      Remember skin color has nothing to do with it, always start with a blank canvas. Eva Longoria is like 70% European and she is very dark skinned. I have a cousin who is very Ivory white skinned (cannot tan just burns) with big green/blue eyes and he is 60% Native American, 10% sub Saharan African and 30% Iberian go figure?

      My skin is so white people often think I'm Italian or Spanish. When I got my DNA results, I scored 37-41% Native American and I wasn't surprised at all. I even thought I'd score close to 50% NA. Why? Because my dad is and looks very Amerindian. My family even thought he was 100% at one point. My mom's 1/4 Chinese and 3/4 Spanish and I was surprised when I scored almost 18% Chinese. Thought I'd score 12-13%. Funny how my exotic looks can fool anyone. But in the end, looks don't mean much...

      "When it comes to skin color, the team found a patchwork of evolution in different places, and three separate genes that produce light skin, telling a complex story for how European’s skin evolved to be much lighter during the past 8000 years. The modern humans who came out of Africa to originally settle Europe about 40,000 years are presumed to have had dark skin, which is advantageous in sunny latitudes. And the new data confirm that about 8500 years ago, early hunter-gatherers in Spain, Luxembourg, and Hungary also had darker skin: They lacked versions of two genes-SLC24A5 and SLC45A2-that lead to depigmentation and, therefore, pale skin in Europeans today."

We are Catholics Ecuadorians, or Mexicans or Chilieans, etc and Indians are not part of our social group either. We don't even speak the same language. Different religion, customs, everything except for the commons ancestors.

      Why they define themselves as "hispanic"
      Hispania ( now Spain ) was the name of province of the Roman Empire.
      They were born in Spain?
      In any case, they are Hispanic Americans as natives of countries that were colonies of the Spanish empire.

    Jennifer is a typical Latin American: Mixed Spanish and Indigenous blood - with more European than she realizes. Then, the Spaniards themselves were already mixed with the Moors, who where North African, and Arab Middle Eastern. It is known that some Polynesians (Oceanians) reached the Americas long before the Europeans did, so that is a possible explanation - or just some random immigrant who somehow ended up in her country some two hundred years ago. The Spaniards colonized the Philippines and stopped in the Polynesian islands on the way, so that may be how her ancestor got on board.

    • @RafaelRabinovich
      @RafaelRabinovich 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Iberian = from the peninsula where Spain and Portugal are.
      Ashkenazi Jewish - Jews from Eastern Europe. Somehow a small percentage shows up very often in Latin America, and I don't know if there was an unknown XVII century immigration that mixed into the local Spanish population and did not keep the identity, unlike later Jewish immigrants. I know about my family's immigration, but that is in the late XIX century.

      Another thing people don't understand about DNA screening in general, is that you can have a 1/2 Black, 1/2 White Mom & a 1/2 Chinese, 1/2 Arab Dad & you *ARE NOT* going to be 1/4 White, 1/4 Black, 1/4 East Asian 1/4Middle Eastern. You get 1/2 your DNA from each parent. But that *DOES NOT* mean you get it in equal portions. You might get 3/8 Black & only 1/8 White from Mom & 11/16 Arab but only 5/16 Chinese from Pops. It's not like dividing up penny candy when you were a kid. You could be my 100% blood Brother & our percentages could be different & I might get DNA that you don't have at all! I might get all the now & laters & you might get all the lemon heads.
      I doesn't work like that.

    • @andromedastar4900
      @andromedastar4900 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Perhaps the Ashkenazi Jewish result that Hispanics get is from the fact that Ashkenazim are related to Sephardic Jews and Arabs, who inhabited Spain for a long time. It's basically Middle Eastern DNA.

    • @CaalamusTube

      Sephardim, Mizrahim & Ashkenazim have different DNA. I don't test positive for "European Jewish". But I do test positive for North African/Middle Eastern. I'm Sephardi. Ashkenazi will test positive for European Jewish, maybe some Middle Eastern & also Central European.

