Tamiya CC02 Bronco Chassis Build

- Today we are getting the chassis for the 2022 Bronco built. This is my first time building the CC-02 chassis and there are some quirks and oddities to be aware of I found along the way. Also a few disappointing items discovered that I am not a fan of that will get resolved later on.
You guys are all awesome and I appreciate all the great comments and questions from everyone. Really enjoying talking to you all in the comments section.
Another great video. As far as your pet peeves with the kit, it is totally justified. I think that being transparent helps us as viewers to make weigh the pros and cons and decide what works best for us. You are awesome and can't get enough of your videos. 💯💯💯💯💯
Well thank you for the kind words. I really don't like complaining about the kits and sounding negative but I also don't want to make it sound like they are all some sort of perfect kit either, none of them are. It is a fine line I feel like I have to walk to inform you all what I feel are shortcomings and things to look out for but not sound like all doo and gloom about them either! I am glad it seems to be coming across well and not just me ranting about my toy not being perfect!! LOL
When I shorten the motor shaft I use my disc sander, and I put the pinion gear on to act as a heat sing! It does a perfect job. great build Addam, as usual!!!!!!!!!
That is a very good idea, I had not though of that. Thankfully not a common thing that needs to be done but I will try that next time! Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed the build and ramble!

It is a really nice truck and I have had fun with it! The body work will take you some time but it is well worth it once it is all done and looking great!

The Kit was not hard to build but has its short comings. Those tires are laughable and garbage shock internals were a let down. The body set is absolutely fantastic and that is what you are buying with this kit to be honest.
Because of you, I had to order a kit for myself. Now, I have another kit to sneak into the house.
Sorry??? LoL 😂😂 It happens to us all! I just ordered a new kit after being heavily influenced by another channel. We are all good/bad influences to each other 😂 It is a neat kit and looks fantastic! I am waiting to get my good camera back before unveiling it. It deserves the best footage. Still don't know what I am going to do with the tires though... If shipping wasn't so high I'd mail them to Tamiya and tell them I appreciate a good joke but where are the real tires at!?!?
Nice video. I painted the roof and fender flares with Rustoleum ‘Textured’ black paint over Tamiya PS-5 black. It’s a VERY convincing fine ‘plastic’ texture just like the real 1:1.
I am sure that did turn out looking cool! I have seen a few different ways of doing it and some look good and some look a little too rough and textured. I have seen that paint in the store so i know what your talking about and the texture is not over the top! I had a good time building this but this kit is mostly about the body! I think that took at least twice as long as putting the truck together! LOL! It is all worth it in the end!
I appreciate your honesty. Thank you. That's what people like myself want to hear. I have never heard express as much frustration with a Tamiya kit before. There is no good reason why Tamiya does not include bearings. My conclusion has always been the same. Tamiya makes plenty of money and they have a lot of loyal fans. Keep up the good work.
Yeah I get they offer them to be able to build the kits with no additional parts needed and to not raise the cost but they treat adding bearings like it is the most generous thing ever. I just ordered enough bearings to build at least 4 more kits and the bearings I needed for this one that I had to use the bushings for and it cost me less than $50. So for about $12-14 a kit I can build a car with peace of mind. They can buy bearings at pennies on the dollar that I pay and could include them in their kits for probably less than $2-3. But now I am going to have 8of these big ol beatings left over as a probable lifetime supply because they decided instead of tossing in 4 out of the normal sized bearing in the kit for maybe a buck in their part. But like you said me and everyone else pays great.manoey to put all those dumb bushings in a baggy and hold onto them forever as "I might be able to use those for something.!!! I have hundreds of them out there, it is kind of sad honestly!!
@@AddamsPlayground Even the cheapest r/c cars on Amazon all have bearings. To be fair the basic Bandit and Rustler have metal wheel bushings. But, for someone who just goes out and has fun metal bushings last a long time. I think people who love, like you and I, continue buy their kits. It is sad as you said. If we complain to Tamiya may be they would change. It's similar to the basic radio that Traxxas includes in its basic kits. It's terrible. I think these cheaper r/c cars will make a dent in sales for Tamiya. I think that is especially true for products produced by WLtoys and others. You may want to give one of their cars a try.
Authenticity is best. Great video and very helpful information. One caveat, rants will still require random outtakes at the end of the video. 🤣 Keep it up 🔧
LoL!! Noted! Most of the cut scenes were me cussing myself for saying words all out of order. The brain and the mouth operate on two different channels some days!! If I had funny ones I would have included them! Most sounded like I was arguing with a person off camera...

