  • This is a quick video to share the quickest, cheapest and fastest way I have found to de lime scale my kettle. I only use lemon juice and nothing else. Sorry about the quality I only had my phone to use as a camera.

    Aaw. You are a STAR! I have been using lemon slices in water to clean my kettle but the scale was still there. Now using neat lemon juice worked like a charm. I had to use a bottle brush to scrape off scale but it came off so easily. You ROCK

    I bought a glass kettle yesterday. And the metal base was stained this morning. I only used it about 5 times last night! I took photos of what I thought to be a cheap kettle lying by claiming to be stainless steel. But I just did your lemon juice trick and it looks like new again! Thank you Matthew. I guess I live in a hard water area.

      Amperzand I think unfortunately that these type of kettles are susceptible to lime scale and it just depends on how hard the water is in your area

    Thanks for making this video. I had no idea how to clean my kettle and saw other videos with overnight soaking etc, but your method only took a matter of seconds to do! Amazing.

      In metalsmithing we use a mild heated acid solution to clean fire scale from silver and copper metals. I would be interested if your rust is removed by the hot lemon juice. I like your chances.

    • @TippyMueller
      @TippyMueller 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      By mild acid solution I mean lemon juice with salt added or a solution with food grade citric acid like the kind used for canning mixed with water. We put it in a crock pot called a "pickle." Of course, after soaking our metals, these utensils would not be used for food any longer because of the stuff that comes off the metal. Point being that the hot lemon juice will probably clean your rust.
