    Excellent video and I truly enjoyed your scale CC-01 pajero and all the goodies you invested in this awesome machine. You know, its been about four years since I left the hobby in which I was apart of for over twelve years. (Now I collect video games). I myself owned about 4 CC-01 models. One with the unimog body, jeep wrangler, land rover and of course, the pajero which was always my personal favorite. I never got to purchase the wheels and tires you have on yours on any of my models but I always knew it would improve the suspension after looking at yours. Thank you for posting this awesome video on one of the greatest R/C vehicles in history and for including the part numbers of each upgrade. You inspired me to make a comeback and the CC-01 pajero will be the first on my list. You earned one more subscriber. 👍👍👍

    I have to admit you improved the hell out of the rear end on this truck now you know you have to do the front to make it complete nice job brother 🤙🏼🍻😉

    • @RoosterRC
      @RoosterRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Hmm, the front will be much harder to do than the rear. As far as I know there is no solution from Tamiya for the front. What I want to do is to improve the aproach angle in the front so I do not get the hang on every rock with the front of the chassis.

    The slowmotion hill climb was epic. well done!! Thinking about buying a cc-01 pajero rig and making it into a rusty old car look a like. Want to do it but smarter to not do it probably. Have a cr-01 too. Great crawler but the looks are too extreme for a scaler. I have a landrover d90 hard body on a metal chassis from rc4wd. That is a true scaler to be. Project is running for years allready but work on it very occasionally. Even have a scale driver in there that will turn the steering wheel when the wheels are turning left or right. beside that I have a 1 to 8 hsp crawler and a 1:35 orlandoo hunter and many more rc stuff, boats, planes, pisten bully's, a micro tank and a forklift. All with all just a lot of stuff. Just love the rc hobby. Done with fast racing cars. 4X4 and crawling and scalers and micro etc. is more fun now. Many projects are half done. And there is the problem. Best to finish all of them first haha. Oh and just little time because we have a lovely 4 year old.

      Thanks for watching and for the feedback! Hey, looks you are really deep into the hobby right now :D I like it! It is funny, I allready converted the Pajero body to an very old rusty look! Did not made a video so far. I wish you many more pleasent hours with your wonderful hobby and familiy! Cheers!

    Thx for the tips. Last summer I bought a Tamiya CC01 based Defender. Out of the box it actually drives quite ok in the dirt. In particular when you consider the $200 kit price which is way lower than, e.g., Traxxas. But I have to say, this is my first ever crawler. My ambition level is probably still low comparing to the seasoned hard-core drivers. Recently I installed a 3:1 reduction gearbox which made driving much smoother. I wasn't aware of the suspension stroke extenders that you can buy for the CC01. So this weekend I made a set myself from 2 mm stainless steel that I had laying around. Pretty easy and straight forward and indeed yet another driving improvement. But everything else is still original. I deliberately kept the original tires even though they are made of not-so-soft plastic, hence not so suitable for crawling. But they just look very original and I have been beautifying my Defender by looking at real-size examples. So I try to find the balance between the ultimate crawler and a largely original replica. All together I spend an additional $120 for a battery, gearbox and other accessoires (original spare wheel, winch, sand ladders, shovel, jerry can, etc.) to make the car look nice. Most of it ordered via Internet in China. A metal roof rack I made myself. Receiver, servo, transmitter I already had from helicopter flying. As said, with some minor changes this CC01 kit is very good value for money. Drives well and looks good.

      Nice to read so much information from you Eric! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience with the CC-01. After all improvements and upgrades the CC-01 is a nice and capable Trail Rig, but cannot compete with the latest true crawlers/scalers like an SCX 10 II and TRX 4. But I have to admit that tamiya makes the nicest looking bodies. Interesting that you are satisfied with the stock tires tough. Do you drive alot over rocky terrain? Cheers!

    • @ericvandenberg5502
      @ericvandenberg5502 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RoosterRC I only keep the original tires because they look exactly like the tires on a real Defender. For crawling on rocks not perfect but I can live with that. Having an original-looking car is part of the fun. I also installed a real-working winch in case the car gets stuck :-) . BTW, I put 2 x 500 grams diver lead-weights in the front and back of the chassis. The extra weight makes the rather stiff suspension smoother and slightly improves traction. With the 3:1 reduction gearbox that I installed the motor has enough torque to easily move around the extra weight. The car just doesn't drive as fast anymore as originally but for a crawler this is OK.

    • @RoosterRC
      @RoosterRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericvandenberg5502 Your adjustments with the weight are great. I guess the motion of the suspension also looks more realistic with more weight. Nice!

    Nice video style and commentary. I will say that you must consider scale when evaluating performance, the obstacles here would ruin a real Pajero rendering it scrap. I'll also say that finding proper scale terrain isn't easy :)

    • @RoosterRC
      @RoosterRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment! You are definetly right. I am used to take on this or more difficult terrain with my Axial SCX10 or the Ascender or even the Twin Hammers. Keeping the terrain more in "scale" is a good point. Nevertheless I try to make the car handle it all better. I am curious how far I can go :) And welcome to my channel ;)

    Looked pretty scale for everything except that one crevas where it was tweaked quite a bit. Most mildly modified real 4x4 wouldn't flex that much. Still the rest of the video looks good. Glad I got similar tires and wheels coming for my cc01 already.

    The tyres make a huge difference but personally, I don't like the stroke extension links as I feel they spoil the scale look, too much articulation. I have the Bronco CC-01 with the Yeah Racing suspension mods, TRF shocks, soft barrel springs, better soft scale tyres, 55T motor and a crawler ESP and it looks and runs great. When I do attack some pretty tricky terrain, I enjoy the challenge of trying to drive around the limitations of the chassis. The scale look, motion and articulation are what makes these cars appealing in my view, it doesn't need to be a crawler.

    • @RoosterRC
      @RoosterRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good morning! Your mods make absolut sense to me. The CC-01 can't compete with modern dedicated crawler chassis like TRX-4 or the Axials. Keep it simple and scale and enjoy the look. You got it! 👍😃