I was thinking of you and your adventures in driveshafts when I went to assemble them! Once you figure it out it isn't bad, it is the figuring it out hard that sucks! I did double check the motor I am putting in is slower than the stock one and should have more torque and run a lot smoother. I still thin I will have to take the trans out and put in the low range gears but we will see. Thanks for checking it otu. I will be catching up on videos tomorrow I hope!!
Great job Addam. Somehow they tried to build a bridge from the CC-01 to the CR-01 with this chassis. I had some memories as I seen your build.
It looks like they used the shocks of the Comical 2WD series. For this the mini CVA-sets fit. You can also compare it woth your Farm King. Good Tamiya does 1 by 1 drawings so you can check the manuals first.
They are fairly long shocks but I will dig out the manual and compare. That part seemed so silly to me as all the parts are there to make them good shocks but they decided to give me a static plunger style for a higher end truck. They should also be assumed for ever making those tries as well. Those things are just plastic donuts that have tread on them, I am not even sure if there is any rubber content to them! Thanks for the tip on the shocks, I am sure I will find some shafts that work and get them swapped out.
@@AddamsPlayground Then try the long CVA set (Lunchbox). Think it won't help by the length of the piston rod, but theses set allow four? different shock lengthes, too.😉. Plastic donuts🤣🤣🤣🤣

The "Thumbtack" Shocks are a disappointment. OK, we ALL hate C-Clips.... but this deserves better, more tunable Shocks!! 😲

Yeah the tires would good to use as course markers or something like that but otherwise those things are useless! The shock internal were very disappointing to me when I dumped the parts bag out. They chassis doe confuse me some but not a deal breaker. I knew going in this was only going to be a trail truck so rock crawler type rigidness was not expected. I still seems silly to me to have the aluminum extensions on there, they could have made the whole thing plastic and had a similar outcome. I did get work done on the body yesterday afternoon and it looks fantastic so far so I am super happy with the body set. the truck itself has some shortcomings but I can fix those, well most of them!

Oh yeah.... the VINYL Tires, straight from the CC-01!! 🙄😵💫 Forgot about those. I got 96mm SOFT Tires for mine.
FORTUNATELY Tamiya did recognize that stiff Springs that they used on the CC-01, that BARELY MOVED, worked only slightly better than a Grasshopper!! 😡🤬🤬🤬
One of several reasons why do many hated the CC-01.
The CC-02 got MUCH softer Springs, thank GOD! 😊
But they had to screw up something. 🙄 So, they have a Chassis Mounted Servo, with a FOUR LINK Suspension! This of course, gives TONS of Bump Steer!!! 😭
Yes, that can be overlooked.... but it doesn't need to be. Axle Mounted Servo brackets are available. Looks less Scale, but eliminates bump steer!
No matter what, it's a Trail Truck, and a pretty nice one! It's an ACTUAL 1/10th Scale (Axial, Traxxas and Redcat are all between 1/9th and 1/8th Scale!).
One thing they don't mention... "low range" setup in the Gearbox is SO low, that with even a WP1060 ESC, it WILL crawl!!
None of these glitches are deal breakers for me either. But I still question their motives!! Often!
If you weren't aware, Tamiya INVENTED the Scale Crawler, with the CR-01, A full 6 YEARS before Axial came out with its first AX-10!! 😲 Most people Forgot that.
You don't go to Tamiya for crawling performance, but everything they create looks so dang good. And I still think that they are the king of the hardshell body. Like the Hauler series, it's a model that you can drive around. Quirky little kits that stay true to their game, most still offering bushings. To me it's the experience.

