This basically makes sure that there is enough pre-tension and the cam-chain isn't too loose and making any noise. It looks like you're preloading for 2-3 turns? Is that right?
Now that's one bad ass mofo thank ha bubba my bike has been down for a few weeks kinda dreading cracking in to it again just cause its been cold and wet here and the wife sure can bitch when im fixing my bike in the living room u save me a head ach and a couple hours so thank ya from Tulsa ,ok
When it is not fully extended, which is usually the case when it is inside the engine, the timing chain guide and the chain itself makes sure all the slack is gone. There should be no small amount of slack at all. It does not move back and forth a little. It always pushes forward.

Exactly my question, I have a cbr250r (which i believe has the same engine) and cus the tensioner was loose, there was rattling from the engine, mechanic told me to replace the tensioner. Replaced it, then it was okay. But, tensioners arent suppose to wear out 16,000 km in the first place.
As for my bike i have 39,000 plus kilometers. But i made this video for other owners who keep on buying new tensioners only to have them fail again a few months later.
I drove 35 miles with this breakdown. do you think my engine is ok?
I heard CBF150's tensioner is competible with CRF250L's engine and does not have any problem. What do you think?
I have '17 CRF250L and here we are just like everyone... So changing it with oem will repeat the problem.

Do you know if this fix would work on a crf230f engine (air cooled)?
It will work on any bike that has a spring tensioned cam chain tensioner.
you said spin the screwdriver counterclock wise, but in the video you did it clockwise?

Because the new one you are going to buy will have the same weak spring preload as your old one.

Manual tensioner are fine just as long as you dont get carried away by tightening too much. The tendency to over tighten is higher.

Yes. Usually it will break near the the center or where it holds on to the screw in the midde. Just bend it like the old one and tension it again.
