    Great to see the CC 01 getting some more aftermarket love. Would be great to see some more suspension travel to compliment the new chassis. Looking forward to a running video and your thoughts afterwards.

      _Some_ aftermarket love? He replaced 80% of the original parts! 3DRAP should finish the job and replace the remaining Tamiya parts, because they're made of weak ABS plastic and they will crack and fall apart when they get old, even if the truck is never driven.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure, with longer dampers, we can get more travel... 👍😊

    • @angelodedios8025
      @angelodedios8025 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Matteomeier Even if you put long dampers in front, suspension travel would still be very limited because you still used the stock lower suspension arms. What you should have done is redesigned a new longer lower arms to allow more travel. I admire the effort and engineering you've done here but it's the suspension is what you have improved from the very beginning. The gearbox of the stock CC-01 is fine. It's the steering and limited front suspension travel are the biggest issue of the CC-01.

    I have a CC01 chassis that the previous previous owner tried to convert to a front mount servo like in this conversion. That ended up cracking the tub of the original chassis. Buying a new tub was almost the same as buying a new CC01, so it has lived on the shelf for many years. Maybe I will get this conversion as all of the running gear is still good and much of it is metal upgrades already! Thank you for putting the beetle body on in the video. Gives more feeling to the finished size!

      But even now I can see an issue. As the front shocks are in the middle of arms, they are working under 2:1 ratio, while rear shocks are working 1:1. In gerenal it means that the front is easy to compress while the rear looks tough. And now the battery is placed in the front as well, which means it will make the situation even worse. We'll see.......

    My Friend, this goes beyond conversion... It's a TRANSFORMATION!! 😁 I will be anxiously awaiting seeing how it performs.
    The only thing I question about it - the CC-01 ALWAYS has been Geared TOO HIGH. I was hoping with all that impressive work on redesigning the Gearbox... They could have fixed some lower Gearing. At least give provisions for a smaller than 16T Pinion Gear.
    Other than that I'm completely impressed!! Have a great Weekend!! 😊

    Thank you for a nice video and very informative and instructive as always!
    I look forward to the comparison test in the terrain, to see what problems with the CC-01 this new chassis solve. The steering is direct on the new chassis of course, taking out the play in the CC-01 linkage system, this is an improvement. But are the articulation, weight distribution and ground clearance better on the new one?
    The position of the battery pack is higher on the new one, giving the new chassis a higher point of gravity. The battery on the CC-01 is placed much lower, giving it the advantage of a lower point of gravity, and will this give the old CC-01 better handling in the terrain compared to the Longheroni?
    The all important driving test will tell, it will be exiting to watch.
    Looking forward to your next video, all the best.

    This looks like a very well made kit, but I'm not sure what the point is. Reusing any of the CC-01's extremely old parts is a disadvantage. 3DRAP should finish their design by replacing all of the remaining CC-01 parts.

    How important is weight in an RC model? Is a lighter frame advantageous?

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In a scale truck weight is better, to give a more realistic movement and more traction on the ground. Best is to have more weight in front and located lower to keep the center of gravity down.

    • @ilmaboteo
      @ilmaboteo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Matteo's RC Movies ! So with this new “longheroni” type frame you have to add weight, or its elements work perfectly and the model has the right balance and traction?

    The frame rails are super ugly and not scale looking at all, would stick with the tub personally

    Why buy one of a few tub chassis, just to change it. You should block up battery tray, to make it a true and sealed tub? 3D parts..lol, aluminum..lol

    Hallo Matteo, ich habe den Hinweis von Fabian bekommen mich bei Dir zu melden. Ich möchte gerne mal bei den AARESCALER vorbeischauen. Wohne in der Nähe von Aarau und bin fasziniert von euren Videos und Modellen. Ich mache seit gut 35 Jahren Modellbau. Seit bald einem Jahr bin ich auch ein SCALER.... 🤗! Was müsste ich tun?.... No, it's not that bad. Of course not for everyone, but for those who already have a few CC-01s is a good alternative. And the quality of the parts is good.

    If anyone is thinking of getting this... DON'T.
    The steering is really, really bad. I had mine for 3 years, never crawled with it because I couldn't get the steering going... I gave up and tore it down and put the parts back in the same tub they came out of...

    • @rcdabbler
      @rcdabbler 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It brings the CC-01 more in-line with modern frame-rail chassis platforms. Any significant aftermarket offering for the CC-01 is going to be welcomed by a CC-01 enthusiast, and that platform does have it's own tribe.

    In my opinion the CC-01 is rubbish. Considering the amount of upgrades it requires to get it to perform decently you may as well buy a much nice kit to begin with such as Axial SCX10 III.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Matteomeier best thing in tamiya is price. Best quality for the money. But tuning it is lost of money. :) Better idea is buy HPI for recreational driving or xpress if you look for hi end tuning and you are experienced driver :)
