we hit the back of the pocket. pretty rough digging if you pushed in deeper.. but its first come first serve and we certainly didn't hide the location if you know what to look for ;-)
I found numerous crystal deposits in the Inyo Mountains. Citrine, water clear crystals with different mineral inclusions, etc. amethyst, smokies.. I've made fire rings with large crystal clusters during snow storms 😅 I would pack out backpack loads!
@CaliforniaJewels In the 90s, I lived year round for 10 years in Saline Valley, and the crystal locations were often a day long hike through pretty intense hiking! I eventually blew my knees out, packing the 70/80 lb loads out. One location yielded water clear crystals with another crystal inside coated with calcite and pyrite crystals. Nature creates amazing works of art! I also found a huge deposit of fire Opals and giant fossilized clams...
Good going you guys! I've found some well formed and clean crystals in the Foresthill, CA area and faceted them as well. Amazing rough that has cut some flawless stones. Remarkably bright! Go man go!!
Sick finds we just did some agate seam mining yesterday in the Cady Mountains pulled out some pretty great big stuff busted out quite a hole. We've watched all your videos was wondering just last week when you'd post/dig again...would love to come dig with you boys (PS I wouldnt mind paying for shipping on the mine dump bag)
Ah love the Cadys! Have you found the green flourite occurrence ? Such a cool spot. Found some neat pineapple colored Quartz crystal clusters out there too, nice faces/tips.
@CaliforniaJewels haven't been to the basin rd fluorite occurrence only been out towards the afton occurrence which has purple and green chevron material. Collected lots of zeolite, druzys, pink lace agates, blues, our there in the north...we have been doing the South Cadys mainly though off the 40 specifically a location called hill 2 yesterday behind what's called Sleeping Beauty. Got a lot of Mossy Plumey Psuedomorph Agate material out
I wouldn't say "alot" we hunt for our own personal collections and enjoy gifting them to family and friends. The experience of being out there in pristine and quiet wilderness is half the fun.
@@CaliforniaJewels 100%. Here in Denver, apothecary is HUGE and crystals are used and needed like crazy. I bet y’all could sell them easily to chicks looking for crystals found by people like yourself.
join a gem and mineral club in your city or region, its full of people who are passionate about gems and fossils and they can help you find them! they usually do field trips as a group to excellent locations. Its how we got started too!
Do you ask the local tribes if it’s cool or are you gorilla mining? Not an accusation just wondering the protocol as I’ve been interested in planning a cali mining road-trip.
Good question. Not tribal property. BLM areas. definitely check the maps while planning your trip. Pack in pack out, leave the area cleaner than you find it. The crystals were here before us and will certainly be here after us.
Pretty sweet pocket provided some awesome material. I gotta find this spot.. lol

Where is the flat thing? Had a large smooth surface. Very weird. He kept repeating "What the f is that?"
it faintly glows in the dark, and emits a strange noise when we held it. We left it out there because it freaked us out.
@@CaliforniaJewelslolol
Faceting now too? Nice!!
would you be willing to share the general area or mountain you were digging?
How did you even know where to look? Can you give me a starting point of where and how I gotta research this
