You can trace that with the mitochondrial dna cause is more accurate and don't cross with the nuclear DNA... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_studies_on_Moroccans?wprov=sfla1 more than 90% is Caucasian

    A question for the Moroccan lady, I am curious to know if your parents spoke the Hassaniya Arabic dialect or if they were from the south of Morocco/western Sahara?
    The reason I'm asking is because if it is the case it would make a lot of sense and explain the high middle eastern DNA, as you probably know the Banu Hilal tribe that was of Arabian origin mixed with Egyptian because they settled in north east Africa before migrating to north west Africa and were expelled by the Almohad Berber Dynasty from Tunisia to Morocco where they were employed by Almohad dynasty to fight the advancing Christians in Spain.
    I also see a lot of facial resemblance with people from western Sahara but I could be wrong.

    Sadly my Dad refused to take the test and I think that part of it was that he didn't want to know how much African he was. His European family has been in the Caribbean since the 1600s and he sees himself and is perceived as white. His brother did take the test and confirmed our mixed heritage: Spanish, Italian, Greek, Nigerian, Native American, Middle Eastern (Lebanese and Syrian), Ashkenazi Jewish, Senegalese, British, Chinese and Irish/Scottish/Welsh!

    I don’t know why she’s acting all surprised and disappointed that she’s 36% Middle Eastern. Most of North Africans now a days are mixture of Arab/Berber because of the spread of Islam centuries ago. FYI, North Africans are actually considered Caucasians too, not just Middle Easterners like you said. Look it up. You’re not “African” because Morocco is in Africa, same as Middle Easterners are not “Asian” because they’re in Asia.

      Amazigh AFRICA I never said Berbers are Arabs. I think she thought she will have more "African/Black" in her DNA than Middle Eastern, simply because Morocco is located in Africa. lol For example, look at Mario Lopez and George Lopez, both dark skinned Mexican Americans. They both have considerably higher percentage of European in their DNA than Native American. We all know thats because Spain and Portugal conquered and colonized the Americas Centuries ago. Do Mexicans consider themselves Europeans? No, and actually the majority of Mexicans are very proud and identify more with their Aztec and Mayan cultures. The same thing happened to North Africa by the Arabs who spread Islam 1400 years ago. You should be very proud of your Berber culture and identity, but to be shocked and disheartened that your DNA has a chunk of Middle Eastern in it, is laughable and tells me you don't know your history.

      What does Berbers settling in Nigeria have to do with anything? None of these countries existed 500 years ago. What this says is that she shares genes with people in that part of Africa. Her ancestors could very well have been Black North Africans it doesn't mean that any ancestor of hers migrated to Morocco from Nigeria. There are still many native Blacks in Morocco.

    The right term is 'imazighen' (ⵉⵎⴰⵣⵉⵖⵏ). 'Berbers' is what the ancient Greeks called us, that's how they used to call non-Greek speaking people and is not the right way to call yourself. The Moors were the arabized Imazighen which were still Amazigh through blood but got arabized through culture. The Amazigh race is a race with diverse skin color, native to Africa, coming from the same family as the indigenous people of the Horn of Africa. Imazighen got the haplogroup E-M81 and the folks over in the Horn of Africa got E-M78. The haplogroup E is native to Africa.

      You don't know what youre talking about.
      Amzighen are a ethnic group and not a race!
      Race refers to a category of people who share certain inherited physical characteristics, such as skin color, facial features, and stature.
      Northen Morrccans the original moors dont have any skin or facial features that are similar to those from the horn of africa.

If i'm 79 percent amazigh then that's mostly who I am.... Sorry but she sounded naive to be shocked with the Middle Eastern part. Like most North Africans are a mix of African and Arab with bits of European. Hello? Arabs migrated to Africa to spread Islam and then migrated with the Natives to Spain and Portugal and established Andalucia. That's how the husband ended up with Middle Eastern. When Andalucia fell to the Spanish, Christopher Columbus was there and took Andalucian slaves who were great navigators. It is said that when they landed in the Caribbean, some managed to escape and sought refuge among the natives. People need to read history.