      I get that all the time too, particularly Indian. I have to tell them that no, I'm Mexican. Yet they tell me that there's no way I'm Mexican as my face somehow screams out Indian!
      I believe I could probably have some gypsy ancestry as gyspsies are a group of people that left India hundreds of years ago and made it into Spain and from there, to the New World.
      I have also gotten Middle Eastern a lot. Once a Hispanic lady warned her daughter and my mother not to get close to me as I could have a bomb. This was shortly after 9/11
      I was only 9!

    • @ruthyblakester
      @ruthyblakester 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It gives more info on each region so for Native American it gives you Mayan, Native American, Inuit. For Asian, you will see the same thing, it gives slightly more detail compared to Ancestry such as Indian, Sindhi, Bengali or Cambodian, kinh, Thai. I think it's cool.

    • @GuardianoftheGoldenStool
      @GuardianoftheGoldenStool 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +RUTH HOLCOMBE Ok,...I'm uploaded my raw dna data to wegene and it came back Mayan. I somewhat expected this, seeing that dnaland identified it as Amazonian, and it is not uncommon to find Mayan and South American dna a midst Native Americans of the Southeast, especially among groups such as the Creeks, and also among some Cherokee subgroups. The Guale people of Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida were believed to be of partial Mayan stock, and several of the early Florida peoples such as the Timucua, Calusa, Tequesta, Mayaimi, Jeaga, and Ais were said to be migrants from the Caribbean and South America, I can imagine their genetic profiles were somewhat more similar to Central American natives than North American. This interest me, seeing that between 1670 to 1717 a plethora of Southeastern Native Americans were sold as slaves throughout the Southeast & the West Indies, creating a population of mix breed people called mestees (black & Native American) on U.S. southern plantations.

Además por la invasión romana los españoles tenemos adn italiano. Muchos catalanes inmigraron a México y Centroamérica.

    • @sergiomartinello
      @sergiomartinello 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Si, pero el ADN sardo, no es el mismo que la península itálica que son de la rama indoeuropea de los latinos. Los Sardos estaban mucho antes de la llegada de los latinos de Roma. El Sardo presente en el este de la península ibérica se debe a la etapa del Reino de Aragón.

      @sergiomartinello 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No niego que los habitantes de Cerdeña tenga un elevado porcentaje de gen italolatino, pero como digo, cuando en España aparece el gen sardo, hace referencia a ese pueblo milenario, anterior a roma y los latinos, y no al concepto de italiano que tenemos en el imaginario colectivo, que es a lo que lleva a confusión a mucha gente con este test, asocian sardo = italiano = roma / pizzas / mamma mía .

    #GhostlightVideos #Chris # Jennifer you both need to go claim your Native American side by go claiming you some land on the Reservation!! If you can prove you are a bloodline of Native American they allow you to live on their land. Both my husband and I are Filipino (Pacific Islander) so when my son told me he was doing this he asked us what we knew if anything about our history. Although I was a Filipino and white (Mistesa) I knew our history was from the Philippines (Gapan Neuva Cija and as well as UK/Great Britain.
    As for my husband we knew he was from Cebu, Phillipines. So for the most part we knew he would be Pacific Islander and also from Spain as we knew some Filipino's have originated from the War with Lapu Lapu and Magellan. We also knew his grandfather's family was African American because they were slaves (Great Great Grandmother) and his Great Grandfather originated from Feasterville, South Carolina. Which is where they were slaves and purchased the land back hence the name Feaster. We also knew the came from New Finland.
    We also knew his Triple Great Grandmother was Creek Indian saw pictures of her with her tribe dressed head to toe in gear. We were a little shocked he showed more of his father's heritage than mine. Camaroon, Congo, Bantu People, Mali, Benin and Togo, Ivory Coast/Ghana, Northwestern Europe, (Finland) Portuguese (Spain) and China. We were shocked to see even 1% China, also showed not to see any Native American. 52% was Filipino. 13% was from Great Brittain/Whales this is from my side of the family. However...we all know genetics is a little wonky especially if your so many different nationalities. So my husband and I have 3 children together. Where my oldest son showed more Filipino in him my other son showed 49% Filipino and the other 40% was African American and then 10% Great Brittain/Whales and the 4% Native American. The rest was little here and there. Where as my daughter showed 12% African American 50% Filipino and just percentages I can't see right now. So you may share the same genetics from both parents you might have more of one parent than the other or some might not show up at all. Weird and tricky huh?