You are right and I am not expecting crawling out of it, just a fun trail truck and for that I think it will be fine. I have come to an understanding they will never go to bearing kits in their kits but in this case I was fully prepared to swap out all the "normal" sized ones as I have them all on hand in bulk! It was just the 4 in the steering knuckles thy could have offered as they are the uncommon ones and it would have added about $1.25 to their cost of the kit. Now I have to buy a tube of 10 of them them in order to replace the two I need for at least $10... poor decision. The tires in this kit, I really wish you could feel them, the are awful and I am sure you have hot wheels cars with softer tires in you collection! those are just junk and they should be embarrassed to make them to be completely honest. The shock shaft thing is easy to fix but again, they have the parts to do it right and it may have cost them a few cents to put in normal style shock shafts instead of these plunger style one. It is just simple things that can make you very pleased with a kit build or let down by a kit build and it get prices are going up but this was all designed long before price increases and supply chain issues so thy have no excuse expect for for decisions and lack of understanding the market and consumers. It is an impressive body set and the main reason I bought it and it should look fantastic and be a good little trail truck with some upgrades.
@@AddamsPlayground I 100% agree on the tires too. I have the latest UNIMOG kit and the tires are hard as a rock. They will have to be replaced. And if Tamiya listens to any criticism they should listen to you. Your collection is like none other.!!
Looks like a decent kit, but for the price they should give you “crawler shocks”.. agreed on the tires and wheels too.. can’t wait to see what you do to the body
The tries are laughable to be honest. I do not remember getting tires this hard on a RC car at ever! The junk shock internal really let me down too. They have all the parts on the trees to make good, tunable shocks but chose to stick that metal plunger style in there. You are paying for the body set to be honest and it comes with a truck of the correct wheelbase for the body. It isn't awful, it should be a nice little trail truck but for a $300 kit it had some surprisingly bad choices in it!

They body set looks fantastic and I got it mostly painted yesterday and it looks great! I have to do some external painting today and get all the bits and pieces on it and the lights wired up. It should look terrific once all put together!

Great build addam. I am listening to the things that bug you about the Tamiya way of doing things. I think every company has those little issues that make you think.....WHY??? lol Great looking chassis. Look forward to seeing the rest.. ;)
Yeah, things like the plastic bushings I have just grown to accept but I still don't understand. If a tiny startup company can produce a brushless RTR kit with full ball bearings, aluminum parts from front to back, CVD driveshafts all the way around, telemetry in the radio system and it goes 50+ mph out of the box for less money yet this major corporation that has been cranking out kits at full pace for decades cannot include $4.50 worth of bearings for me just confuses me to no end. This build left me a little bitter as these are the worst tires I have ever seen in a RC car that was not at the dollar store. There honestly feel like plastic/vinyl and not rubber at all. The body set it looking really great and it is going to be a great looking truck and with some time and parts a decent trail truck. It is just disappointing and confusing to have to trash can a new set of tires and build shocks with that junk internal in them. It should be awesome in the end.

Thanks! Yeah that super simple tool makes it a whole lot simpler to get them together. You may struggle for a moment but it is a push and pry up/wiggle motion and it should pop right back into place.

Good call on the shocks! I did not notice the metal pistons. You are right, that is disappointing. I am going to try to hunt down some replacements. The Tamiya hop-up shocks for the CC-02 are REALLY hard to find so I may have to bodge something. Looking forward to seeing how you finish the body and what colours you pick. 👍👍👍
I am working on the body this morning while watching videos. Just got all the decals cut out while watching the F150 build by RC Icons! The body looks great as is but should look even better with the decals and plastic bits added! I have not searched too much for the shock shafts but If I find something that will work I will let you know. I am sure I can find just the shafts somewhere!

I just unwrapped the body and it looks great. I had to step away from it to work on some other stuff.. like editing and uploading tomorrow's video!! I almost forgot about that! I think it'll be a nice truck once I'm done with it!

