- There's nothing better than securing a victory with a maximum break. Barry Hawkins did just that against Neil Robertson at Hungary’s first-ever professional invitational snooker tournament on January 4, 2025.
That double on the last red was epic. Congratulations, Barry, what a fantastic Maxi.
And, the award for the happiest audience in the history of snooker goes to.....
The last couple of days, I've watched 3 matches from this venue...and the crowd are the best I've seen in almost 50 years of following snooker! They are so appreciative of the players, and are SO well behaved! They are a credit to their people, and crowds in other venues would do well to follow their example! Also, it's so lovely to see Barry get a max, as he's one of the nicest guys in the game! Well done to him!
Brilliant from Barry. One of the most beautiful 147s.
Two very likable players, two of my favorites. Glad to see “The Hawk” get a 147.
Robertson? Likable? Surely u cannot be serious.
@ I AM serious. And please don’t call me Shirley.
@goofe.washington953 I'll level with u - I dislike Robertson and was in a mood for an argument why, but your reply simply made my day! I thank you from the bottom of my heart and wish u a very pleasant day. Finding a person who gets Airplane! references nowadays is like finding a four-leaf clover 🍀- very rare and joyous occasion, makes me very happy and I am definitely sending some of that happiness ur way! Cheers and be safe.
@@goofe.washington953 I agree with you. John McEnroe is dead wrong on this one.
@@jesseboy7951 What a wonderful response from you, one which I appreciate very much. And, I speak jive! Thanks again, and take care.
That was a beautiful 147. He had many difficult shots but handled them well. Congrats Barry...well done
One of the best 147's I've seen, lots of tough shots.
He had to earn it. Not a "simple" 147!
Yes, and isn't it great to see Barry playing so well
Black to Yellow was a peach, well done Bazza👍
If some people think that the 2 maximum was made because of the pockets of the table, they are not close to the truth.
However in the previous invitational events there was a slightly "pottable" table which is normally used in lots of showcase matches.
But in this tournament format an official match table has been used. The same pocket size like on the professional tour.
Just to highlight it: This match was the second in this event and this break was only the first century as well, however the four invited professional players had played 11 frames before this maximum. So it is more of a fantastic affort from Barry and Neil next day.
I was there, and to see my favourite player live once in a lifetime maybe, and producing a maximum, it is still hard to believe. These are that rare, even though I have been watching this sport for 20 years and I am not sure if I have already catched any maxi live, even on TV...
Thank you for the organizer Team: Balázs Csurgó, Gábor Buzás and Gábor Wéber for this event!
Congratulation to Barry, brilliantly done!
A happy healthy prosperous New Year to you all in Jesus Christ's mighty precious name amen 🙏❤️ Thank you to you all for all your enjoyable Snooker games entertainments ❤️ Very much appreciated 👍✅ fantastic and well done to you all 💕
A weird start, after that a beautiful break
Awesome 147. Yeah!
Black to yellow was sublime
Magnificent
One of the best i ever seen
Brilliant from Barry many difficult blacks and a last red double!. Doesnt get any better than that amazing😂
Perfection cueing. Well done Barry.
Class encouragement by Neil too. 🫡
it is Raining 147s there -- are these gaff pockets?
Exactly what I was thinking...that’s the fourth or fifth in just a few days.
I thought I was clicking on the Neil Roberson 147 video from yesterday at same tournament!
I don't think so, it was a kind of half gala/half competition event, I think the players took it not so seriously and played more relaxed and boldly
Indeed. Giving the fledgling Hungarian audience just a bit too much too soon, I think.
Robertson's final red hit the cushion several inches before reaching the pocket from a reasonably acute angle. It should never have gone in.
Audience is clapping for every pot. That is nice.
This started once he got into the higher numbers at least, every pot would be a bit much lol.
Barry got a max. break shortly after Neil got one in the same tournament!
So many 147’s lately. The game is advancing
I think it's just the ever unpredictable nature of the game, with its ups and downs. We were bound to experience an abundance of maximums within a short time. But you may very well be right.
@ makes it much more entertaining.
That double was a bit of cool! but not as smoothly done as Neil's imo but always good to see maximum break. At a few angles I do agree with some saying about pockets, to me looking a bit wider than traditional UK matches perhaps.
Audience keep clapping going my head in
Either the balls are smaller than normal or the pockets are wider than normal or both! These 147s are falling out of the sky at the moment.
This is an official match table, with the same parameters as used on the World Tour.
But yes, the balls are old table tennis balls, you are right!
Forrest Whittacker’s greatest break…
Would The commentators say ‘a very knowledgable crowd’
😂
So many snooker experts in the comment section who i believe can hardly make a break of 10
There is or was a top golf coach who worked with many great players and never played the game,he knew the mechanics and what makes it all work,so i’d hang fire with that comment.
@Philshki82 Doesn't work that way with snooker though. You can't justify your argument by bringing in a golf expert in a game of Snooker dude. Or do u even play snooker??
147 has become more common since Riyadh Season 167 break.
I think because they’ve made that more difficult, so it’s made a 147 mentally easier because it’s no longer the highest available break achievement maybe
147's seem to be as common as a trump win
What izzzzzzzzzz this bs
Too many going in these days, they are obviously playing with buckets for pockets compared to a few years back