    The tainos didn't all die out, some went to the mountains, and that's how they survived. Some mixed in with the people, and that is why your genes are still there
    When it comes to percentage, the most recent is the most, the smallest is the earliest. So, that means if you have huge European chunk, some people in your family recently married white, but before that you were most likely nonwhite. You know this because of the "better the race" ideology of a lot of latins.
    No disrespect, just telling the truth of history for nonwhites. If you see white in our bloodline, it was either from rape, or people marrying out for a better life due to the hard life we had from racism. This can also apply somewhat to North Africans, this is why she has Senegal in her genes, but doesn't know anyone who is from there in her family, most likely those people married out for a better life, but they were forgotten by the family who they married into. Or some of the moorish soldiers had some people from that land, the moors used soldiers from that area as well as that was another strong hold for them. Looking at her, you can see she has some of that in her, just like a lot of North Africans, they have more black in them compared to Arabs in Turkey or other parts of the middle east, but even they have black in them just not as much as North Africans.
    RACISM IS NO JOKE!

    • @KARIMLIZARDI
      @KARIMLIZARDI  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many are confused with her comments on that. Moroccans never have that much middle eastern if they do it's about 0-15 percent so when you hold more it's Deff shocking to know your not in the average nor statistics. Although Morocco has a strong Arab culture, there culture is in fact very mix and very diverse. They aren't Arabs as some might proclaim and you also need to take notice that the North African ancestry provides is not what North Africa is too. It's not regarding any type of mixture.

    • @sakinaelguouri7033

      My personal DNA test shows that I'm 44 percent north African and 20 percent middle-east and I find it normal because I know Arabs from the Arabic race came in deed to Morocco not only the (Arabic culture) which is made of a mixture of the cultures of the races they conquered.
      thus, I'm talking DNA not culture.
      And concerning the Berber they are not a mixture of races either.

    Most Moroccans, along with other Maghrebis like to emphasis their aboriginal Berber or Maur heritage, However waves of Middle Easterners have arrived in North Africa over the millennia. Phoenicians came, to form the Carthaginian Empire, Jews have lived in the region since before the time of Christ, the Muslim invasion brought Arabs and the Ottomans settled Turks and others in the region. So Ruby shouldn't be surprised she is so mixed.

    • @Paul_W.E_Ingham
      @Paul_W.E_Ingham 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My "most Moroccans" is based on what I've seen on TH-cam and elsewhere. I don't have statistics, do you have any indicating the reverse? Your report on Moroccan ethnicity is more detailed than my comments. I agree with all you say and don't think there is any conflict. I was responding to Ruby's incredulity over her Middle Eastern dna. Its sources could be from multiple and indeed ancient sources. No doubt there are Maghrebis who do emphasis their linguistic unity with the rest of the Arab world and their Arabic bloodlines. Until recently Arab origins equated to high status versus Amazigh "aboriginals". Amazigh Pride is a relatively new phenomenon., but a growing one.

      I was actually referring to the Maghreb in general. The Ottomans occupied Algeria in the 16th Century and Tunisia soon after. Significant numbers of Turkish people known as Kouloughlis settled in the region. The Saadi and Alaouite dynasties in Morocco held the Ottomans off. However all Muslim powers used Turkish and Turkic mercenaries to boost their armies from a very early period.

    Hi guys. Nice vid. I was wondering where in Morocco you're from? I know Spain still has several colonies in Morocco but those colonies, like Ceuta, were Portuguese first. In 1578, the mad Portuguese King Sebastião invaded Morocco and was destroyed. It was a massive defeat akin to that of the Spanish Armada against England. Thousands of Portuguese were taken prisoner. I'm wondering if that's where a lot of the Iberian genes in Morocco come into play. The Moroccans invaded Portugal, the Portuguese invaded Morocco. I'm Azorean and in the Azores, there are lots of stories of Moroccan pirates invading and pillaging the coastal villages. Nothing like a good invasion to mix the races. Cheers from Canada!

