Why was the first play not an example of an offensive foul? The defender established legal guarding position, he maintained verticality and there was substantial displacement by the offensive player who initiated the contact. I’d call this a charge. Seems like while you are trying to explain why there is no foul by the defense, you completely ignore the charge.

Re the very first play - WTF?! I completely agree there is no foul by the defender but are you saying that despite having achieved LGP, there was also no player control foul here? Are you seeing the same collision, displacement and space the offense created with his contact? Terrible example for an instructional video. This defense, BY RULE, should have been rewarded with a PCF. Replace the video or stop.publishing them.

Wait wait and wait…. On the Lopez play. Why is the defender (Lopez) penalized with a foul? He did jump vertically….all he did while going vertical was to twist his body to minimize the impact caused SOLELY by the offense. Just because a player turns in mid air (like a corkscrew) DOES NOT mean he “failed to maintain verticality.” Your defensive foul call is bullshit. If Lopez hadn’t been displaced by the offense, his feet would have come down in precisely the same place from which he jumped. And by the way, the lead official had a perfect open look and didn’t whistle this play because …..there was NO foul. I know you’re an experienced ref but the examples provided on this channel are starting to suck.

@@Aloulou11the defense is entitled to turn his torso to protect himself and minimize the impact caused by the offense.
