When I was watching the first video I saw of Stevie and my wife walked in, quickly I said That's her airplane, and my wife said with a grin, And she is Pretty.
It is so refreshing to see a young person that has it together like she does . You rarely rarely ever see that nowadays . She is definitely one in a billion
As a student pilot in SoCal I want to say that your videos have been truly helpful to me, espsecially with your meticulous radio and checklist procedures, and high level of professionalism. You set a good example for the younger generation of future pilots, of how aviation can be awesome and safe at the same time. Glad to see you posting again
And for not-so-young, aspiring GA pilots too. I am about to schedule my discovery flight... your videos have helped showcase some of what to expect. Thank you!
The fact that you've flown your airplane manually exclusively, will give you a better appreciation and use of your new autopilot. A lot of pilots depend too much on the use of the AP before they've really have gotten enough "Stick Time" and hand off the aircraft to the AP very early on on most of their flights. I think that makes them less proficient and able to predict and handle a myriad of situations they can find themselves in. You on the other hand are, IMO, an excellent pilot. You will benefit from the AP and will appreciate and use it better then a lot of other pilots. I'm very excited to hear you wanting to go IFR again. As you know, it will open up flying to you in so many other ways that make it safer and more flexible then just with VFR. Thank you as always for taking us along with you. I so very much appreciate it Stevie!
I have seen military pilots with 1000 hours that don't have your radio skills. Not to mention - situational awareness and sense of urgency. Excellent piloting.
I really appreciate your episodes. My father, an airline pilot, would commend you on your consistent use of the Check List. He felt this was the most important aspect of piloting.
I started flying classes when I was 16 but dropped them and basically forgot I even did them. Seeing you reignited that old interest. It's great to see another video from you Stevie. Thank you.
I've so missed your videos. I was raised in Camarillo so I'm happy to see new people coming to our old Air Force base and bringing new life to the area.
I really didn’t realize how much i missed your videos. Its so nice to see someone who becomes so proficient at what they do at a young age. The love you have for flying is very evident in your video’s. Fly safe!!
As long as she flies the same and looks the same, no harm to a vintage plane to get it up to modern spec. Keeps it viable and safe. Keep your vids coming.
And it is such an important thing to do. By calling everything out, you are so much more conscious of what you are doing at that moment and you also give yourself the time to properly do the task and not just read the list and go in your mind "yeah, I'm sure I flipped that switch"
I would do the same when making a movie of my flying. Other than that, I work with a panel-mounted checklist that is reduced to the "survival items". I.e., a "check"list not a "do"list. E.g., I don't use a checklist to start the engine.
Panel work is looking neat! Also, as someone going for a private right now I'm really thankful you keep a lot of the radio talk in these videos. It's really helpful for familiarizing people with the comms needed when talking to ground and tower.
I’ve always been fascinated with aviation, your videos made me take the first step of finally getting into it… just booked my first flight lesson in Chicago next week!
Regarding your new autopilot, during my instrument training (in a Bonanza) my instrument instructor (who, as a corporate pilot, flew single-pilot IFR) told me to "make liberal use of the autopilot" for IFR flying. It frees your brain and hands for the multiple things you must keep track of and do beside just flying the plane.
Very interesting that you are the 3rd TH-cam pilot I follow that has gotten a full Garmin upgrade on their classic aircraft. It is so fun to watch these classics become more modern but continue to, as you say, keep their old plane charm.
Great video! Great compromise between adding capability and preserving the vintage look. I recently upgraded my airplane from no autopilot to the GFC 500 and it has been an utter game-changer for IFR flying. You'll love it!
I have learned so much aeronautical information from you thank you so much Stevie. With my part 107 license now I'm looking at upgrading to my pilot's license too.
That's awesome! If you haven't already, you should definitely check out Schmiiindy on TH-cam and Instagram, she has a 1957 C182 and recently did a Garmin install as well and kept the panel traditional in style! It turned out great!