Grayson’s Traxxas Bigfoot came with that tool. I didn’t know what it was. Now I know
Yeah, it makes putting those axles together a ton easier. It does take some practice to get good at it, you kind of have to push and pry up a little and it just pops right in. a 0.02 tool they could have included.
@@AddamsPlayground I used a precision screwdriver and got the u joint together for Bigfoot when he broke it, but now I’ll use the right tool for the right job and maybe not stab my self in the hand next time lol 😂
Hi there Addam, a great review of the building of the CC-02 chassis. I get where your coming from with the shock pistons , I thought they were very cheap for Tamiya, especially at the price range, and surely as they had the piston ends in the kit, just need the shock shafts. I was tempted to drill a 1mm hole in the stock one piece piston ends. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😊😉😁
Yeah I will be upgrading to either new shafts in the them or just new shocks all together. Mostly was I am unhappy with them and I won't be happy until they are better quality in the there. I have been fighting with the body shell all morning trying to get it done as I am watching videos trying to get caught up! Enjoy the rest of of your Sunday!
I really like bronco so it's a nice looking kit maybe some day I would like to build it there is not a lot of bronco kits out there great video today addam I really enjoy your video thank buddy
I got some work done on the body and it looks fantastic so far! I may have to find or build an interior for it as it looks so good now an interior will make it that much better but that will be a winter project! Thanks for checking in !
I really think that a interior makes all rc look nice and better than seeing all of the wring and things like that you have done a lot of nice looking trucks so I know that it will be one nice looking bronco when you're done

Fixed piston heads is the worst :(
LOL! It happens from time to time. It makes no sense to make a oil filled shock with a flat top piston. Just include regular oil shocks and allow us to chose the rebound and dampening we want. It seems it would be more expensive to make the silly flat top shaft than a normal setup anyways! Tamiya marches to the beat of their own drum for sure!
no sweat. it will look great out there on the trail! especially if you get some beadlocks or something better for tires.
Oh yeah the kit tires are not even an option to run. I refuse to use those plastic things! I do have a set of bead lock and some slightly larger than stock crawler tires that I think will work. I may have to grab a smaller set but I am gonna try the ones I have first and se how it goes! Got the body done today so the only thing left to do is the light kit and it'll be ready to roll!
Performance wise you're right, Tamiya never is the best. I have a CR01 with about $1k sunk into it and it still barely keeps up with my stock Axials and even GMade kits. The same goes for the CC01s and CC02s I had and don't even get me started on the trash heap that's the High Lift trucks.. however, the build of Tamiya kits are the most enjoyable in the hobby and I think that's the experience you're really paying for. CC02 is still a really fun and awesome truck and I love mine. Enjoy!
There is a good bit of truth there. I got it to have a cool new kit to build and a chassis set I have never built so it was an adventure and I think it will be a decent trail truck. I think the tires are the worst I have seem on a RC car ever though. I have had $20 kits from Walmart that had better feeling tires on them! I was also very disappointed in the shock internals but all that can be easily fixed so I will move on and toss some parts at it. I am thinking I am going to still have to swap the trans gearing over to low range.

I loved all your ranting for a very special reason: I'm building a CC-02, but mine I didn't buy the kit, I am buying parts here and there, so I can avoid the kit shocks for example, and sort of build it how I feel it should be, not as dictated by Tamiya. Sadly I got some delays on that build, but I'll get there someday.
So this video was really nice to watch for me. I think you're building a cool little fun-truck, was that what you called it?

Yeah the two things to avoid are the tries and the shocks. I think the shocks would have been fine if the had the correct shafts in there to use the 1,2 or 3 hole pistons included on the parts tree. The tries are absolute garbage and they should be ashamed they include those in the kit. The honestly feel like tires from a cheap plastic kids toy! I am pretty sure they are vinyl and not rubber at all! Depending on the driving you plan on doing a slower than stock motor would be required. I view this as a trail truck, something you would walk around behind on a park trail or something like that and drive around. It is never going to be a great rock crawler, some rocky terrain but not anything like a modern rock crawler and it is not going to perform like a regular Tamiya kit with high speed agility either. It is good trail truck and I would suggest to build it in the lo range as I am very sure I will be pulling the transmission out of mine an rebuilding it in low range. For learning for all of us I built it in high and feel if it not going to be what i want.
LOL! I think the painting fenders and use of stickers together is to make sure its black where its suppose to be, stickers make up for bad painting and vice versa lol. Just started but wanted to leave that comments because ive spent time thinking about that question lol
Yeah I get it. The only problem with the stickers on the fenders is they are going to get ruined so fast on any type of rough off-roading. I know it is not a rock crawler but from my experience with them fenders catch a lot of punishment. It is an option for those not great with masking and may need to hide some blemishes. I did the hard way but it came out really nice looking! It took a lot longer than I expected to do the body but I am very pleased with the way it turned out. You'll see it soon!