      Hey, me always...what the hell are you talking about? Muslims invaded and conquered the Iberian Peninsula and were there peacefully and "defenceless" for over a 100 years? Ridiculous. Maybe you're getting too much of your history from illiterate imams? The Moors invaded Iberia in 711. Would you not consider that a land grab? The Moors were only kicked out of Spain in 1492. That's a lot more than 100 years, amigo. The Reconquista in Portugal was finished in 1249 with the re-taking of the Algarve. Then, in 1415, Prince Henry The Navigator, returned the favour by bringing an armada of "peaceful and defenceless" Christian invaders to Moroccan shores with the conquest of Ceuta. That was the beginning the European colonial era. Iberia was a war torn shit hole for over a thousand years, from the fall of the Roman Empire until the end of the Chrisitian Reconquista. You could make a claim that Muslim rule brought peace and enlightenment to Iberia, but that would be looking at history through rose coloured glasses. The truth is, Iberia continued to suffer civil and military conflict as different Moorish kingdoms warred amongst themselves. There were also further invasions of Iberia as other Moorish factions moved in from Morocco to conquer the Moors who were already there. So called Muslim historians rarely ever mention that. The truth is, the Iberian Moors were no different really, from the Iberian Christians further north, who were killing each other when not fighting the Moors. Case in point...Dom Afonso Henriques, the first King of Portugal, rebelled against his own mother to found one of the oldest nation states in Europe, then he turned his sword against the Moors to the south, while always keeping a keen eye on what his cousin, the King of Castile was doing further east. Nobody was peaceful with anybody back then. It was a land of bloodthirsty warlords and crazed fundamentalists...an Iberian Game of Thrones. The Moors left their legacy on Iberia with their architecture, language, culture and DNA, that much is obvious. What's not obvious, however, is that you know your history. Hopefully, I was able to educate you with some knowledge.

    • @TagusMan
      @TagusMan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds to me like you are an Arab and Islamic imperialist. You guys love talking crap about Western imperialism and never stop to think that you love to practice exactly the same bullshit. Iberia, Portugal, Spain, Al Andalus, Algarve, Granada or whatever, were never yours to begin with. You invaded the land, conquered and subjugated the people, and stole the resources. That's classical imperialism. Let's hear you admit it. You took the land from someone else, and now you are crying that someone had the balls to take it back. And good for Morocco, you should celebrate the fact that you beat back an invading army. Every country loves to celebrate historic military victories. So then why are you complaining about Portugal taking back the Algarve from you lot? Why the hypocrisy? Not enough sunny beaches in Morocco? Look man, I didn't come here to get into an imperialist pissing contest. I was interested in the magical saga that is human DNA, regardless of religion and obsolete empires. DNA doesn't give a shit if you're a Muslim or a Christian or a Pastafarian. It's what makes these DNA videos on TH-cam so compelling. So please shove your religion and historic prejudice up your ass, and go away. Here's hoping your DNA can still bless you with a brain cell or two.

Also slaves were brought to mexico to a lesser extent than the Caribbean so I think its such a beautiful thing to have European,native, African and middle eastern blood. That's dope brother. People need to understand that the middle eastern doesn't solely come from Spain. Many Spain took their DNA and majority have ZERO middle eastern or Asian. While others have less then 1 percent. Many people joined the Spainish war because they where minority's. They weren't really Spainish as now your DNA has shown. It's intreasting how history is.
      Remember when Christopher Columbus discovered the West Indies him and his accomplices where all itallian working for the spainard King and Queen. Just goes to show you that the people that came weren't all Spanish.
      My DNA was further professed and all of my Iberian peninsula is French all of it with some itallian and of course trace amounts of Russian etc. this DNA come from my mother is half french. Her family jewish within religion and Russian within traces majority came from basque region in France and went to the islands.
      My dad on the other hand is 20 percent Spanish. Spanish DNA doesn't really run within my blood. Which is intreasting when you put in perspective that we come from a Spanish speaking countries but it goes to show you how diverse everyone is.

