Thank you very much, sir. The tensioner that you fixed is still working fine until now. The stock tensioner only lasted for 1 year, but the one you taught me has been working well for 6 years. Those who don't believe it, it's up to you and your motor heheheh. It has been tested and proven that what sir is teaching is effective up to now 😍
Exactly my question, I have a cbr250r (which i believe has the same engine) and cus the tensioner was loose, there was rattling from the engine, mechanic told me to replace the tensioner. Replaced it, then it was okay. But, tensioners arent suppose to wear out 16,000 km in the first place.
Great video. What do you think about a manual tensioner? I installed a manual one into my bike because the spring loaded one broke. Now I have just a bolt that you can tighten manually.
Great video, thanks a lot. The only part that confuses me a bit is, when you preload the tensioner before you put it together again. This basically makes sure that there is enough pre-tension and the cam-chain isn't too loose and making any noise. It looks like you're preloading for 2-3 turns? Is that right?
When it is not fully extended, which is usually the case when it is inside the engine, the timing chain guide and the chain itself makes sure all the slack is gone. There should be no small amount of slack at all. It does not move back and forth a little. It always pushes forward.
As for my bike i have 39,000 plus kilometers. But i made this video for other owners who keep on buying new tensioners only to have them fail again a few months later.

Thank you for posting this… saved me a ton of time trying to wind it up and shove it in the carrier
This also applies to all auto-tensioner systems, not just the crf250l. ...Great video!
Laking tulong ng video mo sir!! Maraming salamat po!! Nung nabuksan ko yung sakin, na bali yung spring. Ngayon okay na. Salamat po sir!!
Great video - thank you ... and please keep the how-to videos on the CRf250L's coming.
I will try my best to make them. It is quite hard since i am alone and i need to focus on what i am repairing and holding the camera.
Tried for hours putting mine back together. Great video and thanks for upload. I made the key and job done in minutes. Thanks again.
great video man.. greetings from Turkey 👍🤘
thanks for the video! fixed mine today, following your instruction

Great description well done and thanks
I see you turning clockwise when you say counter clockwise? And also a very good explanation
I am sorry Bert Ober my mistake. Always turn clockwise.
Great video, followig your instructions I have repair mine and it works great! Thanks!!!
Thank you so much
Thank you for detailed information!
Thank you so much😊.. just sucessfully fixed
I heard CBF150's tensioner is competible with CRF250L's engine and does not have any problem. What do you think?
Great video. What do you think about a manual tensioner? I installed a manual one into my bike because the spring loaded one broke. Now I have just a bolt that you can tighten manually.
Manual tensioner are fine just as long as you dont get carried away by tightening too much. The tendency to over tighten is higher.
Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for! 👍
Excellent, mines getting a bit noisy so i'll give this a try...great video.
Hi what does the noise sound like as I think mine maybe faulty as well
great video, thanks so much for this!
Welcome. Glad to be of help. Ride safe!
thank you 🙏
I drove 35 miles with this breakdown. do you think my engine is ok?

Been searching for this answer too. Do you find the answer?
@@MRsickcat84 I'm doing 2,5 to 3 turns and it seems to be fine. I also made a tutorial here th-cam.com/video/M7lFocRM5Mc/w-d-xo.html
@@RTWriders thx mate 😎
you said spin the screwdriver counterclock wise, but in the video you did it clockwise?
Yeah. made a mistake in the actual video
Excellent tutorial!!!
I have '17 CRF250L and here we are just like everyone... So changing it with oem will repeat the problem.
Great... Thanks for sharing this video 🙂
Do you know if this fix would work on a crf230f engine (air cooled)?
It will work on any bike that has a spring tensioned cam chain tensioner.
You’re a legend - thanks!
Made my key from an old Stanley knife (box cutter) blade on the belt sander. Easy peasy.
When you have the cct not fully extended is supposed to move a few mm back and forth when you press from the hole adjuster ?
When it is not fully extended, which is usually the case when it is inside the engine, the timing chain guide and the chain itself makes sure all the slack is gone. There should be no small amount of slack at all. It does not move back and forth a little. It always pushes forward.

Good video mate, how many k’s are on the bike?

Awesome, thanks for the info. Happy riding
Can you fix if the spring is broken? If yes do you have a video or photos how to fix it??
Yes. Usually it will break near the the center or where it holds on to the screw in the midde. Just bend it like the old one and tension it again.
why would you bother for 30 bucks just buy a new one
Because the new one you are going to buy will have the same weak spring preload as your old one.
30 good reasons
I bought a new one and 1 month later the noise returned. I put a manual tensioner in.