Great to see you back. Since I own several own several late 60's and newer high performance vehicles, I have always tried to keep everything as original as possible for resale value (since I've been here over 3/4 of a Century now, that's for the benefit of my daughter and grandkids in hopes the resale value is not diminished because of modifications that destroy the original vehicle). I know full well that mentality has zero to do with the best course of action when it comes to aircraft. I am very pleased to see that Neal is doing everything they can to keep the original layout of your panel, while at the same time, giving you the current avionics, instrumentation, and auto-pilot for optimum flight safety. Your decisions as to what you are having done with the upgrade seem very well thought-out to me. Great Job. Looking forward to seeing the end result and riding back with you upon completion. Please keep the great videos coming.
It looks like a lot of us, your followers, are fascinated following this new journey with you and your refurbished plane, looking forward to your first flight with the new Garmin Bonanza.
Stevie...I have a 1955 Cessna 180 that I wanted to keep as original as possible. I did a full Garmin update except no autopilot. Very similar to yours. Even though the plane was technically IFR legal, now it is IFR safe for single pilot. I also upgraded the o470L to and I/O 520 which was incredibly expensive. That said, I have a better than new Cessna 180 tail dragger that is a very capable airplane. I have over 8000 hours and nearly 2500 hours in this plane. You are absolutely doing the right thing. Preserve what you can, modernize where possible.
So cool! As a retired Electronics guy, I can really appreciate the advances in navigation and control electronics. Looks like Neal Aviation does incredible work. I'm sure they also follow FOE practices.
Absolutely love that you’re maintaining the vintage look and feel.. so many people put giant MFD and PFD’s in those beautiful old airplanes and it just looks out of place.. it looks like they took great care with running and bundling the wires! I helped a friend redo the panel in his RV-8, and wow! I wish we had the ability to scan and recreate the panel digitally like that back then!
Thank you, Alex! Putting a giant screen in the panel would be like putting a Tesla screen in a vintage car, just wouldn't feel right. Definitely a no-brainer to put the GI 275s in since they maintain the vintage feel while providing the same capability as a larger PFD. The 3D scan was definitely a nice touch! Can't wait to show the finished product - the attention to detail on the install is incredible
Stevie, I'm so happy for you. I know getting the electronics upgrade must be so exciting! 21 Charlie is a beautiful plane. I'm sure it will be even more of a pleasure to fly her after the upgrades. Love your channel. Keep up the great work!
I really enjoy hearing Stevie talking to the control towers. Although I can't make heads or tails out if it she's totally convincing to me that she knows what she's doing. Be safe girl.
Congrats Stevie on your instrumentation upgrades, that's a huge improvement and upgrade for flying IFR... Absolutely love your enthusiasm, and your radio skills are second to none... Can't wait to see the new panel when it's complete..
I love the systems approach you take Stevie, it's clear that you take your flying seriously. The panels going to be great and I especially respect the effort to merge the new with the vintage nature of this flying machine.
Stevie glad you are posting your flying and updates to your planes. I have enjoyed your videos and plan on watching all of them!! Have a great day!! Thank you for doing your videos! !
Really awesome to see behind the scenes of how small planes are serviced/upgraded. My uncle was always into aviation and took me up in his Cessna when I was young and since then I know his favorite hobby has been flying and maintaining smaller planes. I live too far away to really know 'exactly' what that entails so it's awesome to get an idea here.
I may have said this on one of your other videos, Stevie, but you are GORGEOUS, and so is that plane! I'm only an MSFS "pilot" (I've even got the V-Tail Bonanza), but that new autopilot you're getting is absolutely wonderful to use. Happy flying!
As someone who is not a pilot but works in the engineering side of aviation it is fantastic to see young ladies like this one. The spirit of amelia earhart lives on in a aviatrix like her!!
Congratulations on the Upgrade ! I don't fly but always wanted to Learn...... Watching these video's is A Great way to get Familiar. so Thank you for Sharing!!! Frank in Upstate N.y.
This is so, so satisfying to watch. Super professional pilot and also a great narrator! I'm dreaming of an upgrade like this on our -63 180hp Cherokee C...
The upgrade has been an absolute game-changer so far! The autopilot and yaw damper have made managing workload a lot easier, and all the engine info from the EIS definitely makes me sleep better at night, haha. Can't wait to show the final product - Neal did an amazing job of keeping the feel of my vintage Bo!
