Hey Jonny, I write to you often and always find myself saying the same theme: You are a Godsend not only to keyboardists but to musicians in general. Your kindness as a person makes you immediately likeable and your generosity to freely share your knowledge puts you in the rarefied legion of music Saints. I love you, brother.
Wow, thank you for sharing such thoughtful and beautiful words. I am honored to be able to share music with such wonderful people like you. Blessings my friend 🙏
Beautiful chord progression and improvisation techniques. Many thanks from a 70 year old beginner from across the pond. Your videos are an inspiration to me. Keep up the great work.
I am a member of Piano With Jonny and I just want to say how awesome the teaching is. Also, this quick tip is another example of exceptional teaching. I am going to use this and put a performance video on the PWJ sharing forum. Thanks again to the maestro for another very useable learning video...... 👋👋👋👋👋
Thanks so much Jonny. As an aging learner of the keyboard and the jazz genre I am very grateful that you share your passion knowledge and technique without reservation
It is amazing that you share your knowledge with us completely for free. As always, incredible content. It is unbelievable how much one can learn from your videos.
Great creativity ideas and music theory basics. I use chord grabs haphazardly when experimenting on piano. Your explanation on how to create the grab is very clear. Eg. play Cm chord then B-flat chord and use the 1,3,5 of the B-flat as the chord grab notes. Thank you Piano With Jonny!!
Thank you so much Jonny for your beautiful and inspiring piano tutorials! I've always loved the moodiness and melancholy of the minor key structures, and this exemplifies those very poignantly!! Your lessons have helped me discover a knowledge and develop a playing style that I have sought out for so long to fulfill my musical ambitions!!! You are greatly appreciated beyond words!!!!
This great! I love C minor on the piano. I'm a guitar player so Cm is not my favorite there but transposing is not very difficult for me. I especially like the right-hand "grips". It's very intuitive. (At 12:29 you say "F-grip" but I think you meant G-grip because you play the A natural note) Thanks!
Hi there - I've just started watching your videos and am in awe - currently just doing the blues challenge as a complete beginner and am really enjoying it. This video reminds me or the Death of love and trust from the firm - I'd love to see some tips (or a course) around the Firm's Dave Grusin score.
Really nice sound to the minor 9 when played in this note progression. Kind of like a movie soundtrack; a bit moody and smokey but no overwhelming crunch. I'm guessing Jonny did pretty well in theory class.
Nice! I was playing around with this... I love the left hand pattern. I changed the Gm chord to G7b9b13, then went to Abmaj7 Dm7b5 G7#9 Cm7 (or Cm69 if the last time through). What do you (or anyone else) think of that? Oh and another thing... I made the bass pattern 9 beats long... 1 1 1 1 3 2 (with emphasis on the fifth note).
Wasn't there another video you did covering another chord progression in a minor key? It was 3 chords still but you used inversions to have the bass note move down and back up.
Who decides which progression is the most beautiful one ? ... " these minor chords are beautiful " ... which minor chords are ugly ? ... is C#m more or less beautiful than Gb minor ?
Sad fact: I'm an ordinary teenager, I shoot good music content, or rather I play the piano. but no one is watching me, God bless those who have read this:)
The most beautiful? Where? When? To whom? TH-cam is a place for all the best, most beautiful, smartest and loudest... illusions. Next time put this four letter after your "most" whatever you believe.. IMHO. Thank you Mr. click hunter! Try 11/13 chords... The most beautiful you ever heard. 😉

Beautiful melody! There is just something so deep and mysterious with minor chord progressions. I actually like it better than major and diminished.

Reminds me of Joe Sample and David Benoit.
You are amazing while playing, thanks for the videos overall.

What do you use for studio monitors for your piano?
Amazeballs!
Haha... I feel like I'm in the Typewriter room in Resident Evil! 😀
Thanks Jonny! I always enjoy your content. Have learned so much over a few years..
Nice movement Jonny do you have all of these LH patterns written out in a PDF that can be purchased
Hey Jonny, Videos are fantastic, What Piano Brand do you Play ? Thanks

I think I said this before ... These videos are brilliant! ... PS I am not a musician that was knocked out of me at school.
Wasn't there another video you did covering another chord progression in a minor key? It was 3 chords still but you used inversions to have the bass note move down and back up.
Reminds me of the police I'll be watching you. Love the way the bass runs over the 9
Great minor chord progressions, Jonny!
May I ask what keyboard or digital piano you teach from?
David
The chirds remind me a bit of the siundtrack of Baghdad café
Damn John…. Thnx
What would be something similar on a major chord
Playing a major chord with the relative minor
Just adding a few notes.... When you say this it gets tricky 😉
How about using Am, Dm and Em? Then you only play white notes. I'm just a jamming guitar player and black notes confuse me.
This is how I play guitar
Herbie Hancock minor 11th voicing?
I read the first four words of the video title then got scared but then i read the rest
🎼👍
Welcome back to Silent Hill
So Dorian.
That is tasty.

Post an address to the music so we can watch some. That would really help Mark.
