Nate, since you are practically rock hounding in my backyard, I feel I can ask this...... "Are you crazy?" haha..... It is soo dang hot here. But seriously, stay hydrated, and do watch out for the rattlers..... there sure seem to be a lot of them around this year.

For sure, not exaggerating, I found 7 or 8 this year, all by stumbling onto, but must say, they all could have bit me and didn't, been too long away from the area, had to go see how it looked, better, too hot, but better for sure. Stay in the shade my friend!

I just make sure not to step on them, and they are pretty mellow, plus water is so low they must be hunkered a thousand feet below me with the other critters, it was so dry.... but recovering, baby pines , and others pushing up through it all, the brush already reborn from the roots and head high, the oaks revealing many will recover as they all looked so bad at first and not ,just all around better, need a slow steady rain out there and some good snow 🤞

for sure, I do not want any one to take it lightly either and go and get hurt. I am pretty conditioned to it as the temperatures and terrain I live in are similar and have done outdoor trades this whole time, so every 8 hour day has been a survival quest for sure . I totally appreciate the concern and always want every one to stay safe. a day in the heat hunting treasure beats any day in the heat at work : )

Im sure glad you are ok. That is a dangerous location, as well as what that heat is doing to you while you are out in a dangerous location like that while you are dehydrating yourself and cooking your brain! But that out of the way, Wow! That huge boulder that is covered, or is a huge boulder of quartz crystals! Gorgeous! Those are some amazing finds! That whole lot of your finds are amazing. That amount of crystals with points is amazing! That was an amazing hunt but lets not go back until it cools off a bit. Ok? Triple digits and alone is not safe, and if something happened to you, especially in this heat, by the time help could get to you, you would be fried! And that would be more than anyone could handle! You finds are amazing but not worth your life or just you! Thanks for sharing and letting me be a mom! lol!

thank you for the caring words, I do my best to stay alive I promise, every intention each time of weighing the risks and choosing with awareness. I work with heavy and sharp in heat and steep in the far out and alone, for my daily pay, I have been a grunt my whole life so at least I am made for this. the days I spend in these places , that are risky, I feel like i'm right where I should be , doing what I should be , and feel pretty safe in at least being on the right path wherever it leads, and that is all I can ask for , another day, the view, each such a gift and a blessing. and we will wait for the cool, for sure : ) thank you !

I have gone on up into the feather river canyon and found some amazing things. I also had my first encounter with a timber rattler. Lol.... Graded roads turn up new stuff every year and look for clear chips as the points are usually all picked up if its getting traffic. Run off creeks & rivulets in tailings in mining districts; Sawmill Peak area? Watch for diamonds as De Beers had a few claims up there in the sepentonite. Do some reading. granted research is one of my strong points. Eckert's The Southwestern Quadrant (there were 4) It can be its vuggy rock thats stained rusty colors compared to the greener gneiss whatever. As always talk to club members, join or not.

Bonus fact. My ex found her best piece of Pulga Jade in the ditch from the gravel from the end of the dam south end parking on the WALKING PATH upriver. I mean its got white crust if its not broken but if its broken & most pulga is, its green and clearish with spots black or white

I am handicapped and want to look for crystals. I moved to Oroville back in March. I'm dying from the heat and won't leave my house past 9am until its fall perhaps. Ha ha . Anyhow, could you recommend anywhere for me to drive and walk a safe distance from my car to find crystals?

  • @KittyGonzalez-bc8ee

Nate .. of all the people, You know better! At 112 degrees, it is not advisable to even walk ! People are told to S tay indoors and hydrate since being in just 100 degrees, a healthy individual can deplete all of thekr electrolytes in less than 20 minutes during light exercise....aka walking into a shady area. At that point the body begins to shut down..the pores no longer release Sweat and heat exhaustion abd heat stroke will occur witbin the hour. I would be mad if you just made a choice from stupidity...but youre not stupid yiu are addicted to sharing your knowledge! Thats why i care enough to lecture you ...and perhaps save us from losing yiu altogether....😢

I appreciate the concern but I do landscaping and I do it in the mountains of California where without exaggeration its usually no less than 90° each day on the best days, and often right around 100° and I have to do eight hours of that many days a week and I have for a long time so I'm probably more conditioned than some people. all of the factors which you were talking about are definitely safety parameters that one should advise and maybe I should take time in future videos to pass those on because I do constantly see reports of people going out beyond their ability, and it resulting in really bad consequences. And I'm definitely not just being macho, but I am part of that outside labor workforce for the last 25 years doing heavy construction and landscaping which requires you to be able to function in that heat all day long doing heavy manual tasks .and the area where I live in is very hot and arid so just in the last month I have probably spent 8 days at 100° working eight hours in full sun. the human body is an amazing thing when its trained and conditioned to something it can do incredible things. a day playing with crystals is better than a day digging ditches or hauling brush uphill. again, thank you for concern, and promise im not being macho, thats deadly out in the elements.