This looks like a huge step forward in safety and functionality. We upgraded our F33-A with a pair of Garmin G5's and a GFC-500 recently. Removing the vacuum system was a big improvement in reliability. You'll really like the GFC-500 for instrument departures. Align the heading with the runway, set a target climb speed and altitude to reduce the distractions on departure. Single pilot IFR is much better with a modern autopilot. Congratulations!
As always super video. You are going to absolutely love that auto pilot. I wish I had one in my airplane but I will have to stick with my S tec 30. I have about 30 hours using the GFC 500. What an incredible tool. Looking forward to the next video
You probably won't see this, but if you do, Thank you for posting these videos! I'm currently training for my private and have about 21 hours flight time. I'm running into some setbacks (Class 3 med related) and have recently had to take a break. I bought a Redbird simulator with MSFS 2020 to try to remain current though, rather than throwing hundreds at a CFI once a week just to keep from regressing. I'm sure I'll have my medical clearance and can solo eventually, it will just take a little time (FAA is no joke). Anyways, you and a few others were a huge inspiration for going for my PPL. So again, thank you for sharing this part of your life with us. I hope to one day be living the same dream as you and sharing it with my kids!
I learn so much about aviation from watching your channel, but mostly how enjoyable it is to be a pilot. 🛩 Thank you so much, Stevie! Keep your video's coming our way! 👍💖
So your spending more on the avionics upgrade than the purchase price of the aircraft itself. I love the fact you have an eye towards retaining the classic panel attributes. Excellent idea!
I've been waiting patiently for this video! Great new panel. Your IFR capability is going to be improved so much. Your single pilot IFR experience will be so much better, too! Great video.
Thanks so much, Zach! Best of luck with flight training - those first few flights are some of the most fun you can have in aviation! See you in the skies!
Nothing like an upgrade to instill a new level of excitement! I remember when I took my V35B in for its first upgrade [seems like yesterday, but was a long time ago]. Put a yaw damper, belly beacon, strobes on and went from a Century 1 a/p to a Century III. That was in 1981. It was like flying a different airplane, with the yaw damper. The Century III was like having a co-pilot on demand. George flying the plane is cool. Congratulations on the well laid out panel and avionics choices you've made! You'll be like a child in a candy store for a bit, for sure.
Yay!!! I bet your Bonanza is feeling super duper special and happy right now. Keeping the vintage look and feel of the panel was a really nice touch! Congratulations to you and to 21C. Best regards from Brasilia, Brazil.
I love watching your vids, and as usual I find your professionalism just incredible. Your knowledge of your plane, your communication skills, your operational awareness and the level of comfort and calm that you exude is uncanny to me. As always, thank you for sharing. :)
Happy for you seeing you excited about your Bonanza's upgrade. I have seen other pilots getting work done on there planes. Its a different type of video but find it quite interesting seeing the complexity of the planes. Looking forwards to your video when its all done.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos! You transmit so much happiness and joy. I hope you can do this for many years to come! And hopefully you can share a bit of that with us 😄
So good to see that you love your aircraft and it has a future in modern times! Every time I see you makes me smile especially the bond you have with the lovely aircraft hope you have a great future together!
You owe it to yourself to fly into Half Moon Bay Airport and visit our coastal paradise. The airport is about 4 miles North of the town. Lots of restaurants in the area, shopping and plenty to see and do. The famous surfing site, Mavericks is a stone's throw from the airport. We used to have something called "Dream Machines" once a year. Planes of all types including warbirds, show cars and anything with a motor were on display but I'm honestly not sure if we still have the event since Covid. This time of year the weather is almost always spectacular. The flight from San Carlos Airport to the coast can't be more than 20 minutes. If you have any questions, be glad to help.
This is really cool seeing an upgrade like this on a beautiful old classic aircraft such as yours will be interesting to see the changes that are made and when the Bonanza gets back in operation wishing all the best with the upgrade
One of the great mysteries of life is why it’s so enjoyable and satisfying to watch Stevie go through a checklist.
Classic engineering vocalized is like ASMR for engineers :)
Truly
New panel could slow her down a little for a few flights
When I was watching the first video I saw of Stevie and my wife walked in, quickly I said That's her airplane, and my wife said with a grin, And she is Pretty.

