Well, you do realize that most times they do encounter them they do shit to report back to HQ or earth? How would they, long range com's dont exist in Alien PLUS getting a ship to fly that distance? Thats YEARS till you get answer! They alway's had this problem, thats why EVERY FRELLING GAME is the same: Them marines encounter them Xenomorph FOR THE FIRST TIME! And it FITS! No FTL drive to be found in Alien, humans aint that advanced to begin with.
As a warehouse guy, those lift-walker mechs would actually be practical as fuck compared to forklifts

the writing isnt that great. they should have actually got a soldiers opinion of it before. you dont retreat. you fall back. then the heavy gunner wouldnt have to be told to open fire. you also let your team mates know you're throwing an explosive. and there's always someone in charge that doesnt follow the rules and thats how bad things start. thats why it would never make it as a real movie.

Ya know, the people on the station deserved their fate for putting only one person on the actual duty of an unknown package... and everyone else is just casually ignoring the alarm... or for some reason instantly went on lunch break.

This is VERY common: Without proper training, people are reactive, or act only AFTER the fuck-up, while it takes training and risking being viewed as a paranoid to become proactive, or act BEFORE the fuck-up. So this scenario is entirely realistic.
Usually the proactive people endlessly fight with management since no fuck up is unavoidable, but every precaution costs additional funds: There are countless potential dangers, thousands of avenues for those dangers to cause harm, hundreds of actual risks (it is cheaper to cut those corners, and nobody died because of it, yet), tens of real hazards (hazard = risk + negligence), and only potentially one fuck up (which is usually just [hazard +bad luck]). But this one fuck up can sink the facility, the company, or even the industry if it is big enough...
@@user-tb7ml8kz7h I mean you're not wrong, but that's why corporations have risk-analysts who actually think up ridiculous scenarios and situations that could liquidate revenue and assets. It's through these analysts that contingencies and policies are made into effect so that when shit hits the fan, there would be strict guidelines on how to deal with the situation to mitigate damage or nullify it entirely.
Weyland-yutani isn't about thinking ahead, they're about cutting corners which is why everything they touch turns to shit.

As far as they were concerned they were at literal backwater end of the universe - and they were there doing routine things probably for decades already if not more (basicaly doing mundane tasks all the time) - so i would imagine they would be rather relaxed instead of on the tip of their toes and it's not like an unusual thing to ignore things like the inconsistency in the manifest - most likely they thought it was some petty smuggling - thus not worth the hassle and then there is a question if they were properly staffed to begin with both in terms of number of personel or their competency. On top of that there was no indication they've had any warning about possible xeno infestations (which wouldbe doubtfull as even if the company knew it would remain silent- especialy if it was one of theirs black projects) or cult activity on the planet so there was really no reason to be on high alert - quite frankly they were easy pickings for someone with malicious intent.
One coudl sepculate on things like it the "boss" of the station was "cut in" on possible smuggling of stuff (so he was greedy and he flunked her off to hide that fact) - because his reaction was either due to that - or indeed he was a redneck to bored to do his job properly - there is also a potential option he was also a cultist (but i find that rather hard to belive) - it could have been either of those or all of them.
What is certain we know one person was a possible cultist - the one who opened the first crate - he was either a cultist or was paid by someone to break into it - probably by the head honcho of he cult (they could have paid him to break into it under a guile of say telling him there was some stuff they wanted for him to shal we say "liberate/steal" and they knew that would trigger the xeno to start on a rampage as a result.
That said company most likely knew about the xenos there - because otherwise they wouldnt setup the combat satelites out there - those things aint cheap both to set up and then later on maintain (and we all know how penny pinching W-Y can be) - so if they were there - its more than likely the company was setting this whole thing for a long long time.
Who wrote this story?! They need to direct the entire alien franchise.

It’s a sci fi masterpiece comparable to, do androids dream of electric sheep. They need to bridge the worlds and open up a wondrous universe with rogue replicants and evil corporations.