      I know my african was 10 percent and my middle east was 7 percent. off the top of my head the most was european mostly from iberean peninsula. had 15 percent irish which was shocking but makes sense bc a few of my facial hairs are red. Then on my native side it was like 38 percent which I love.

    Just to inform their are no Puerto Ricans that are "pure" or "mostly" Taino Arawak. Just because someone may look very Native American doesn't mean they are pure or mostly Native American. It's one of the things that make phenotypes and DNA so complex to understand. Taino DNA amongst Puerto Ricans usually varies constantly between 20-10%. However you'll meet some people who are close to 25% and some who are as low as 3%.

    Is your wife amazigh because in Morocco there is primarily two ethnic groups, Arabs and Amazigh. Some are mixed but because Muslims go by paternal lineage as well as the fact that Y chromosome passes down only through the father, we go by the fathers lineage. 36% percent Middle East isn’t shocking considering many Arab tribes moved to Morocco and rest of North Africa historically. Many of them settled by the Atlantic coast as well as the Western Sahara part of Morocco along with tiger regions in North Africa. Also Arabs aren’t Caucasian , they only were labeled Caucasian by Europeans later on but that was to fit them in a narrow set of labels.

    Moroccans today are predominantly amazigh/berber. Some moroccans have more middle eastern dna than others, some have barely any middle eastern in them but every moroccan has amazigh ancestry. Im from North of morocco myself and have done the ancestry dna test not too long ago. I have 89% north Africa, 5% Portugal, 2% Senegal, 2% Spain, 2% Ethiopia/Eritrea. Makes sense I guess but im sure there's some Arab in that 89% due to the growth of Islam, so to get some more accurate details ill try another company. Either way I'm satisfied with my results.

      As a Yemeni, I can say what you said makes sense. Here's what I found out about the subject:
      The possibly autobiographical information found in Sargozasht-i Seyyednā is the main source for Hassan's background and early life. According to this, Hassan-e Sabbāh was born in the city of Qom (Iran) in the 1050s to a family of Twelver Shī‘ah.[6] His father was of Yemenite origins, who left the Sawād of Kufa(modern Iraq) to settle in the (predominantly Shi'a) town of Qom.[8][9]

      [8] Lewis, Bernard (November 2002). "3. The New Preaching". The Assassins. Basic Books. ISBN 978-0-465-00498-0. Hasan-i Sabbah was born in the city of Qumm, a stronghold of Twelver Shi'ism. His father, a Twelver Shi'ite, had come from Kufa in Iraq, and was said to be of Yemeni origin.

His father, 'Ali b. Muhammad b. Ja'far b. al-Husayn b. Muhammad b. al-Sabbah al-Himyari, a Kufanclaiming Yamani origins, had migrated from the Sawad of Kufa to the traditionally Shi'i town of Qumm in Persia.
      Typically, a Lebanese native is 44 percent Arabian, 14 percent Jewish diaspora, 11 percent North African, 10% from Asia minor, 5 percent Southern European and 2 percent Eastern African.
      This reference population is based on the native population of Lebanon. As some ancient populations migrated from Africa, they passed first through the Middle East en route to Eurasia. Some populations stayed in the Middle East and over time developed unique genetic patterns. The mixture of Arabian, Northern Africa, and Asia Minor is unique to this part of the world. The Arabian and Northern Africa components reflect ancient patterns of settlement and interaction in the region, while the Silk Road may have served to add genetic patterns from farther north and east.

      Marcus Julius Philippus (Latin: Marcus Julius Philippus Augustus [a] c. 204 - September 249 AD), also known commonly by his nickname Philip the Arab (Latin: Philippus Arabus, also known as Philip or Philip I), was Roman Emperor from February 244 to September 249. He was born in Arabia Petraea, the Roman province of Arabia, in a city situated in modern-day Syria. He went on to become a major figure in the Roman Empire. After the death of Gordian III in February 244, Philip, who had been Praetorian prefect, achieved power. He quickly negotiated peace with the Persian Sassanid Empire. During his reign, the city of Rome celebrated its millennium.