    The % associated with the number of branches of generations before you is 1/2^n, where n=0,1,2,3,.... With n=2, this is two generations before you, i.e. your grandparents. Each represents, 1/2^2 = 1/4 or 25%. For n=3, this represents great^1 grandparents. You have 8 of these . Each contributes 1/2^3 = 1/8 or 12.5%. For n=4, this represents great^2 grandparents (great-great). You have 16 of these . Each contributes 1/2^4 = 1/16 or 6.3%. For n=5, this represents great^3 grandparents (great-great-great). You have 32 of these . Each contributes 1/2^5 = 1/32 or 3.1%. For n=6, this represents great^4 grandparents (great-great-great-great). You have 64 (!) of these . Each contributes 1/2^6 = 1/64 or 1.6%.
    Though most likely each ancestor is him of herself mixed, one way to think about it is if one is pure. So 2.1% Ashkenazi Jewish means that a great-great-great or great-great-great-great grandparent was 100% Ashkenazi Jewish. If only that one, by the time you are reached and no other Jewish blood is added, you end up with 1.6-3.1% Jewish blood.
    how long ago? Each generation is roughly 30 years plus or minus. So 2.1% Jewish means a pure Jewish ancestor entering your DNA ancestry 150-180 years ago.
    Of course, if ancestors are of mixed heritage and intermarried for several generations, you need to make the appropriate mathematical adjustments.

    This is interesting. To me (I'm an Indonesian), both of you look like Southeast Asian (especially the Austronesian people such as Indonesian/Malaysian/The Philippines). I believe if you guys walking around on the street in Jakarta, only a few people would believe that you are not Indonesian, the majority would tell that you are Indonesian.

    Sardinians are a very disntinctive dNA they were mainly isolated from the rest of Europe in the Neolithic era although anything less than 1% is technically “noise” it’s still something my breakdown in the European side was
    35.7% Iberian
    4.0 Southern European
    0.2 Sardinian
    1.2% British and Irish
    0.1% Scandinavian
    Native American I got another 45%
    23 and me was very in-depth!

      What I like about 23andme compared to others is that they seem more honest. If they aren't sure about a specific ethnicity, they just point to a broader area, like Southern European. Other tests give you 2 or more different ethnicities, seems like too much guessing.

Maybe I from people from the south of Spain take it would be more results. Also nothing of Jews. I took myself DNA test (I'm from Spain) I'm 100% European. I was expecting DNA from other places based on what people say but it was not true. My both parents are from the north of Spain. Maybe is these areas there was no mixture with moors.

    for the young man East Asia is linked with his Native American this most likely means that the Native Americans were the Eastern Asians that came across the Russian - Alaskan land bridge. In the US the Navajo also related to this hapla group. He must remember he carries more of his dad's Y than his moms mitochondrial DNA for the young woman, Azk Jews inhabited Iberia. There is also new evidence that Egyptians migrated to Iberia from Northern Africa.

      Endlessly repeating stereotypes.
      The Spaniards did not mix with the Moors.
      There are historical reason that explain this fact.
      But, it is better not to argue wirh ingorants.
      Look at the video.
      Look haplogroup Rb1, marked in red.
      It is the most important in Europe. Write down the % of the Spaniards.
      Also look at haplogroup
      Eb1b1, marked in light brown.
      It is Balkan, Middle East, North African.
      ALL EUROPEAN have it.
      Look a % of Spaniards.
      That is for the Phoenicians. It has nothing to do with the Moors or with your fantasies of ignorant.

    I am a little disturbed about how hispanics who look mixed with white and Native American in these videos are either somewhat upset or very upset about being European while black African ancestry is celebrated. I fully understand why hispanics would want to be mostly Native American as opposed to the other two, but between the other two, white ancestry is much more common than black unless you are an actual black person from Latin America. Why is white ancestry so shocking considering the history and why is black ancestry celebrated more even though it is more of an oddity in hispanics who look like a mixture of white and Native American?
