You need a lot of fire rate for this build, and rememeber if you stop firing for 2 sec mental focus stacks will reset. But even without mental focus magazine size and reload speed are good on this weapon cause there is no crit mods to add.
If you use two weapons with the same ammo type you can put increased total ammo on one of them and both get it. You just have to swap to the one with the mod when you pick up the weapon. So I run Tamer for dps and a random one for more total ammo. Fully leveled you can get close to 1000 rounds.

Good modules to equip after you have a few mod sockets in your tamer is mods like superheated barrel or fire priority. You can tack these on whatever elemental mods you already have on for huge dps increases
I mean, i feel like I've had runs where there are no bullets for my type of weapon and running around trying to find bullets, is a dps loss, for those who wants to min-max, you can skip at most half of the reload animation, handguns can mostly bypass reload, just cancel the animation with melee, roll or ability
Save capacitors and leave mods 2 off max and put in two slots saves 16 more capacity and farm until you have an extra capacitor. Always save on for something you really want.

Increasing mod capacity is hard to farm and f2p players (such as myself) should take note of this and choose VERY carefully where to use these. Guns and descendants both use this so KNOW what youre going to be using before just using this. TH-camrs often push these things without the idea that a lot of us are broke bitches irl
This. If anyone sees this, the game gives 2 double capacity boosters during progression. It's fine to use the 1st on a weapon you'd totally invest to like the Tamer or the Thunder Cage then use the next one on your favourite Descendant. The reason you go for weapons first is because all you need with your Descendant is a fully maxed out Sub-Charge mod for additional capacity and HP + DEF up. It'd suffice to carry you throughout the first 100 levels.
Personally i really like sharp precision shot u can upgrade it on general weapons to have a stack every 0.5 seconds if u havnt seen the mod look it up in the access info
Just to let u guys know while yes the tamer is a very good weapon the dps numbers in game r actually displayed incorrectly some guy did the actual math for each weapon at level 100 and there is about 5 things that outclass tamer
Ammo depletion is a recurring problem in boss fights. There's dozens of boxes on the ground but you have to kill your own ads to get one white box while everyone thinks your a noob.
funnily enough i built my naz gun into crit rate and used a catalyst on it several times so at this point in time i end up doing 200k+ dmg on a weakpoint crit with the rate it crits being at 90.6%, im still working on lowering the use space of some mods but once i do i can definitely get the damage higher and possibly crit if i squeeze in a few more mods
Tamer OP I run a similar setup with crit chance with an energy activator and a catalyst. I have more capacity I think lol might have put 2 catalysts on mine. A good combo for your secondary is having element gun barrel combined with elemental damage bonus on main Tamer I notice some bosses take more elemental damage when the shields are down. Firearm attack colossus dmg crit rate and weakpoint damage as my rerolled stats. I use a Greg's reversed fate for ads with shields and sniping the small weakspots.. some sort of scout rifle is so good for when the boss is enraged and you need to hit small targets. I built only for crit rate damage and prioritizing weak point and ignored status entirely
I didnt even notice Ultimate weapons come with prebuilt mod slots, might be worth getting one that uses a different ammo type than the Tamer in that case
Nazeistra's Devotion is pretty easy to obtain, and you also get guaranteed drops for the Restored Relic and Greg's Reversed Fate for progressing through missions in Hagios and Fortress.
I’m so confused on crit rates on this game, 30% of 10% is only 3%. If it adds it on, then it’s 40% for the tamer, which still seems good. If this is applied to the thunder cage, 30% of 20% is only 6%. Which seems pretty crap. But if it added 30% it would make it 50% which seems mad op.
Im useing Endering legacy and enjoying more thab the tamer. In also using blair with backfire mod to add base crit chance bringing it to 35% crit chance without any % increase mods. I just build blair for duration,some cooldown and Def stats. If i wanted to push him more..it would be MP/cost reduction for 100% uptime on his 2 and his passive x3. Blair by no means is needed but it pushes firearem dmg more and I like how the character looks and plays.
My tamer shoot for 30k non crit round on solo play vs regular ennemies. On 4 player boss battles this go down to 5k. SO if you have any way to lower bosses defences go for it.
If ur maxing the weapons with max forma and everything crit is better as you will need all the multiplier instead of getting diminishing returns on ATK and Weak point damage.
I watched a recent vid saying hand cannons might be the best DPS (with spreadsheets to prove it) when fully leveled/spec’d but I don’t know enough about end game to know what to think
how it works the reroll? its implemented since the start of the acc or you have to complete certain mainquest to unlock it, i already unlock (i think, the last map, the gulch area) and idk where to reroll my weapons, i wont do it yet because i still dont have lvl 100 stuff, im at lvl 54 or so but i want to know all the things for when i need them.
It's literally just like warframe you mod your base dmg then criticals then your FR then element for your character you go for DEF and elemental resistance in stack HP for ADD CLEARING it's just whatever Is fun

how you have so much defense i have the defense module fullt enhanced and i got the supernova set for thr external components but i only have 29k defense
A good idea would be to tell people that are starting the game that this only applies if you are at a higher level or at max level, as weapons will lose all the gold perks when levelling up

Fire Rate does have diminishing returns. It’s called reloading. Reloading is one of the worst things for sustained DPS in boss encounters. That’s why people need to put the Thunder Cage down against colossi. You spend half your time reloading and that’s bad DPS.

FIRE RATE IS THE WORST- let me explain firerate in this game is mostly dictated by your fps so the 25% increase result in a 10% real increase assuming you have 60 "stable" fps

Do not put crit rate on most weapons. Crit dmg is fine but also not that great. On the tamer crit rate will add absolutely nothing cause it has base 10% crit rate. Put crit on like handcannons or snipers with 40%+ crit rate.

This video is already obsolete. The tamer has been debunked because the in-game dps calulation is all wrong. The Tamer does not have the highest base dps and its low weak spot damage makes it particularly subpar against bosses. You're good with the mods.

Just the reminder, weak point is the place where you shoot enemy and get yellow number. Orange is cri and Green is elemental advantage.

Sounds like this is a bug. It seems it applies to the ammo type instead of the weapon hence it is shared between both

With the right mod you can stack elements too
Instead of fire rate up you could use fire rate concentration same cost but you get an extra 6.5% crit dmg

Releveling is easy in the swamp, just kill thing, up your poison resist. I went from 1-31 or so in less than an hour.

There’s also a robot to get ammo in boss rooms he has a cooldown but that’s okay never been a problem

if u fire in weak point (tab blue colored), weak point mod shine even on base x1.2 smg
Toxic element is by far the best enhanced damage type to use on weapons. It's the only element that can stack dots.

In the dev note they mentioned that there are a lot of other guns surpass tamer with the right build, tamer is just early game friendly weapon.