I loved that one of the pilots looked like a clone of the first drop ship we saw in “Aliens”. Nice to see the tribute to her - shame they killed her off - I liked her!
I love this game and the story, but something that I love the most that I just found out here is that the Musical Score is a mix of all 4 original movies' theme/ scores, the music is not only mixed together but also given a different sound. I picked up many musical cues from ALIEN 3 as well as for ALIEN Resurrection, and of course ALIENS and ALIEN. This game was made with love.
I love how every single bad guy without exception was a white man and every good person was female or minority. Cause if theres one thing, it's that white men aren't the majority of sci-fi fans.

Isolation is a jewel, but this is easily the next best Aliens game. the Atmosphere, setting, and tactics are spot on. and the story is as good as the Dark Horse Aliens EU.

Also, didn't the Bischop android essentially redeem the androids in that their programming no longer allowed such betrayal? Given this story is set after that. Even Isolation maintains that aspect of the androids.
Hey look at it! A non-white female lead character who is strong and capable, but doesn't have to be a whining asshole or naturally limitlessly magically amazing at everything, and even has enough humility to agree and admit someone else is right when their argument is valid. Gods I miss actually strong female characters like Ellen Ripley or Sarah Connor.

When a series of game cutscenes are better than the last 6 Alien movies combined, you know that the franchise has lost its way. Of all the Alien films, only the first one was good and the second one better. They should just let game makers and Dark Horse take over, or get Cameron back.
You're objectively wrong. Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3: Assembly Cut are miles better than this simple story. And Prometheus was better too.

@@TheFirstCurse1 Eh, I am unsure how I (or you) included Alien and Aliens in my list (the only two good Alien films to date) but I will disagree on the rest of your assessment. Aliens was the pinnacle; had they simply made the Dark Horse 1990's Aliens post-story they could have printed money. Instead, they felt like the stars of the show were A) Ripley in her many, many incarnations and B) sadness and bleak depression.
Cameron was the only one of them that understood the balance. The original 1990s AvP game also got it right.
To be clear, I am referring to : Alien 3, Alien 4, Alien vs Predator, and AVP:R Prometheus, and Covenant as the "last 6" movies. I saw Alien 3 in theaters. I was a HUGE fan and had looked forward to it for years, but it was a massive dissapointment---a depressing retread that eliminated all the efforts of the Aliens film survivors.

They’re bio weapons. They do what they were designed to do. Even their makers lost control of them.
It likely always fails because they were designed by the Engineers as a weapon of war to wipe out the Yautja.

My only complaint is the lack of the original pulse rifle and smart gun sound effects. To me that was the main “wow factor” of the sci-fi weapons. I feel it’s as much of a staple of the movie as any of the original Alien creatures

In my opinion this was one if not the best Alien(s) and RTS games. Almost a love letter to fans, I just wish it were longer. Kudos to the team behind it, I'm hoping for part 2 or another story in the Alien universe with Predators. Alien Romulus coming out this summer and then the series (fingers crossed they are at least decent), but if they are a success it would make sense to make another Aliens game

i brought this game thinking id refund it in an hour (i play fps & rts)
i was hooked after getting a taste of the combat in it, its such a true to heart aliens experience, the lore has been shit on so much by movies this feels more respectful of the ip than ridley scotts latest attempts.
my only criticism is:
1 i wish you could replay the game with your maxed out marines on a higher difficulty
2 i wish you could replay the game with an OP ripley as an easter egg
fingers crossed they do some DLC for this, i hate season passes but id purchase it to keep the content coming for this game!
Prometheus and its focus on AI were great, but the film should've been longer. They cut too many important scenes.

I finished the game on Ps5 twice and then on Pc, because I couldn't get enough of it and now i'm Here. The Story and Voice Acting is absolute Brilliant.
If anybody wants more good Alien Lore, there are three Books combined in "The Shadow Archive". They also nail the Alien and Aliens Feeling.

