Denver Broncos just got more PROOF they stole the NFL Draft...

  • We are almost to NFL Training Camp and the Denver Broncos just got MORE evidence that they crushed it in this year's NFL Draft! While George Paton has made questionable coaching hires with Nathaniel Hackett and questionable free agent signings with Russell Wilson, Randy Gregory and Frank Clark, one this is certain...he's a GREAT drafter. In this video we break down Sharp Football Analysis that ranks the Denver Broncos 2024 NFL draft class as the 8th best in the NFL. If Bo Nix ends up being the player we think he will be, this is sure to just improve. Even without a 2nd round pick in this year's draft, George Paton and Sean Payton were able to pick up late round picks who had no business still being on the board! Troy Franklin, Kris Abrams-Draine, and Audric Estime certainly should have been drafted much earlier than when the Denver Broncos were able to steal them. If they develop on a similar trajectory to Quinn Meinerz, we will be in good shape for years to come.

Go watch a highlight video of last year's broncos and listen to how many times commentators say a wr was wiiiiide open when russ threw to them. Coaches scheme open receivers way more than people seem to think. Qbs just have to be able to find them

Davis 6th round, Sharpe 7th round, Smith UDFA, McCaffery free agent, Nalen late round pick, Schlereth free agent, Brister free agent, Ray Crockett, Alfred Williams, KeithTraylor....etc. etc.

Have you taken a look at what Seattle got for Wilson? For a trade routinely called "the worst in NFL history", it was not even close to the worst in the last 3 or 4 years. Have you checked out the deals made by The 49ers (Trey Lance), Rams (Matt Stafford) or what Cleveland gave up DeSean Watson? Stafford stepped onto a prime time Super Bowl roster & did the expected, then sunk to oblivion his 2nd season, one in which he was clearly WORSE than Russell Wilson. He rebounded a bit last year, but he's clearly on the decline & he's 35. He cost the Rams two 1st rounders & a 3rd, plus Jared Goff, who is both BETTER than Stafford as well as 5 years younger. That trade propelled the Lions to being Super Bowl contenders now. Goff alone would have been more than worth it in a straight up trade for the aging Stafford. What about Trey Lance? The 49ers traded THREE 1st rounders for him. Two years later he was dumped off to the Cowboys for a 4th rounder. He's the clipboard caddy in Dallas now. Does this make John Lynch & Kyle Shanahan morons in your view? Or how bout that DeSean Watson deal? Wasn't that a beaut? They sent Houston THREE 1st rounders plus a 3rd & a 4th. How's that working out? In two seasons with the Browns he's started 12 games, threw 14 TDs, 9 INTs, completed less than 60% of his passes, which is almost impossible to do in the modern NFL..& he's pulling down $46M a year. They're locked into him for another 4 years & this year his dead cap money is a whopping $200 million. He makes the Wilson deal look like an armored car robbery.
Do you have any idea what the Seahawks go with those fantastic draft picks we gave them? Seattle got a starting LT who is pretty much an average player. They got a smallish CB who had a nice rookie year, but the fact is his future in the NFL is likely as a slot guy not outside since he lacks the size. They also got a decent edge rusher who starts. What they did not get was a quarterback, & they will need a new one VERY soon. Had they been smarter, CJ Stroud might be a Seahwawk now. By way of comparison, the Broncos acquired an edge with essentially the same level of talent & production as the guy the Seahawks got in the 2nd round with our pick in the 7th round (Jonathan Cooper). They're the same level pass rusher but Cooper is better in coverage & also plays special teams. Getting him 5 round later...that's a clear win over Seattle getting Boye Mafe with that 2nd round pick. We also snagged Ja'Quan McMillian as a UDFA & he is now a starting slot corner who is not far removed from the dude Seattle spend the #5 pick in the entire draft on. They also got another 2nd rounder from us. That was spent on backup OLB Derick Hall, a backup special teams player.
Given that the Seahawks are no better than they were two years ago, this trade had little impact on either of these teams. In point of fact, it may have served as the catalyst for Denver getting Sean Payton. Think about that....

That trade has not made Seattle any better. In fact...the players they acquired have been pretty disappointing for the draft capital they had. In fact, the Broncos added players at the same positions they drafted in the 7th round and the UDFA scrap pile who who are pretty much the same players Seattle spend that draft capital on.
BTW...were you one of the roughly ONE PERCENT of Bronco fans who were not jumping for joy when we traded for Russ? I'm sure you will claim you were, because that's literally something almost nobody admits to, but to be clear, there was scarcely a single voice of opposition in either the fans base or the media. Some of the media people who are now the most critical were totally on board.
You would have made that trade also.

I dont believe extending wilson was all on paton. Its more likely that in the process of selling the team, it's easier to sell if the team has a preceived franchise quarterback and Upper management is pushed to extend wilson prematurely.

I cannot wait for this season to begin, to all the "journalists", and "reporter's" to eat a big fat crow. I believe we got rid of the cancerous players out of the locker room. Frank, Greg, Russ, Jerry. Steve Smith JR, knows talent and been that guy for the Panthers. And when he said Jerry was just a guy that's the moment I wrote him off. Dude always had a stank attitude, on the sidelines and not a team player. Im sorry if you have that type of attitude go play another sport like golf, or tennis. Good luck to the browns 😂. I wish them the best. But i believe that well do fairly well not playoff good but just from the outside looking in. I trust Sean, unlike our previous HCs after Gary kubiak. I believe this is step 1 of building something special here.
