I remember as soon as I was gonna screen on a guy he just elbows me as soon as I'm going to put my body on him pause... but yeah foul asf he's like nah no foul
@@iiTzLurks just keep ur forearms up and tucked in like Jokic @6:00. its legal since you are in ur cylinder and it makes you super firm and helps deliver that nice hard body contact. sure it leaves you open for a nut shot but that usually doesnt happen if im playing pickup i will turn my hands out and catch their body if someone is going hard and not looking cuz im not trying to put a hit on anyone in a pickup game. all legal just cant hold the body but if they are playing dirty trying to push me out the way ya ill hold the body
Thanks for this content! Someone at the gym scolded at me for making an illegal moving screen and I knew I didnt do anything wrong. I'm glad this video confirms it.
Fr it’s annoying how people get very salty, especially when they’re losing. But yeah Most times I say, “Yo, it’s a game” smh. We’re not playing in the nba finals.
warriors are notorious for breaking the rules with illegal screens, people don't shine the light on it, because people are so worried about their "gorgeous" ball movement, they don't know a single thing about illegal screens
why does GSW get away with illegal screens on almost every possession? With their shooters, this is an egregious non call. Like allowing Shaq to charge. Did the league want a new dynasty?
It has been my experience that a lot of the illegal screens that get called are a result of the ball handler's actions and not the screeners. The ball handlers have a tendency to start moving toward the screen BEFORE the screener gets set, causing the screener to set an illegal screen.
As a screener myself, it's on us if we want to make an illegal screen, if my teammate started running before I set the screen,, then the defender of that guy started moving, I would stay still to where I am, so that I won't be running towards the defender and make an illegal screen.
Great explanation. There dozens and dozens of plays happening in today's game that would be called a foul 30 years ago. Mostly moving screens and travelling. When I say dozens and dozens, I mean dozens and dozens PER GAME. So old-heads and old-players do have a legitimate gripe about the game today. It's more entertaining from an offensive sensation perspective, but it really does make it so the game requires less skill and no one is required to color within the lines. It's crazy how the game cleaned up physical contact fouls but allowed these types of fouls (moving screens and travelling) to run rampant.
...so your telling me wide screens are legal until you start tripping over their legs? So a player should purposely trip vs. trying to avoid it to try to get the ref call?
my qns is, if I am the screen, and the person is bigger than me, crash in me, cause me to move and moves into me again. Is that an illegal screen? since I am moving?
because they are protected by the league, like the kobe and shaq lakers, and the big 3 guys of the miami heat with lebron, and the lebron-kyrie cavs, they are protected
Say you are in the paint, and the ball handler is at the top of the 3pt line. Then, one of the people on offense begins to push you to either corner, which leads to an open lane for the ball handler. Would that be illegal?
That's a legal, play, makes you work for your defensive position. But if the push is too obvious and not just a simple overpowering of bodies, then that's illegal.
This video didnt age really well with todays NBA :) Not a single screen at NBA todays were legal Edit : also not a single screen is illegal in NBA at the same time
i stood still in the middle of the court and someone who didn't saw me ran into me and got mad accusing me of a dirty screen? justified? was i wrong? plz answer
People tend to react sometimes when they get hit with something they didn't see coming, fight or flight kind of situation. If he didn't see you then how could he accuse you of a dirty screen? If you know what you did was legal and on the guidelines of this video and not dirty then that's all that matters.
So of a player sticks his but out in the last second of the screen, causing the the player to be bumped off their path, that should be illegal. I seen that happen a lot in the a nba and it wouldn't be called.
Sir you’re clearly mistaken…hungoori said these are all legal. He also invented basketball and the rulebook. You should come on Wednesday nights so you can watch him play football. Best offensive lineman ever ;)
warriors* offense, all clippers do is iso, unless you are talking about this season, they did lots of moving screens, they were called for it sometimes
That is why the screen must be set up well before the offensive player make a move...maximize the space between the player and the screener..make sure the defender cannot recover from the screen
Seems to me- If an opponent doesnt have an opportunity to avoid it- youre initiating the contact. If you're set and they have an opportunity to avoid it- they're initiating the contact
Been playing basketball for a decade and a half… And this is the best explanation of screening I have ever heard.
I remember as soon as I was gonna screen on a guy he just elbows me as soon as I'm going to put my body on him pause... but yeah foul asf he's like nah no foul

