Interesting perspective, mate! My last iPhone was the 7 Plus. I've been using Pixels (2XL, 3XL, 6 Pro, 7 Pro, 8 Pro) since 2017. I'm just tired of hoping the next iteration will fix all my problems with the Pixel -- battery life, buggy software, lousy FPS, build quality, to name a few. I'm ready for a change and will order a 16 Pro Max on Friday.
DAMN! Thanks for the love. I feel you on Pixels. I JUST got the 9 Pro XL cause I feel this is the first one worth getting. I am glad I did! Going to stick with my iPhone 15 Pro Max for now.
I feel the same. I switched to the Pixel after using an iPhone 12, but I regret not choosing a Samsung instead. The overheating issues and bugs I’ve encountered have made me hesitant to try the new Pixel 9. I think I’m done with Android for a while my experience with the Pixel has really soured me on it.
Samsung would have helped. Their phones last half a decade easily, and quality in build, battery, screen, antennas, and radios and stability is impressive
Starting my channel last year on an iPhone X, then getting a 15 Pro Max when the X couldn’t get the iOS 17 update, meaning I couldn’t get the Blackmagic Camera App (since Filmic was a sh*tshow of subscription fees) it really enabled me to step up my game a bit. But I don’t need the 16 pro or pro max simply because the 15 pro max does everything I need it to do, and I’ve grown to almost 500 subs and almost 1500 watch time hours, just using my phone and a video mic 2 and a dji mic 2. Not editing on my phone more than I have to (shorts and reels mostly in capcut, bigger things on a legion pc in davinci resolve studio) and that workflow is great, and offers enough quality to start a channel :) And the answer to «should I upgrade» is *really* simple: If you have to ask if you should upgrade, then you don’t need to upgrade - simple as that :) If you *need* to upgrade you *know* you need to upgrade ;)
@@Sids_life_advice Hi there :) I use a couple of different methods depending on what I filmed with. If I’m using Blackmagic Camera App I used to plug a USB C cable between phone and laptop and transfer via classic itunes software, but because of the bug/something with iphone 15 and 16 the speed is so slow I’ve started using an external SSD to get maximum transfer speed. Using Samsung T7 SSD I connect the phone to the SSD and transfer files from both blackmagic camera app and native ios photo/video library to the SSD, then I get the closest to 10gigabit transfer speed it’s possible to get. Then I just connect the SSD to the laptop and transfer them to the machine. You can also record directly to the SSD from the phone, but that isn’t always an option for me when I shoot all over the place handheld :)
Still using my 12 Pro Max, had no reason to upgrade as I'm very much not someone who needs the newest phone each year. However, the camera upgrade compared to what I have now is what is making me heavily consider the upgrade finally.
iPhone 12 Pro Max here. Upgrading to 16 black pro max 512gb. I’m good with every 4 years. That’s basically $250 per year of use. A bargain. Apple intelligence, better Siri, better camera, speed, software. Easy decision for me. Good luck with your choice!
Another 12 pro max user here, I’m in the same boat as @WheresWagner, i also upgrade every 4 years. My cameras trash and feel as thought I’ve gotten my use out of it. Good luck!
I’ve used my iPhone to pretty much capture all my content for my TH-cam videos for the past 3 years. So I’m one of those that look forward to the new one every year.
I just started content creation for travel and food. I’m trying to keep it simple when traveling so I just bring my iPhone and gimbal. I am upgrading from the 14 pro max for the upgraded “ four studio quality microphones”, the upgraded wide angle camera lens, the change to usb-c since I skipped the 15, upgraded my storage to 1tb since I am taking up so much space with video (and I don’t want to pay for iCloud storage). I hope that the 16 pro max lasts for three years of content creation until I upgrade again.
The iPhone 16 Pro feels made exactly for me, and I’m a 14 Pro user. The reason being is multifaceted, but the number one reason is the audio mixing feature. I don’t have all the equipment to record audio with, and the audio tricks I’ve used to remove background noise on my videos sound like I’m underwater. I’m also a big photography nerd too, and there are a number of features my 14 Pro don’t have compared to the 15 and 16. My position is a very distinct one.
As an iphone 14 pro user I think there are enough features in the 16 pro to upgrade. USB C is an underated upgrade and unfortunately to maximize the investment it will also enable Apple AI
I always upgrade yearly and sell my old phone on ebay. I can totally understand the perspective of not wanting to spend money every year but from my perspective if I'm selling my phone from last year.. I'm only spending a few hundred on the new one, so it's not even like I'm paying full price and also as more time goes by the current phone you have will lose value, so for me I might as well just sell it now while i can get the most I can for it and then get the new device.