I needed to figure out a way to save the motor from getting all that stuff into it and just happened to have a bag on the bench that worked perfectly. Not a speck of grinding gunk on it once done!

They do give you some crazy long body posts with this one! The transmission is extremely quiet, possibly the quietest one I have. The Element rock crawler I have is pretty quiet as well but I think this one may beat it.

That's a nice kit, mine is the smoothest sounding out of all my crawlers , 13T you got a race car! I used a 55T with low gear range and it runs perfect. I did a few mods to mine and it runs much better than the stock set up... I think you may be able to just flip the bottom links upsides down to make them flat without the bulge hanging down. can't wait to see it done!
The 5 slot 13 is a lot slower than a normal 13 turn. It is the only crawler motor I had and we will see how it goes. I don't like the feel of the 1060 in it so I am pretty sure the 1080 will be going into it after the first run. I am pretty sure the trans is going to get rebuilt with the low range as well. We will see how it drives as is and make changes
The transmission is the quietest one I think I own so I will give them that!
@@AddamsPlayground Hi I have the 1060 in mine with a 55T and low range it works really good. that motor is way to fast for a crawler...maybe a rock racer.
@@ShenRC Yeah 55t is way slower. The HH motor is slower than the stock silver can and has a higher torque density and smoother running than the stock silver can as well. If I were going to try and crawl with it then I would have gone with the 15 turn 550 motor from Holmes which way slower and way more torque. This is gonna be more a of a drive it all over general trail truck, Probably will be too fast in high range.
@@AddamsPlayground then you best leave the stock hard tires on if you want it fast with soft crawler tires it will be rolling over like crazy.

I think swapping out the 1060 for a 1080 will really make it a much better driving truck and I will build it first with the 1060 and drive it and then swap out for the 1080 and see what the difference is but I feel like it is going to be night and day. 1060s are great for cars and truck you are going to drive fast but have very little low throttle control and the 1080 is much better in that regard. The body set it coming along well so far and it should be a terrific looking truck when all done!
@@AddamsPlayground definitely! but for me, what truly made the difference was swapping out from the tble04/02 to the 1060 in cc01/02. the tble04/02 was very punch..it is a like a rocket launcher...extremely punch. there is no modular control whatsoever. i use the 1060 for the tamiya cc01/02 /cr01 and the 1080 for trx4 trax, gmade and axial.
Interesting. Tbh you can get an element kit for about the same but then you haven’t got the wheels and stuff . 👍👍👍
Very true but you have to drop another $150 easily on top of that for wheels, tires, motor, ESC and body to get a running truck. That said I have already swapped the motor in mine, will be swapping the ESC out to the 1080 as the 1060 sucks for low end control and then the wheels and tires are getting swapped out so the only thing I am keeping from the kit is the body set which is one of the main reasons for getting it. I think over all it will be an amazing looking and decent little trail truck. It'll never rival a true crawler kit but I knew that going in. I think the box setup is fine for a collector that buys it for the looks alone and the one person that is getting it to have a cool looking truck to romp around with. I will be modding it over time to make it more capable and a better off roader so I expected to swap and upgrade stuff. It was disappointing to have to basically through the tires away as there are complete garbage. the shocks are fixable with new shafts but still disappointing. I think it;;l look great and eventually run the way I want it to.

