I got into watching snooker about a year ago, and Shaun Murphy is one of my favorites. He always seems so easy going but carries a slight air of seriousness that I like. TWO maximums within a 3-frame span? Absolutely fantastic!
Shaun is a top fella . He once run over a cat and when he seen it was still he jumped off his push bike and gave it mouth to mouth . He brought it back to life and he still has that cat today . Top bloke .
Love the guy, such a gentleman. The bugger just doesn't age; saw him at Trafford Centre around 7 years ago and he looks exactly the same. Fantastic player and always has a smile on his face.
For a second there I thought you'd called him the burger. I was ready to write "c'mon, I know he's a little rotund, but...." Very good player. I had no clue he did this. I seen him on tv talking last night about something happened at the crucible? Maybe. Possibly something along the lines of a whitewash as I heard ten nil or something? I was cooking in the other room so wasn't entirely sure.
Cliff Hanley - A 147 Break is known as a Maximum in its purest form. Stop with the technicality bull shit, because it won’t fly with us snooker purists....
@@MultiWalrus1 I totally agree. He is the first to congratulate his opponent when the guy has simply played better than he has. No excuses or complaining. And of course when he plays his brilliant best he makes it look so easy but never gets cocky or arrogant. A true sportsman and a great great snooker player.
What precise and perfect play. With every shot left in the exact position needed for the next one, Murphy didn't have a hard shot in either frame. Really impressive. It's entertaining to watch long pots and tricky shots, but this type of play has a beauty of its own.
Laughed so hard at this!! Will say though I love the energy and how much more exciting it can make it to be in that environment as a player and have that type of support
That last black going in like a bullet with a faux stroke beforehand was a great end to an snooker exhibition in every sense of the word. Jimmy played his part too.
Ppl talking about big pockets but let it not detract what a good knock it was , your positional play still needs to spot on irregardless of the pocket size , and positional plays makes the shot. The art of break building, a shot can be unplayable if your off by a matter of inches.
bullshit..if you want to know whats easy..its playing 9ball with the bucket pockets..of course the pockets are big but the size of the balls does'nt make it any easier mr.proffesional himself
With larger pockets professionals will aim for one side of the pocket or the other to give themselves more options on positioning. A slight difference in angle can make a lot of difference to them.
Beyond awesome! It's just an exhibition but, if I were a fellow pro player, I'd make a mental note of this performance of his. And he's so humble about it as well: a true professional and one of nicest guys in the tour. Very well done, Shaun.
Phenomenally talented player. And yet my first thought after seeing this is to wonder how on earth he hasn’t won more trophies. He is one of the biggest underachievers in the game.
Is he though? 4 time world Finalist and 1 time champion. Two of these finals he competed against probably the second best player of all time in John Higgins and top 5 ever in Mark shelby. In the two Uk finals he has lost, he faced Shelby and Ronnie.
Awesome stuff, whether the pockets are regulation size, or a fraction larger. Getting a 147 is near impossible on regulation tables, for anyone. When you consider, the VERY top top tier of pro players, how many frames of snooker they must play over their career, day in, day out. And STILL, the very best have a “tournament 147” tally well below, say, 30. So to get two 147’s, in back to back frames (or was there another frame in between? Can’t remember) is pretty staggering!!! Well done Shaun. What’s more, you ensured that there was one VERY happy crowd!
I think these pockets are far more generous than uk ones, I can tell from memory in the overhead views they look a lot wider, but still very skilled to make maximum not once but twice in same match and very smoothly done Sir! Might have to book tickets for this venue as I've been meaning to visit Hungary and what better way than to enjoy some snooker too...oh and join in the clapping ;)
Hungarians are a simple but proud peoples, and it's adorable to listen to them clap excessively. It's well-meant, and that's all that matters! High-five, Hungarians!
The pockets are the same size it's the the fall or cut of the slate. The drop is further out meaning the balls don't have to go perfectly in the centre to fall. Taking nothing away from the fact that these are two perfect breaks and well played by Shaun
THE ENFORCER SIMON BALLS oops sorry. You probably don't play snooker or maybe not as good as you think you are. But if you're a decent player, you know it's annoying. If it doesn't bother you, then you're only a casual player with only 1 digit breaks

Shaun Murphy: two 147 maximum breaks in 3 frames. Hungarian Snooker Gala, 19 May, 2018, Budapest. where does it say in the title 2 in a row? two 147 maximum breaks in 3 frames.
That is amazing!! Jimmy White helped some by leaving great starting shots. The 2nd frame he lined the red up great for Murphy almost as if he tried!! lol
Shaun Murphy is my absolute favorite Snooker player. I know alot of people have Ronnie at the top of their list (just guessing)... But I think Murphy is a very humble guy. On that angle I believe he was just hitting slightly under what would be a stun shot so it keeps momentum, kind like when you first learn to screw and do it on every single shot and it just slows down.
My Father was a ref and told me that at exhibition matches more than one of these players had asked him to go easy as the crowd had come to watch high scoring matches. In tournaments the same players wouldn't want an easy table as one wrong shot could too easily give the game away, and in turn make it easier for lower ranking players to win.
Adrian Gunnell made 3 147s in practice in 4 frames. Peter Ebdon 2 147s consecutively in an exhibition. Mark Selby almost 2 147s in practice. Can find in youtube. :)

That last red, on the first 147, along the cushion, with screw back, was just sensational.
Yeah playing a shot like that against the master of the screw shot
Was it a top spin?
Unbelievable shot.
@@lun2c01 No, top spin makes the cue ball follow the strike. It was back (or bottom, that is) spin.
It sure was !! That is a very tough shot.
I've come to the conclusion that Hungarian people love a good clap
Eastern europe is very cold. The Hungarians have to clap to stay warm.
@@lanternman13 that's a pretty fucking dumb statement, maybe you should visit here instead of talking trash
but I admit it's pretty hilarious that they clap at every shot :D
@@lanternman13 Try visiting Budapest between say, May and September...you may change your mind after that!
Another reason why they have to clap so often: It makes them forget that Hungarians lost all kind of humor over time due evolution.
