    ❤ your comments on the different jaspers. Many years ago, 1960's- 1990's cut-polished a variety of the jaspers that you talked about in this video. I also ❤ jaspers. The tiger-iron you showed reminded me of a slab I had that when I let my imagination loose, I saw 'tall buildings' in a landscape & so cut a couple to represent that. Jaspers let our imaginations roam, more so than agates, with the exception of Montana moss agates which can create a visual picture. I know because I cut-polished one, on both sides, over 50 years ago.

Because I'm so new to rockhounding I thought they only came in red, yellow and green until recently haha - I used to only pick up the pieces that were all jasper thinking that those that had chalcedony or inclusions were no good...sigh if only those jaspers had waited for me to learn more...

    This was so interesting; thanks! I collect unusual-looking rocks right on my son's property here in the SW part of The Big Mitten and try to identify them. I suspect that some of my favorites are jasper so look for all the help I can find to ID my collection. This is some sort of pocket of a vast variety of stones that are 'supposed' to be in Canada and the UP! Lots of coral fossils too and 4 'stone' clam shells. Sheesh, this rock-picking thing is SO addictive.

  • @r.awilliams9815
    @r.awilliams9815 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Yup, the snakeskin jasper turned the oil in my saw brick red.🤨
    Serape jasper was my guess as well.
    You can find red orbicular jasper in Washington State on the Olympic Peninsula. Currently Rockhounding has a video of his trip to the Skokomish River where he found some nice chunks.
    Leopardskin jasper is really a rhyolite , which is why it's softer than normal jasper...which leads to a mini-rant. A lot of material is called jasper when it isn't. Stop it! I'd tired of getting soft material that won't polish worth a darn.
    I gotta get some of that Royal Jasper.
    The Noreena is just gorgeous, isn't it?😀
