      @@ImpressionBlend, although technically, 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy and 'The Hobbit' are a win for South Africa since J.R.R. Tolkien was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa (where one of my grandfathers was born) even though he was British (so another win for the UK. Haha!), but there's no doubt that New Zealand provided the incredible scenery and a lot of talent, so there is a trifecta of victories. :)

    Hemsworth was indeed excellent in this movie. So good in fact, that I think he may even get nominated for an Oscar for best co-actor. As for the movie itself…of course not as good as Fury Road. But I felt much darker. Despite the spectacle, I actually came out of the movie rather depressed. I wasn’t expecting it to be that dark on the emotional level that it was…so I went to a bar afterwards, had a Guinness and burger, listened to the classic Rock on the establishment’s sound system and cheered up a bit 😉

    • @ImpressionBlend
      @ImpressionBlend  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I sure hope he gets nominated! He absolutely deserves it!
      As for it being darker... I will say this: "Fury Road" is exhilarating and makes me want to drive recklessly, "Furiosa" makes me want to have nothing to do with any of this. So I totally get it.

      💯 @daviddatura I was alarmed how dark and intense it was. My initial take was Fury Road is better. After a second consideration, I think I like Furiosa better.

    Dementus is just a rip off version of Humungus, Praetor Jack is just a discount version of Mel Gibson's Mad Max, Immortan Joe was in his own right until this film made him a desert version of Darth Vader, and the fans are cucked out of their money yet again. There is a Fury Road comic that stated The People Eater was in charge of Gas Town, go figure they retconned that for this train wreck - Furiosa will not age as well as its predecessor. This film left me with more questions than answers and ultimately they should have just bitten the bullet and hired Mel Gibson one last time instead of Tom "Hardly there" Hardy for Fury Road. This unasked for prequel "girl-bossed too close to the sun" and is paying for it, I'm not a fan of how Furiosa never even once mourned her mother and on another note, this takes place in Australia but as per usual there are no Aboriginal Peoples - not even one! Like where'd they all go?! Seriously, the film needed a cameo from Charlize Theron at the end to fully transition from the younger version of her character... instead they just rushed past all that and expected people to suspend disbelief. 4/10, watch it once and be done with it as the CGI usage was the last straw. The ending was too on the nose with the messaging, so much so the whole thing may as well have never happened just like Dementus himself.

    I saw Furiosa yesterday & watched Fury Road again when I got home. The two films compliment one another really well. Fury Road is definitely superior with the action, but Furiosa has a lot of heart & answers a lot of questions. I absolutely loved seeing it. I saw it in Dolby which is by far my favorite way to see movies. Mad Max has always been one of my favorite franchises & Furiosa is worthy of its title.

    Finally saw Furiosa....got to say I honestly was bored. I love Fury Road but this film has pacing issues.
    I also didn't buy Taylor-Joy as Furiosa. She is way too waif-like, lacking the raw physicality of a Charlize Theron. Hemsworth was a caracture of a bad guy, more of a clown than anything else. The story just lacked something and I felt the entire proceedings very predictable.
    The action sequences were decently staged but the story was plodding and held the whole thing back.
    Compared to Fury Road, this film is a poor distant cousin.

  • @TheAnadrome

    It's a sci-fi desert year isn't it? I just saw this yesterday at our iMax theatre. It's worth it just for the sound alone. I pretty much agree with you. Anya T-J nailed it. And Chris Hemsworth definitely needs to stretch out darker. A brilliant performance from him. Yeah a little too much CGI at times, but it's worthy, so worthy. And when rewatching the Mad Max saga in the future I will definitely be watching this before Fury Road, not after. Here's a tantalizing question for George Miller to explore: How did the Green Place get destroyed? Because it doesn't seem to have come from our trio of fortresses. Thanks again Marianna, whenever you drop a video, particularly for something like this I drop everything else and watch it.
    PS Do you mean to nearly imitate the style of Jack T. Chick mini comic tracts with your covers? It works well. Or have you farmed out your covers?

    • @ImpressionBlend
      @ImpressionBlend  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Honestly, a great year for sand at the movies! I'm not complaining. I do feel like I still have more questions, Green Place among them, and I wouldn't mind seeing a movie set between "Furiosa" and "Mad Max: Fury Road".
      Looked up Jack T. Chick - I had no idea! Mine definitely look very similar, not intentionally though. I was just trying to find a good way to layer text over the images that looks slightly different from what people normally do on TH-cam.

      Thank you! I see a lot of people praising Tom Burke, I even heard someone say he'd be a better Max than Tom Hardy (no way, sir), but honestly his character is so underdeveloped I don't think there's enough time for him to make an impact. It was good. Not great but good. It's hard to top Fury Road. You can tell the haters who haven't even seen it. Yeah, the "girl boss" trope has been overdone in a lot of movies but Furiosa is NOT that sort of character. She gets beaten several times and she relies on a strong male character to mentor her and help her survive. It is NOT a woke movie. Unfortunately, the movie bombed this weekend. A holiday weekend no less. It only did in the $30M range which is catastrophic.

    • @ImpressionBlend
      @ImpressionBlend  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh yea, people who are complaining about girl bossing or whatever woke even means these days either haven’t seen the movie or had their mind made up before they watched it. Thankfully, I haven’t seen many people with that take. As for the box office - sad times, but if you remember “Fury Road” didn’t blow away the box office either, though still better numbers than “Furiosa”.

    I loved thr first one but this one didnt really work for me. Part of it did but it felt so disconnected narratively. I thought the first scenes with the bike chase sniper scene was setting up a totlaly different movie. The movie should of been about the 40 day war with furiosa playing max's part in the first, in shocked they skipped over it with just a voice over. For such big groups in an apocalypse with limited gas its also shocking they dont know each other. Chris role didnt work he almost came off comedic. This feels like sin city 2 or something. Same art style and feel almost but misses the mark.

    I saw Furiosa on Thursday in Imax, and yesterday I ended up rewatching Fury Road, which I've seen a few times, the first time also in Imax. Not for me... who appreciates action and revenge films, I only see Furiosa as a superior film in numerous aspects. The villain has a lot of presence and kills people in a very cruel way, while the good guy doesn't say anything, goes missing, hidden and only resolves things at the end. We've seen this so many times, especially in westerns, and here it works so well again.
    The revenge is so satisfying and the action scenes are so detailed and planned, everything is understandable. And the 15-minute war machine scene is unbeatable. I have definitely changed my mind in relation to prequels. I just hope that, unlike Fury Road, this makes real money at the box office.

    I hope in the future the film industry learns to champion the “crazy” aspects of filmmaking! With this and I Saw the TV Glow now is an amazing time for creative thinkers to enter the filmmaking industry and share all their mad mad stories!! Keep up the good work with these videos :)

      This! So much! The film industry used to take many risks, but the superhero and cinematic universe craze pushed the film industry towards safe formulas. I hope the pendulum is finally swinging the other way.

    Furiosa was even better and crazier than Fury Road for me with a fast pace and insane action that keeps getting wilder.

      I can't say I feel the same way, but I'm glad you loved it! What was your favorites scene?

      @@ImpressionBlend I loved when Anya's Furiosa was using her sniper rifle to escape Bullet Town. Furiosa's mother with the rifle was sick too.
      My jaw dropped during the assault on the War Rig when the attackers opened their parachutes, it just kept going. I adored Furiosa's roaring black buggy jumping across the sand dunes to get to Lord Dementus, just like Lord Dementus speeding up his monster truck to catch Furiosa & Jack.

      I mean... to each their own, I personally don't agree, but I know a bunch of people who would agree with you