      The Ghassanid Kingdom (Arabic: الغساسنة‎‏; al-Ghasāsinah, also Banū Ghassān "Sons of Ghassān") was an Arab kingdom, founded by descendants of the Azd tribe from Yemenwho immigrated in the early 3rd century to the Levant region,[1][2] where some merged with Hellenized Christian communities,[3]converting to Christianity in the first few centuries AD while others may have already been Christians before emigrating north to escape religious persecution.[2][4]
      After originally settling in the Levant, the Ghassanids became a client state to the Eastern Roman Empire. The Romans found a powerful ally in the Ghassanids who acted as a buffer zone against the Lakhmids. In addition, as kings of their own people, they were also phylarchs, native rulers of client frontier states.[10][11] The capital was at Jabiyah in the Golan Heights. Geographically, it occupied much of the eastern Levant, and its authority extended via tribal alliances with other Azdi tribes all the way to the northern Hijaz as far south as Yathrib (Medina).[12][13
      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghassanids
      Although the Nabataeans were initially embedded in Aramaic culture, theories about them having Aramean roots are rejected by modern scholars. Instead, archaeological, religious and linguistic evidence confirm that they are a northern Arabian tribe.[
      The precise origin of the specific tribe of Arab nomads remains uncertain. One hypothesis locates their original homeland in today's Yemen, in the southwest of the Arabian peninsula, but their deities, language and script share nothing with those of southern Arabia. Another hypothesis argues that they came from the eastern coast of the peninsula
      Syria Palaestina was split into Syria Prima, Syria Salutaris, Phoenice Lebanensis, Palaestina Prima, Palaestina Secunda and eventually also Palaestina Salutaris (in 6th century).
      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palaestina_Salutaris
      The Itureans (Greek: Ἰτουραῖοι) were a semi-nomadic tribe. The exact origin of the Itureans is disputed. Most scholars identified them as Arabs and are located in Beqaa and Mount Lebanon
      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iturea
      The Greek historian Strabo believed that the Phoenicians originated from Bahrain.[18]Herodotus also believed that the homeland of the Phoenicians was Bahrain.[19][20] This theory was accepted by the 19th-century German classicist Arnold Heeren who said that: "In the Greek geographers, for instance, we read of two islands, named Tyrus or Tylos, and Aradus, which boasted that they were the mother country of the Phoenicians, and exhibited relics of Phoenician temples."[21]The people of Tyre in South Lebanon in particular have long maintained Persian Gulforigins, and the similarity in the words "Tylos" and "Tyre" has been commented upon.[22] The Dilmun civilization thrived in Bahrain during the period 2200-1600 BC, as shown by excavations of settlements and Dilmun burial mounds.

Like come on Morocco do have Arabic culture and also many speak Arabic language. Did you even not except having Middle Eastern in you? Did you forget umyid empire where many Arabs have moved to morocco and that goes for Moroccans moving to hijaz Arab Peninsula for pilgrim also the moors? Don't forget Arabs who happen to be Semitic race are the oldest race among Jews. Abraham and Hagar lived in Mecca! And the biggest Abrahamic religion started in Middle East. If I was you I'll be happy with my result.

      When was my wife ever not happy or denying her Arab/middle eastern roots? When, because maybe I might have missed that or maybe your being ignorant and assuming this reaction. First and foremost, my wife is very happy and proud of her middle eastern roots because she was "SHOCKED" because many Moroccans who do their DNA do not have Middle Eastern or never as high as 36 %. Although morocco has a lot of Arab culture you'll be surprised to know that many have little to none Middle Eastern DNA. My wife overall is very proud of her African roots which is what she is majority as well as her Middle Eastern.

