    My kettle looked terrible with scale build up. I tried scrubbing without success. I followed instructions in this video and it worked brilliantly! Kettle looks like new! Thank you so much for your helpful video.

    I have been scrubbing the inside of my kettle for years, often with disappointing results and an hour of work.
    Thank you for showing this tip. I now have a kettle that looks brand new! Thanks again.

    My kettle came out sparkling ✨, best to leave the kettle for a few hours or overnight, you can also use lemon juice thanks for the video 👍

    what about the outside? lots of water stains, not sure if a detergent is best

    • @blazereho811

      I had crumbs and stuff on the outside of mine. I took the smallest amount of dish soap that I possibly could on my hand and lathered that up on the outside on the glass/plastic, but didn’t go onto the metal (that way it’s not close to the heating element on the bottom). It didn’t lather up too much, if that helps you get an idea of the water-to-soap ratio. I know you’ve probably figured out a solution by now, but I thought I’d reply in case you haven’t or in case someone has the same issue :)

    ... Or buy citric acid granules, for instance off of "auction" sites etc, 6-8 teaspoons in that size kettle, boil and let stand, rinse and dry, no scrubbing, you can buy good amounts for a few pounds or dollars. (Lemons are citric acid natural form)

      leewink thanku I’m going to try this as my hand can’t fit in my kettle. The lemon worked very well but left a bit of the lime scale so this is very helpful

    • @leewink
      @leewink 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mararoxa3152 It won't leave any, if anything, grab yourself a long handled scrub brush to reach in, sometimes I do this just to reach the top inside obviously where the liquid can't touch when full even, but only literally to dust it on, shouldn't need scrubbing, a little time for it to react thats all. Out of interest, you can use this method to re-fresh stainless pans when they get a film of scale taking the shine away, and I use it to wash through coffee makers, very good de-scaler that manufacturers make good money from, no need. We buy a good sized bag of the crystals here, maybe a kilo at a time, a few pounds or dollars, keeps well in an airtight tub / pot etc. Just remember it is an acid, so be careful around porcelains etc, obviously use protective gear if you need to as well. You can boil the kettle with it in there too, again though be careful of splashes, I do this every time though, the hotter the better.

      Citric acid doesn't damage porcelain/glass/enamel. You can clean toilet and sink with acid. It may tarnish weaker exposed metals like aluminum, or golden decorations on porcelain (those wouldn't have lime anyway).
      Boiling vinegar is nasty if it gets into the eyes or on paint. Citric acid is much less so. Careful boiling any acid.
      On the market food grade citric acid costs €3/kg, and is sold near spices and fermented vegetables.

    Coke a cola works well to descale the inside of a kettle, also cleans the inside bowl of your toilet too.... 🍪pocket uk.

      How do you apply the coke? Do you fill part way, or all way in the kettle? Do you leave it for how long and scrub after? Or is no scrubbing needed ?

    How many hours should i leave the boiled water ??

    • @AffordableKitchenandBaths
      @AffordableKitchenandBaths  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wait until the water is fully boiled. When the water fully boiled the kettle will automatically turn off. Let the solution be in the kettle for 1-2 hours so that the solution might be cool down. After that, start cleaning. Thanks

    Do not submerge an electric kettle in water like this. Quickest way to ruin your product.

    This is too much work. Fill kettle with white vinegar to cover your "water marks" and let it boil and cool. That's it. It will remove all stains and water marks and limescale. You don't need to scrub anything. Bye.