Thank you, Aubrey! My first instructor emphasized using the checklist and I'm glad he did! It's so important!
I wish most truckers did this never mind a walk around inspection before hopping into their rigs.
@@ph11p3540 that's why most trucks have computers in them.
That's amazing Stevie!!! So happy to see you back on TH-cam!!!😍 Congrats on your new install!!!!❤️
Thank you Chrissy!! Hope you enjoy the new video!
Hello
@@bayflight that Cessna plane is so awesome
Why is it such a joy to listen to her do pilot talk on the radio with tower and control
She has a wonderful voice.
I started flying classes when I was 16 but dropped them and basically forgot I even did them. Seeing you reignited that old interest. It's great to see another video from you Stevie. Thank you.

The way you verbalize your entire checklist every time, without fail, is awesome. I really enjoy your videos.

Thank you Charles! More on the way!
So glad to see you back at it. I am glad you appreciate the vintage plane and want to still keep the feel of it with the upgrades.
Love how you go through your checklist. Your discipline is very impressive (from a non-pilot).
I am happy to see a video pertaining to your care and maintenance of your 1952 Bonanza. It was really cool, thanks.
Wow...that is a very professional instillation. I love all the detail they are adding (added) to the new panel to retain the vintage look and feel.
That’s for the aviation content, Jessie. Love your checklist habits. Bet all those upgrades will make such a huge difference
Because I'm considered vintage as well I always appreciate young people like you who like the old school style. Also always enjoy your videos.
As a guy that's older than your airplane I really enjoy watching your adventures.
Good for you keeping it traditional in appearance. Planning to do the same with my ‘56 c180.

Haha I'm glad! Thanks for watching, Trevor!
I love the systems approach you take Stevie, it's clear that you take your flying seriously. The panels going to be great and I especially respect the effort to merge the new with the vintage nature of this flying machine.
Congratulations on the upgrades to come. Flying a classic stock has it's charms but nothing beats current tech for safety and comfort.
This is so, so satisfying to watch. Super professional pilot and also a great narrator! I'm dreaming of an upgrade like this on our -63 180hp Cherokee C...
I hope the upgrades make your Bonanza an even more enjoyable and safe plane. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for the model of Bonanza.
The upgrade has been an absolute game-changer so far! What a good idea upgrading it to modern instruments and that coyote had clearance on the runway
Always appreciate hearing ATC w/ your videos. Good luck with the upgrade.

I've been waiting patiently for this video! Great new panel. Your IFR capability is going to be improved so much. Your single pilot IFR experience will be so much better, too! Great video.
What did this cost? Is your UTube channel helping pay for it?
@@janaaj1an889 it costs so much, it’s not even funny.
I know nothing about planes other then they fly! You sound so excited so I’m excited!
I like how she talks through everything she does , -- I do the same thing -- all check lists and all changes
Just noticed the edison lights in the hanger. What a cool vibe it must have when the plane is parked, and the lights are on. Very nice Stevie.
Great to see you back again. Can’t wait to see the next video on the new install.
Congratulations to you both (I'm including 21C). Exciting!
quite mesmerizing every time i watch you do your checklist and run up. Super jealous of everything you've accomplished. Wishing to be a pilot one day.
Enjoy the nice upgrade! Well done, keep flying safely. You set a great example for all young pilots.
Hi Stevie I know you were busy but we all really missed you great to see you having fun

Thanks so much, Zach! Best of luck with flight training - those first few flights are some of the most fun you can have in aviation! See you in the skies!
Wow Stevie, you’re really going to have a great IFR traveling machine! Great video as always and looking forward to the next one.
That's going to be SO nice! Huge safety upgrades! Congratulations and Bravo on keeping your 1952 as original as possible!
So great to see you back and listen to your unmistaken checklist readout very unique to recognize. Looking forward seeing the new panel.

Ha that's awesome! I'll wave next time!!
Great to see your post! Can wait to see the final results! Enjoy your videos!
Thank you Pedro! Glad you enjoy the videos! More on the way!
Happy for you seeing you excited about your Bonanza's upgrade. I have seen other pilots getting work done on there planes. Its a different type of video but find it quite interesting seeing the complexity of the planes. Looking forwards to your video when its all done.
Nice surprise to fly with you this morning. New avionics! Yay!
Always a joy to watch you fly! Makes me feel like I'm flying again. Love your checklists, makes it real.