      Sarah Alotaibi. I think it's because most Moroccane have very little Middle Eatern DNA. Most of us are more mixed with European/ subsaharan blood than middle eastern blood. Most of us are Amazigh, not arab.

      Because Arab identity spreads like a Virus.
      A virus that effects many different people from around the world. Today millions of people who are not ethnically or genetically Arab have been misled into believing they're Arab.
      When Islam spread, many people in their ignorance adopted Arab identity. Mainly for political gain or social gain because those invading Arabs controlled the administration of those regions. No doubt indigenous people were discriminated against or made to feel their cultural practices and identity were un-islamic. This undoubtedly triggered a language shift to Arabic and an Identity shift which led who many deciding to self-identify as Arab.
      Many people from Eastern Arabia (persians), people from the Levant (Phoenicians and other Levantine people's), people from North Africa ( Egyptians(Copts & Ancient Egyptian descendants), Sudanese and Amazigh/Berber) became Arabised as a result of Islamic conquest of their lands.

      Listen,
      If you have a problem with what I have to say, then refute it and provide your info.
      Don't ask me why I'm commenting, ask these African Americans and Saudis and non African people why they're commenting. Majority of comments are from people of different nations all having one interest "Ancestry".
      Let's not forget, you're the Anti-Moroccan & Anti-North African person here who insults their own people and claims to be Arab when you tested as 11% and Ancestry would give me almost 40-50%.....

    I don't think you necessarily have a direct Senegalese ancestor. A lot of North Africans have Senegalese Ancestry because Senegal is close to North Africa.

    • @KARIMLIZARDI
      @KARIMLIZARDI  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meli ssa Yeah, You think ? Maybe so, most North Africans do come across Senegalese but not at such a high percentage. While doing research I remember coming across scientific theory on if a region amounts to 10% or greater then someone, somewhere, in your linage had to have been that full region.

    • @KARIMLIZARDI
      @KARIMLIZARDI  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meli ssa Maybe generally speaking I guess it's like when an individual has a father who is full black & mother who is half black half white ... That person amount to being "a quarter white"

    • @mi-moon_
      @mi-moon_ 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know what you mean ... North Africa is very mixed, any NA who pretend to be pure Amazigh is wrong.
      My aunt took a dna test and she also had Senegalese (I'm part Algerian), another NA, a Tunisian posted her results and had also a significant amount of Senegalese. I just think that most NA have Senegalese and Malian ancestry and that's why we all have a little dna from these particular areas and some probably have more or less than others.
      And it's pretty obvious when you look at our families. I have cousins with green eyes and blond hair but also very dark-skinned ones with thick hair.
      It's nice to see other NA taking the test, it proves that we're mixed and maybe it'll educate some people that know nothing about their ethnicity.

      I agree, from what i've seen sofar 10% Senegal is really not that unusual for Moroccans. And it could very well have been inherited from both parents as well as all 4 grandparents or all 8great grandparents even. It's sort of similar to how your husbands Native American % got "recycled" across the generations because this ancestral component is so widely dispersed in the PR genepool.

    Kevin, were you not aware that you are an African? I only ask because in your intro you did not mention your African lineage.

    • @KARIMLIZARDI
      @KARIMLIZARDI  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was very aware that I was African always because my fathers family. My father raised us to be proud Afro boricuas. I consider my self Afro Caribbean as I was raised. I knew I had African because my lips, my hair which dreads naturally when very long and my features. I didn't express my African as I wanted to because I was Soley speaking about my Lizardi family and my Sein family which are both European names. My biological name is Karim Sein Lizardi. I knew that once the Lizardi came to Venezulea they married Afro Venezuelans and Afro Ricans once in the island but I don't know much of that family. Also beside my family members being either Muslim, Jewish or Christian a big chunk of them practice Afro Caribbean religion called Santeria so when I had gotten Togo and Nigeria I automatically knew and connected that to my ancestors that came from the both originated voodoo countries into the island of Puerto Rico.
