Excellent interview. I love Peter's "What Bitcoin Did " podcast, but Peter/Danny hit an absolute mental wall they couldn't get past ("I don't want to equate Bitcoin to violence"). Robert doesn't have that block and so we can actually get into understanding Bitcoin as more than just future money, but as the first time humans have been able to transfer real power (Saylor says energy) into the digital realm.

Peter has somewhat of a point because gold was never seen as a weapon... it's just hard money. So is Bitcoin but better. Calling Bitcoin a weapon opens the door to interpretation in a nasty way - reasons to ban it because it undermindes the sovereignity of the state blah blah blah...

yes it was almost annoying seeing such a media pros like Peter and Danny could not abstract at all or understand pretty easy mathematical and physical concepts even after very clear explanations. a little bit of math on a daily basis would solve this fast i feel.

I like Peter, but WBD completely dropped the ball with their interview of J.L. It was frustrating bcuz I love those guys, but the entire thing was a constant stumbling over words or framings and every time ended with moral objections grounded out in belief systems about how humans "should" act. I've gotten a hundred times more out of this interview, J.L. was able to get out of surface level sentiment layer and reach the base layer security concerns around the logics of violence which I believe each individual should understand in this "peaceful revolution"... it's not a stretch to say that every single human in existence today is being actively enslaved into an open air prison by a narrow band of rulers (elected or not). WBD missed the boat entirely on this young mans thesis. thank you for allowing the argument to develop and reach coherence.

Wow- great stuff. Great job RB! I just received my copy of Softwar but haven't dived in yet. I keep finding videos of Jason explaining so I'm drawn in quickly - but this is by far the best long form discussion about the topic. The 'strangle-fig' metaphor is excellent; bitcoin slowly pushing out / taking over the fiat financial system. Bitcoin is much more important than we think. Side-note: I'm 60, an engineer & a bit-coiner, my 70+yr old brother and his engineer/pilot friends scoff at bitcoin. There is a certain age (born in 1950's) where the vast majority of people simply cannot fathom a new system even though they curse & scream at the current gov't money system (but we do have the Bill Millers, Tudor-Jones, Lepard etc). I will challenge them to watch this video

Major Lowery. Please read and study Ajax by Sophocles.
The character Ajax, a Greek hero of the Trojan War, ranted and raved publicly at King Agamemnon of Mycenae for not acknowledging his superior warrior prowess over King Odysseus of Ithaca. Odysseus’ protector, the goddess Athena, clouded Ajax’ judgment and sanity, leading to his suicide by falling on his own sword. That is a story that rings true of Billy Mitchell.
Your influence on the security posture of our nation is needed more as a doer than a publicist. Rather than mimic Mitchell, mimic Hyman Rickover.
Rickover was a terse asshole who forced the War Department and DoD, through asymmetric action, to adopt nuclear propulsion for primary U.S. Navy warships - submarines and carriers. Today, every US carrier and submarine is nuclear-powered because of his legacy and tenacity. Your cause is as important as Admiral Rickover’s to the future security and stability of the US. Unfortunately, neither public discourse nor DoD bureaucratic niceties will make that happen. You must act and lead asymmetrically as Admiral Rickover did. That means embracing lawmakers, NOT DoD officials or flag officers. Rickover would never have achieved the level of sophistication of US nuclear warships if he focused his work through DoD/JCS bureaucracy.
Rickover started his work as an O-6 during the Manhattan project. He first got educated, as you’re doing now. He then conceived the long-term project and validated the technical aspects of it. But he was nothing without funding. And every flag in the Army, Navy and Air Force hated his irascibility even though his mission was clear and focused. So, he bypassed them - went directly to Congress and sought funding directly. Billy Mitchell was a public nuisance and, arguably, set the promise of air power within the US military back several years because of his public and courtroom antics.
As an O-4 you’re pretty low on the totem pole. But start fostering relationships with Congressmen and their aides now. Further, search out the cyber tech wizard pools within the youth of the Officer corps of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Marines. Look to organizations like the “Center for Cyber Security Studies” at the U.S. Naval Academy. There are huge pools of intelligent, impressionable midshipmen and junior officers to join your cause from groups like these. You’ll find common cause among the professors and senior officers at these institutions also - they’ll be naturally inclined to consider BTC as a national security imperative that requires precedence of DoD over Fed/Treasury.
Finally, good luck. You’re bound to be the target of even more incoming torpedo, bomb, artillery and missile verbal salvos as you promote your case. Personally though, I believe that it’s Congress that should be your asymmetric play. Maneuver warfare within DoD/JCS is a fool’s errand. Best, CAPT, USN (RET)

For example, what’s the difference between the United States purchasing 1 bitcoin versus 5 million bitcoin in terms of securing whatever data it stores on the ledger? And how does the difference in purchase affect its power projection? And what type of national security information could be stored on the ledger?

We have a spiritual component which transcends nature and can also operate outside of its aggressive sphere. Wow this was an amazing interview. This guy is a young Saylor. MIT minds! Also agree that Robert should have millions of followers. I’ve listened to the saylor series multiple times recommend it to everyone. Finally starting to feel like the BTC boom is around the corner. 🤞

Other bitcoin podcasts helped me understand the first principles of money and to start reimagining from there all the way to the macro economics. This video, by looking at the first principles of computer science gave me a glimpse of how that ideological sound money becomes possible.
Bitcoin is so deceiving because it is so simple on the surface level. You think you know but you really don't understand until we do these deep dives. Amazing stuff.
