Amazing!! I've been a massive fan of both Steve Roach and Tangerine Dream for at least 30 years now. Such a treat to see them perform together!! Thank you for putting this out there!!!
Wow, I didn't knew they made it together, just followed them separately. This is a life gathering for the spirit of sound experience. This performance has a more chill ambient mood, with some hypnotic sequences together. I liked this, just a feeling. Thank you 🙏
Agree, the new TD lead by Thorsten is vastly underrated, especially live in these Sessions, but also the last few albums. Fans that gave up on them during the Jerome years, or the last few albums before Edgar's passing (admittedly a bit too much sameness), need to come back and check this out.
Regardless of who they were back then and who they are new, nothing stays the same, that was then, this is now and kudos for TD for keeping the vision and the dream alive for so long.... When I first herd these guys, with the soundtrack from the movie Miracle Mile, I was already listening to Kraftwerk and many others....
I just wasted 15 seconds of my life reading one of the comments here, hoping that there would have been respect for Edgar's vision of the Quantum years which is sadly not acknowledged by some fans, considering the band has always evolved and current band leader even outlasted Chris Franke. Just my humble opinion as everyone has one...!
@@ChiefExecutiveOrbiter i think he is not criticizing the new alignment and the show, I think he is criticizing someone else who was criticizing the new alignment
TDs music regardless who actually is currently part of this project always helped me to get along with the madness of this world. So thanks for sharing this!
So I’m about 1/3 through this, and it’s awesome. I do not wish to contribute to any argument, add to any debate. But I sure wish I had been there on this night! They say you can’t find heroes any longer. Here are some of my heroes. ❤
Thanks so much Beth! This both looks and sounds better than what Steve put up on his official channel! Must have been amazing to be there. A once in a lifetime experience.
Lovely performance, the interlocking grooves and tonal colouring here are reminiscent of the years around 1980, especially the superb Tangram and Phaedra albums. This joint ensemble should try to do a reworked version of Tangram 2, with its dramatic reversals and funky, brooding sense of destiny.
I can say even though I absolutely love Krafterk, and will forever be a fan, I was disappointed when I hardly heard any new material from them or new exciting variations on their classic songs when they played here in Vancouver.. I hope Jarre and Olkenfold come here
This evening at the Magnolia turned out better than I anticipated! Especially this encore presentation with Steve Roach! I also recorded the evening from a different angle. I am happy that I did. It wasn't easy trying to stabilize by iPhone for 57 consecutive minutes for one performance! Boy was my hand tired! I bet TD was ready for a break also!
@@bethchella They actually do publish these improvisations on CDs. They're called Sessions and now there's like eight of them. But the newest has content from Polish concerts from last year, so for this to appear, you"d probably have to wait another one.
I missed these guys tonight, they're playing one night here in Vancouver,BC... I really hope I get to see them in the future..I hope they did a tribute to Vangellis.. If I still had my Korg Wave Station and my software, Reason, Rebirth,Nunendo etc.. I would put something together...
wonderful stuff. TD are one of the few acts I've heard who are capable of doing a one song encore which goes on for close to a hour but this is excellent (:
Tangerine Dream was an idea created back in the late 1960’s by Edgar Froese and others in Berlin. The only constant since then up to his death was Edgar but EVERYONE who was involved put something into the bad during their time there. Edgar is no longer there but the “dream” continues and evolves. Music didn’t end when MOZART died and people still play/listen to his music and similar created after his death.
@@stefanocorbellini4480 Except Thorsten Quaeschning is in the band for 15+ years and has composed alongside Edgar and was appointed by him personally to take over the project.
Love Steve Roach always... I always hadta sift through Tangerine Dreams various incarnations of that band to find songs I liked. Atem, Phaedra and Zeit are more to my liking. I have no idea why these guys still call themselves Tangerine Dream. I love electronic space and ambient music along with other kinds of music. My collection covers a lot of early electronic music. I stopped buying it like I used to cuz it seemed to morph into a sound that became so alike that it started to get indistinguishable but I still search it out. There's still good music out there but quality over quantity is my motto.❤
"The enormity of their flat brain; the enormity of their stupidity is just overwhelming. You have to do yourself a favor, when you're out in the country: try to look a chicken in they eye, with great intensity and the intensity of stupidity that is looking back at you is just amazing” Werner Herzog. You can’t miss his particular German accented English. He is talking about chickens. 😂 WTF TD 😂
This is nice but when the original members of TD are no longer the group, they should change the name (brand). Even Jerome Froese is not there with this version of the group.
Let me just say, comparing someone's style, creativity, skillset, imagination, innovation to someone elses in the same music genre is like comparing two architects with with the same everything and both build two completely different buildings, how stupid and asinine and pointless is that?
I have just wasted 55 minutes of my life, watching this and hoping something musical would emerge, it didn't. As a veteran electronic musician myself, all I have to say is, absolutely boring as always with his "performances". TD will never be the same since Edgar passed away and no original members remain, adding Steve to their show did not help. Just my humble opinion as everybody has one..
Could it be really bad sound quality of the recording? Did you asked yourself if what you heard is really what was played there? To me it is pretty obvious that 90% of the sounds are missing. This kind of music tends to be butchered when recorded and played at low quality. A "veteran electronic musician" like yourself should know that, right?
@@andrew4982 That's what is. I was there at the show. It sounded a lot better in person than it does in the recording. I tried a a couple recordings of the performance too and my audio quality turned out the same too. A phone mic recording doesn't do something so grand like this justice. I thought it was a great experience
Awful electronic meditation. No direction and no meaning. Totally empty practicing sequencing of a non professional musician that follows no direction. Sorry for Edgar’s melodies. This is not tangerine dream. If they want to waste our time with more noises like these then forgets their concerts.
Amazing to see Steve with another all-time fave.......totally awesome!!!

This is great, thanks for capturing it. It was my first Tangerine Dream show since the 90s, I think, and Steve roach was a great bonus!
Great stuff....absolutely loving the Quantum era music...right up there with the Virgin year stuff in my eyes! Thank you for all your AWESOMENESS!!

Yes, it's in El Cajon just outside of San Diego. It's actually Steve's home town, too. He played in his current city in Tucson the night before.
