Long may the program be made, and for me each series get better and better. I personally cannot wait to watch. From watching Downton Abbey and the perils of WW1, it will be interesting to watch another show go through the horrors of WW2. I remember in the books he talks about being on a ship and everyone was sea sick except him and the cook. He said the cook loved him because at least he could eat and appreciate his efforts.
When Edward finally asked for the cookies and Mrs Hall tries to get them to him as the train is leaving and drops then and the lids come off and the cookies fall out, I was so sad and worried that was a prediction of the future. My heart went out to Mrs Hall she has become such a key character, tall like my Grandmother and always preparing food like my Grandmother too. Excellent video, writing and acting, setting, scenery and character chemistry is awesome. D

These are disturbing clips because the war will affect them all profoundly. They have no idea what's coming and how bad it will be and for how long. With the good writer and actors they have, it will provide a lot of potent stories to be told about life in the dales under constant threat from the Third Reich. How do you live out your only life fully and preserve everything possible of your culture. This is a serious question for all people in times of huge political upheaval where the stakes are very high.

Alf Wight, aka James Herriot, served in the RAF. So we know Herriot, the character, will come back safely in this series.