Thanks, it is an interesting build for sure. Some curve balls and some disappointment but overall not bad truck.
Most manufacturers don't include bearings to keep kit costs down, (so they say) but the majority of builders purchase the bearings anyhow. I would think the extra cost involved if Tamiya included bearings in all their kits would be minimal. Disappointing about the shocks too.
Yeah and I am very used to the bushing life with these kit but Tamiya treat bearings like they are gold. I ordered enough bearings last night to build at least 4 more kits and the oddball bearings for this one and it was less than $50 and that is regular retail prices. They would be buying these bearings by the pallet load for a lot cheaper price. I just get annoyed at times of the silliness of their designs and thinking with parts and "features" like the included light kit. The promote it like I am getting this awesome value and I am tossing that one into a storage bin and using one I got from Amazon for like $13 that has more lights and more features than the super basic one it comes with. I am happy with the looks and I am sire once I make the changes I want to make it a decent trail truck I'll be happy with it. Honestly the absolute garbage tires is what started it. They are laughable and something I would expect on a child's toy. I still had a good time building it and I am sure I will enjoy driving it after some changes. It was a little more negative than normal but I feel the things I pointed out were simple issues that could have been resolved for very little money or effort.

That "stupid thing" is pretty ok as a budget trail/crawling motor. I use it on my Bronco and few other trail truck/ crawlers. Mabuchi 540 is one tough nut to crack!
Oh they last forever and for most cars where you want speed they are suitable. For a truck like this and for $300 I would think they would give you their crawler style motor for it. I guess I am expecting too much considering the still ship all of them with the plastic bushing in all but the most expensive kits. I love Tamiya but their decision making to include plastic tires, extremely basic shock internals and and a terribly generic light controller in this kit left me annoyed. It is going to look great but I am having to change the wheels and tires, the shock internal and electronics to make it a good truck is less than ideal.
Great video. Im new with crawlers and im thinking to buy this. Why these shocks are bad? Can i purchase another tyres?
I would say if you are in the market for a crawler then spend the money on something better designed for it and with much better parts support. Tamiya is famous now for being out of parts all the time and some parts are next to impossible to find. I would suggest a TRX4 Sport SCX10 or even the new Element Enduro SE that just came out. Those are going to be much more suited for tough climbing and will hold up much better than the CC02 kit will.
That said the shocks performed better than I expected and are only bad as they limit the tuning abilities a lot being that flat top design. Normally you can change out the piston top of the shock shaft for a 1,2 o3 hole piston to regulate the rate of how faster it can travel along with the shock oil you can really dial in the compression and release rate of the shocks. The tires can easily be changed and the stock wheels are the common 1.9 size. I would stay in the 4.19 overall tire height range as anything bigger will cause rubbing issues with the body.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! The foam blocks are yoga blocks you can buy online or in most stores that have exercise gear. I get mine from Amazon usually and you can find them on sale for $12-15 for a pair of them. I cut mine in half on my band saw but there are able to be cut with a razor knife or a very fine tooth hand saw. I cut them on a slight angle for the buggies to lean them forward as well. Most of the blocks are 9x6x4 but some are 9x6x3. It is the same EVA foam they make the RC car stand out of, just way cheaper!
@@AddamsPlayground I got a pair from amazon. They work nice. I wish I had a band saw then I could cut them in to 4 sections so they don't lift my tamiya road cars so high off the ground.
I searched as I was typing. Table mount band saws are cheap. I might have to grab one down the road.
Any other uses for the hobby on the band saw besides cutting yoga blocks?
@@MR.TOYBOX Not a whole lot of additional uses for the bandsaw in RC but it does come in handy from time to time. Just make sure if you get one to make sure it will allow you to cut the full thickness of the block. I know a lot of the bench top models only can cut up to 3 or 3 1/2 inches of height! You should be able to cut it with a hacksaw with a metal blade on it. You just don't want a a large toothed saw as it will tear the foam. If it is a little rough the cut side goes down so only you'll know!

