    I will be honest I am learning to play the piano at the age of 60. I am retired now and have the time to put to it. I have always enjoyed music but never had the time or funds to work on it the way I wanted. I used to play the electric bass badly when I was 20 but raising a family and the expense of that kept me from continuing. I hope to follow you as mush as I can and your relaxed calm style is very appealing to me. Good luck with the series and I hope to send you other posts as time goes by. Rick M.

      Same situation Rick (61) but using a Motif xf to compose, very new to keyboard and find it very enjoyable training to use both hands at the same time. Never too late to learn and it is a good way to keep that brain alive :D

      Jazz Tutorial the chords and sequences you share are so beautiful I cried. Such evocative arrangements. Thank you for sharing.
      I didn’t see any chord progression formulas. Bit confused why say progressions in the title when it’s “lush chords in great sequence”. Did I miss a progression formula?

    • @SheilaghRiordan
      @SheilaghRiordan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much. These are lush and clean and beautiful. And I can do them (with a lot of effort!) I’m fairly new to all this, bit are these truly “progressions”? If they are would you please pretty please write the formulas for us so we heathens can apply it to any key?

    I'm a 66 year old Nooby of almost 4 months but I discovered your channel early on. You blew me away since it was way over my head, but I kept coming back. Your 3rd progression will probably become my favorite also. I had to rewind and listen to the description again, but then I answered both questions correctly.
    You really have a neat way to teach. Relaxed. Merci beaucoup.

    Someday I’ll write a worthy comment that expresses fully how much I love your channel, but for now: I just stumbled across you, this is my first video, and I’ve been playing with it and soaking in your easy-to-comprehend, yet deeply satisfying content for over an hour now. You’ve ignited my passion to better understand and compose jazz-inspired piano with which to play around, only now I’ve found a video I can learn from and resonate with. So thank you. This video is perfect.

    your first progression reminds me of walking in Chicago at night. the streetlights reflecting off the city, and the shimmering river that cuts through streets all around. Romantic, deep, a bit of grit, and the possibility left in the last few hours of the night. Strangely specific and lovely

    I really enjoyed that Julian; thanks so much. I gave up piano when I was 10 (60 years ago) and this has got me interested again!
    All that time ago I used to love listening to my parent's old jazz 78s; one in particular; Joe Sullivan playing Gin Mill Blues. I couldn't work out what the left hand was doing and my teacher wouldn't (or couldn't) help me, nor could anyone else. I gave up out of frustration. I recently found a recording on here and managed to get the sheet music from the U.S. It's way beyond me now, but I reckon this is within my grasp. Excellent!

    • @HuckleberrySauce
      @HuckleberrySauce 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I want to know too! When I tried it on my piano I came close with G - Am - C - F, which sounds very similair. but might be missing something.
      Play with left hand these notes: G-D A-E E-C F-C,
      Right hand: B C E A
