In today's video we review 3 common considerations you should be thinking about before you run to your secretary of state's office to set up your LLC.

    Hello Jim, I'm a Brazilian corporate/business lawyer, and recently I've found your TH-cam channel.
    It is a great way to understand the basics of how law works in the USA, and the differences and similarities with Brazilian law.
    I know that it's only one tiny percentage of what it is, but now I have a minimum to continue to study more. Your videos are very clear and direct, what helps a lot. Thank you.
    If you need anything from Brazil, feel free to ask. Have a great day.
    Best regards.

    Thank you for making this.
    Your advice of making the llc name independent of the brand name was a huge help in moving forward.

    Hi Jim, thanks for your videos, you make clear and concise content. Question - Since the LLC and the trademark (being a website in my case) are two separate entities, is it enough to use the LLC name in the privacy policy page of the website to make the latter part of the LLC, or how do you include the website as part of the LLC? Thank you.

    Do you need to file or have a DBA for that Starbucks example? Your trademarked (brand name) is different from LLC name

    Great Video!!! I heard you say in one of your videos that most people make the mistake of getting an LLC when they have no revenue or no customers. So, my question is would you recommend a person starting a vending machine business to wait until they for sure have a pretty decent amount of customers before filing for an LLC?

      Not necessarily. Every business is unique. Feel free to schedule a consultation to discuss. hawthornlaw.net/consult

    In Hawaii, the minimum I can make on a job is 1500 as an unlicensed "handyman", even though I'm a painter who named his LLC a painting company. I am in the process right now of obtaining my C33 license.
    Do you think my LLC submission will be denied because I'm not licensed yet? Within 2 months I will be. I planned on only doing small side jobs until I am licensed, even with handymans liability insurance.
    Hopefully I didn't just throw 250 out the window.

    Is it enough to register your trademark or service mark with the State?

    • @jimhart
      @jimhart  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends, but in my opinion most situations call for a federal trademark, which will always pre-empt a state trademark.