My exact reason for viewing this video. People just get salty when they’re bad at basketball
Fr it’s annoying how people get very salty, especially when they’re losing. But yeah Most times I say, “Yo, it’s a game” smh. We’re not playing in the nba finals.
You were banking on them understanding the “firming up” principle in pick up basketball?
This is the least consistent call in today's NBA
Facts
Ong
golden state and phoenix gets away with that call the most in this league
They need to just get rid of it!
It's complicated. Lol.
2:18 every GSW screens
best screening video on the market rn m8
Draymond actually illegal screened on play one
His legs were too wide and blocked the defender
Majority of them are moving screens from Draymond smh
warriors are notorious for breaking the rules with illegal screens, people don't shine the light on it, because people are so worried about their "gorgeous" ball movement, they don't know a single thing about illegal screens
3:45 picture perfect.
I got tripped by a screen and ppl said I got broke 🤦♂️
why does GSW get away with illegal screens on almost every possession? With their shooters, this is an egregious non call. Like allowing Shaq to charge. Did the league want a new dynasty?
very easy to follow even for a new player/fan -tyvm
Set the screen first before to make a move...maximize the space between the player, the screener and the defender
This video shows me how much my middle school basketball coaches failed at teaching the fundamentals.
Smh

Is the Jokic one really legal?
Thank you!
Well I need y’all refs to start fouling deandre jordan out of the game. Cause every screen he sets is illegal
Question: can you crash into the screener?

The traveling is markedly worse than the screens IMO
By this explanation the gsw always set illegal screens
They wont call these against the warriors
6:03 is it not necessary to screen and roll?
Does anyone have the link to the ''Step through'' video from Joe Borgia?
4:13 BTW Anthony Davis does that illegal screen 99% of the times without gettin call.
draymond green does the same you warrior bandwagon
...so your telling me wide screens are legal until you start tripping over their legs? So a player should purposely trip vs. trying to avoid it to try to get the ref call?
If you wanna bash your teeth into the court, yes LMAO.
yes because you can't have an illegal screen without contact to begin with.
1:38 GSW does this each and every time lol
5:27 so basically if he choose to go under and “flop”, that will be an offensive foul
i was thinking the same thing
Pretty much
Yes
That’s why having basketball iq is pretty huge someone like CP3 can read the situation and then draw a foul
my qns is, if I am the screen, and the person is bigger than me, crash in me, cause me to move and moves into me again. Is that an illegal screen? since I am moving?

@@theonlygoodonehere2259 nah not Lebron he averages 2nd most paint shot attempts and isn’t even top 25 in freethrows

yeah that is called boxing out

on your offense, can you screen a defensive player to prevent him from moving into a rebounding lane?
Excellent and intelligent video.. thank you
Dramond Green should be sat down and shown this video. Every one of his screens are illegal.
So Booker’s screen against Zubac is illegal, Clippers got rubbed and may get eliminated because of it !
This also does not apply to the golden state warriors*
Now i have a better understanding thankyou

Warriors allowed this kind of screen Buy Ref with no offensive foul
by Adam Silver*
easy to understand thanks!
Great content

Is it legal to screen using my back?
So of a player sticks his but out in the last second of the screen, causing the the player to be bumped off their path, that should be illegal. I seen that happen a lot in the a nba and it wouldn't be called.
Sir you’re clearly mistaken…hungoori said these are all legal. He also invented basketball and the rulebook. You should come on Wednesday nights so you can watch him play football. Best offensive lineman ever ;)
Sounds like he’s just good and your bad , oh well
The best walking screen I’ve seen in my life
Maybe you should show this to the NBA officials.
Illegal screen count personal foul or not?
Yes.
Thank You Sir!
Warriors do this every night. 😂
Buh how does one screen a player that is on motion ?
Anticipate where the player is going to go and meet him there ready with a appropriate screening stance
Way to many grey areas!!
tryna learn the game
I think much better to use clips of GSW since they utilize it pretty much 👍👍👍
WHAHHH!
1:01 the clippers offense
warriors* offense, all clippers do is iso, unless you are talking about this season, they did lots of moving screens, they were called for it sometimes
Very good video
Love to screen to support my team
Thankyou 😃
thx !!
Complicated stuff.
How did I get here
You rock! Thanks.
TIIIAGO SPLLITTEER?
Illegal screens happen 50 times a game today. Like traveling and carrying, illegal screens are rarely called. Today's NBA is a joke.
We all know this whole thing doesn't apply to GSW!
thanks !!!!
They need like 6 refs in the NBA these days. Lol
Every warriors play ever lmao. SMH
👌🏻
stupid nba ,so many illegal screen
whats the point of doing a screen if you can only do it when you opponent has the opportunity to avoid it? lmao
That is why the screen must be set up well before the offensive player make a move...maximize the space between the player and the screener..make sure the defender cannot recover from the screen
Kinda what I was confused with. Probably to avoid injuries...
Seems to me-
If an opponent doesnt have an opportunity to avoid it- youre initiating the contact.
If you're set and they have an opportunity to avoid it- they're initiating the contact
Basketball is a stupid game with too many rules to make it an enjoyable experience. Same with lazy American "Rugby wanna" be.
