retighten the adapter, you will know where to line it up and get closer to perfect. if you don't have a shift pattern/design, you don't need to worry about alignment...
Keep up the content man love to watch your vids extremely informative. Just did all this Saturday originally started with the Prerrin Brass Shifter Bushing as the first mod and then went ahead and bought a Torque Solution STS, a Cobb Shifter Plate Set to 35%, and also have a Cobb Weighted Knob, and I have got to say I Love this shifter feel so much now, it feels amazing and its extremely short with extremely minimal shifter play in gears if any. HIGHLY recommend to anyone that may do what I did to be careful with the two bolts that hold the stock shifter stop u need to adjust it after you reduce the shifts this much the bolts are prone to snapping mine both snapped replaced them with better quality bolts.
Great video. If I do it myself, I would probably start on a Saturday morning and finish it on Sunday evening while having a few extra bits and nuts leftover at the end 😃
Took me 8hrs 🥹 so many pieces coming off and had to readjust them. The bottom plate was rubbing so i had to hammer it down to dent it. To the point i dismantled it 4 times But it was all worth it 😅
Hey Bud! Zach Rondestvedt Folly Beach SC Bought 23 WRX few months ago. Made some mods. But have the Billet works shifter coming tomorrow hopefully. Just wanted to shout out to you Brotendo; seen several videos in my life here on youtube, and watched tons since the WRX "PeeDee" is her name lol. But your really good at this man. Looking forward to videos to come! Would be rad shoot the hoot some day haha. One last thing Man, the white is debatable my favorite on the WRX.
Hey Kevin thanks for the tutorial can you please list the tools that you used for this installation! I would really appreciate that since I dont have any tools to install! Thank you 🎉
So on mine. The bolts youre removing at 7:55 wont come off. The "square" piece on the other side keeps spinning inside the plastic so the bolt never loosens. I cant figure out how to get it to stop spinning. Any ideas?
what kind of grease should i use to lube the joints and shaft? can i just us white lithium grease that i have lying around the house? or should i go buy something else to use?
really fast l went back to dealer and got STI exhaust and big difference wow, keep the stock exhaust because now it is loud and feel everything, sounds good but no more quite car. Next upgrade is Noble Steering Wheel, Perring intake and Billot works short shifter heehee, l ordered nice stuff and dealership agree to install, l have 2023 6 speed premium and will upgrade the sun roof and tint .. stereo upgrade too hahahaha. Dealership will not do the Cobb so this fall Cobb tuning and wheels with Noble carbon duck bill wing hehehe. also sound deadening and comfort seats will finish the car heehee
Did your car come with the sti short shift kit?.. my car supposedly came with it and it doesn't seam very short maybe as short as my stock shiftkit in my 18 golf r.. same knob as your has
dudes paying nearly 1k a month just to drive this car... like wtf. dudes gonna be nearly 100k+ deep into the car when its payed off in 4 years lmfao. And then it will blow up. Already modding it to beat the shit out of it to blow up.
I'm certain he's not going to beat on it and it away wet. This car is half of his channel, so why abuse it? Modding is well planned and the parts are proven. He wouldn't receive sponsored items if those companies didn't believe/have faith in him (or his influence). As far as the money goes, that's his worry. Why should you care what he's in it for? I see ppl buy busted cars and then drop 4x Honda Civics $ on them to achieve salvage title status. This here is peanuts in comparison.

Thanks for showing that buying this and doing it myself ain’t the move. This mod looks overwhelming
Lmao right!

try the COBB weighted tall shift knob or other tall knob. the extra height and weight can assist with the leverage you are after

Glad you were able to find your perfect setup!!
Very slick and professional video! I like the non-invasive music. Great job!
Great video. If I do it myself, I would probably start on a Saturday morning and finish it on Sunday evening while having a few extra bits and nuts leftover at the end 😃
You can do it!
Always enjoy the VB content. Thanks Kevin!
More to come!! Thanks for watching!
Awesome quality as always Kevin ! Good visual, tutorial and explanation❤
(I miss buckey a little bit ngl, hope he’s doing well)
Thanks! Buckey was behind the scenes 😅

Hey, as long as you got it all back together!!
I have the STI short shifter but definitely will now get the Shifter Stop. Thanks for sharing.
No problem 👍
Very detailed video mate. Well done. Loving your content. Can't tell you how many videos I have just binged watch on your channel haha. 👌👌
Glad you like them! Thanks for the support!
Nice. I'm going to try the OEM STI one myself, from the dealer.
Why is it easier or something or just prefer it

Great, now I have to buy the WRX so that I can buy and install this short shifter
That'a what my husband said!!
@@BikesCarsAndSake 😂
Yes you do hahaha

Did you figure it out? he never responds to the important comments I noticed..
Well i was going to attempt installing this myself. I am mechanically inclined, but i think i would rather pay someone to do it.
Great video, very informative, detailed and instructions were clear.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and it’s very detailed 🙏🏽
what kind of grease should i use to lube the joints and shaft? can i just us white lithium grease that i have lying around the house? or should i go buy something else to use?
Excellent video 👌🏽
Nice to see you a Kevin
Nice!!, I just bought one last night!
Hope you enjoy it!
Awesome tutorial.
I need a friend like Kevin 😢
Great video, thanks man 👏
No problem 👍
Well now I'm extra sure that I'd be better off just getting a shifter plate haha. Subaru really doesn't want us to swap the shifter I can see.
Can you think of why my shifter won't move left or right any after I got everything clipped in underneath and my dust cover back on?

How much did they charge you for doing that?
that’s heehee so heehee cool! heehee
Does this void warranty ?
How much would it cost a mechanic to do this install? Bc watching this was like defusing a bomb..
5:10 where are the harnesses you kinda skipped the process of removing it.
Would this void my warrenty?
Not necessarily, but it may cause them to deny your warranty if they deem it caused the issue.
Did you use white lithium grease?
probably just grabbed whatever grease I had.
👍
Did you used to work for Subispeed?
Yes I did for about 8 years until they suddenly fired me: th-cam.com/video/eogRkD9AXQo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GZ-lcHc6oJkZoEnX
I miss the frs content.
It's sad to see it in my garage 😭
Did your car come with the sti short shift kit?.. my car supposedly came with it and it doesn't seam very short maybe as short as my stock shiftkit in my 18 golf r.. same knob as your has
It did not, but the STI short shifter doesn't really shorten the throw by that much.
@KevinVo the reason I ask is like I said my car doesn't feel like it's very short. Doesn't feel like my buddies 2020 sti shifter at all.
...much easier when I had my 04 SRT4 😂
pshhh.... you haven't felt sloppy and long 🤣
I'm always sloppy and long 🤣

1k per month? Where in the world did you pull that number out of? 🤣 thanks for the laugh

@@KevinVo how much are you paying monthly on the car? Subaru's website says for 60 months you would be paying 900+ monthly for the wrx 😂😂😂ouch
I pay 225$ a month for my 23 Wrx premium. Insurance is a costly 140$ per month unfortunately