@@renevil2105I don't think those are actually the Engineers we know from the movies. Its probably a race that was in cahoots with them tho due to the Engineer-Like structures, or even prisoners that the Engineers used as Test Subjects. Which eventually led to the Giant Eggs and the Giant Xenomorph. Plus heres the scary part, the one Giant Xenomorph probably wasn't the only one in there. Many of the Skeletons if not most had holes in the ribcage. There was multiple of those things down there, luckily either the others died or only one woke up.
possibly not engineers, also, per their wiki, the big one missing hind legs is a queen, hatched from a different species from human, who originally built the city
@@medievalmechanic927 Fun Fact: It actually has hind legs. They are just extremely small, and I cannot exactly say what they look like. They are covered in shadow most of the time so it's hard to tell. Also I'm gonna look at the wiki but idk if it's official or not. It may be a Queen but the Crushers also seem to have the moveable head in crest feature in this game, so it just may be a design choice more so than it actually being a Queen. Plus their hosts were massive anyways, so they would be big regardless. Yet again I am gonna go check the wiki just in case.
(Yeah just checked the Wiki, I honestly think they called it a Queen cause they got confused with the whole head moving separate from the crest thing. It's a brand new variant of Xenomorph so naturally it would be hard to pinpoint exactly what stage it is in. Hopefully the devs will divulge on what it is so we don't have to rely on Wikipedia for information.)
The almost chipper voice the computer uses to say "Engaging targets" is nearly as creepy as the aliens.

The giant lumbering xenomorph seen at the end reminded me of Melchiah, the first boss from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. I'd love it if that series was remade in the future.

Never played the game thinking about giving it a go now though. This is such an underrated universe and so much more could be done with it. Ridley Scott is truly one of the greatest Sci-Fi pioneers of our time.

@@danunsworth8623Excuse me? Ridley Scott made the universe. James Cameron added to it, and kind of ruined the Xenomorph completely and turned it from a horror icon into an action bad guy. He damaged the series as much as he improved it.
@@TheFirstCurse1 No, no he didnt. He Directed the movie, Dan O'Bannon wrote the story and the majority of the script. Other writers, including Cameron expanded the universe into what it became in the books and comics.

its crazy as much as tech advances in this universe how they still struggle to kill xenomorphs. I think they are just OP AF in most stories. It would make since for the queens but for the worker bees they should be cannon fodder

Loved THE SHIT out of this game. Played 100+ hours (at least 20 of that was Achievement hunting, yup still a thing!) The atmosphere was *chefs kiss* so SO spot on. One of the few games I forgot I was playing. I genuinely cared and was afraid for the safety of my people. Brilliant. Would recommend. The fact they literally have an entire movie worth of cinematics...kinda bananas. I watched all of these, of course, but ya know.. hours apart. Seeing them back to back to back...man, this story was deeper than I thought. O.o

It's not all high quality CG. If you watch it you'll see a lot of in-engine cutscenes that don't look too good.

An amazing story where I got very attached to the characters and where family is at the centre of it (just like Cameron's Aliens).

If these Xenos came from humans, why do they have legs with 3 joints like a dog?? Alien and Aliens got the feet right, and everyone after Alien3 thought the "doglegs" thing looked "cool". It doesn't belong where Xenos come from humans. The ONE thing that pisses me off about the Alien universe.

This already feels lightyears ahead of ones like Alien: Resurrection, Prometheus, or Alien: Covenant. Wow, am I liking this game. Also, I like the arc Hayes has, similar to William Cage from Edge of Tomorrow. Going from corporate policy drone to in-the-field soldier once they realize the true importance of the mission, that it's not about the numbers or the money, but about saving as many as you can.
If you watched it and thought about the story then you'd realize that you're wrong. This is in no way better than either Covenant or Ressurection (the 2 worst in the Alien franchise), let alone Prometheus.
@thefirstcurse3123 I'm sorry, I just don't blindly buy the direction that Covenant was going with the story, especially tying the origin of the "perfect organism" to a megalomaniac android. That is already a flaw because if the android has gone insane with power like a human being, whom he deems imperfect compared to the Xenomorphs, then he himself can't be perfect.
@@sebastianemond5313 The story yeah was horrible. I just enjoyed the Neomorphs and the setting was creepy. That's about it. I still think it was better than this game though, that came across as super generic and had some really stupid stuff in it.
I also appreciate some of the cinematography of Covenant and it's overall vibe. But it's still a 3/10 movie to me.

Not a single one was I rooting for, with how they had no protective gear for those mutagenic spores, no stable aim when they blew up their own ship trying to shoot the Neomorph, and no brain cells to figure out this obviously lying evil android was luring them into a trap with the facehuggers. When I have more respect for someone like *85* from Alien³, you know you're in trouble.