I used a Holmes Hobbies 550 motor my CC02 Mercedes truck. I did not need to cut anything. I also got aluminum axle housings both the front and the rear. I also got an aluminum center gear box as well. I wanted a metal chassis but could not find it. Tamiya makes aluminum suspension mounts. I did get aluminum dampers. I also replaced the tires with softer Tamiya tires. Thoughts?
Hi Alfred, thanks for the info on the 550, I assumed it would fit but wasn't sure. I have seen hop-ups advertised for it but I have not dug too far down that rabbit hole yet. I'm sure the axles help put some weight down low which is an added plus. I do have the aluminum dampers saved in my eBay watch list but have not pulled the trigger on them yet. I need to get it back up on the bench and swap out the ESC, servo and get the trans into low range so I can take it back out and run it again and see what else it may need. The new clod buster arrived and got me distracted from doing all that! The kit tires are absolute garbage and anything would be a better than those so you made a good call there!

That ones in the background are the Tamiya lunch box kits. They are based on a late 70s dodge van body I believe. The only mods I know for them are from Ampro Engineering and he designed a whole pile of parts for them but it was all to do a stock looking Dodge van from that time period. I am not sure if anyone has done a Ford van body to my knowledge. It would be possible to custom build one but that is outside of my expertise! That is something in the lines of a Wes-Made custom creation.

100% agree!! It took 3 or 4 hours to build up the chassis, it took me that many days to get all the stuff done for the body. It is worth it though, it looks really cool all done!
I just recently finished building a CC-02 chassis (Mercedes-Benz) and I agree that it is a bit fiddly. Before building it, I watched Mateo’s RC series on a CC-02 ( th-cam.com/video/zK4-6E65y9o/w-d-xo.html ) and things went fairly smoothly (well, except for the time I installed all the control arms on the front axel incorrectly and had to take them apart and put them back on right). I have not finished the Mercedes body yet as it has 10,000 tiny stickers to put on (okay, slight exaggeration). Every so often, I get ambitious and put a few more stickers on, so one day I will finish it, fortunately I don’t have to produce a TH-cam video. I look forward to your Bronco video.
Just for sh*ts and giggles, I put on Tamiya’s TBLE-04s and TBLM-02s combo on my CC-02, If I ever get it finished, I’ll let you know how it runs.
I just have to get the lights all sorted and it will be finished up. The body set took way longer than I expected it to but it does look good. I. Probably going to try and do an interior in it eventually. Maybe a winter project!!

Yeah, I am not going to sugar coat it! For what it is, it is going to be an amazing little trail truck but there are some really odd things I needed to point out. The tires and the shocks were the tow biggest disappointments. The odd way it goes together is just Tamiya doing their thing so that part is just interesting design choices. The tries literally feel like they off a child plastic dump truck toy or something, rock hard and pretty useless. The crap shock internals really made me upset when they tumbled out of the parts bag and it makes more sense to me as the pistons are on the parts tree and I know they have to have shock shafts to go with them so why?? The body set seem like it is going to turn out amazing so there is some redemption for it there. It should still be a fun little trail truck and will look amazing and I will be swapping the wheels and tries out and eventually the shock internals.

Es ist ein 13t Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Sport 540 Motor. Es funktioniert gut, aber es ist immer noch ein bisschen zu schnell und ich werde es wahrscheinlich gegen einen der 550 Crawlmaster Sport-Motoren austauschen, die er hat, da die langsamer sind und viel mehr Drehmoment haben. Aw grease from Tamiya is like the Traxxas stuff.
The AW grease is a bit thicker. The Traxxas grease is thicker but doesn't put as much drag on things like the AW stuff does it is just very sticky and tacky. But it is similar.

Yeah, I just dislike putting out negative feeling videos. I want to be promoting the fun of the hobby but this one had some serious disappointing items with it. The tries and the shock internals were very disappointing and they failed there in a big way in my eyes. The odd way it goes together if on par with the way Tamiya designs things so that was not surprising but led to some difficulties that could have been avoided. The body is coming along and looks fantastic so I am hopeful it drives good and it should look amazing!

For what it is I think it is pretty good overall. It is not a rock crawler, it is just a fun having, off road truck. I was able to tackle some pretty rough rock piles once I upgraded the driveshafts, the stock ones were made to be the weak point. The good thing about the hobby there is something out there for everyone. This one is obviously not for you.
