Steve Roach & Serena Gabriel Live at SoundQuest Fest 2021

SoundQuest Fest, first experienced as a live festival in Tucson Arizona in 2010 was created by ambient music pioneer Steve Roach. Picking up where this left off the 2021 version united a worldwide gathering of artists and audience members together for a 3 day online event unique in the realm of ambient music. Presented From March 26-28th The event was was a groundbreaking moment for this genre of music with a continuous 3 day flow of streamed performances, audio-video wonder worlds, Ambient VJ sets, Interviews and music videos on TimeroomTV and deep immersion zones. Not saying anyone's passing on anytime soon, but I've been concerned that the ambient masters that I've listened to since the 80's have had no heir apparent...until now.

No reason to stop loving those "80's masters", but seriously there are oodles of brilliant ambient artists on bandcamp, almost too many to keep up with. Of course, nobody sounds *exactly* like anyone else (which is a good thing), but this music isn't going away and is still actively evolving and being produced.

If you have basic entry level piano skills, you can create this music. The hardest part is buying the gear as it can get pretty expensive.

@@TheKeeperoftheGarden Yes but I know many ambient artists will agree with me. Technically it only requires low level music technical skills. However imagination is more important. Kind of like some of Picasso paintings

@@ramencurry6672 I think you actually meant to say: "If you have basic entry level piano skills, you can play these instruments." That's a whole lot different from "being able to create this music". To create this kind of music, you need to know about harmonics, composition, mixing layers of sounds together into a coloured audio-painting , and so much more. You corrected yourself in your second comment. :-)

This was a great! Serena was great here! However, I beg to hear another collab with Kevin Braheny Fortune. 'Desert Solitaire' in its vinyl form was a most profound recording at every turn. -'Desert Solitaire' & 'Western Spaces' both have cult followings. I think the world is ready for another Roach/Braheny-Fortune collab!
