Hey Taylor i just got a hi-tech flat lap and i am having a problem not sure what to do. I use the 80 grit to get my slabs flat but when i go to next grit i have to reflaten the stone with that grit. It grinds in the center like the center is high. Is it something i am doing wrong?
I started taking my kids mining when my oldest was 5 and my youngest was on my back at 1 💪⛏️❤️ I now am the proud owner of umteen THOUSAND heart shaped rocks and many septors, beautiful vugs with clear and milky quartz crystals…. I am a nurse and when i see the cut rocks, they always remind me of a body part. That blurry mozambique looks like an Xray of a kidney. LOL!

Wow, some real beauties. O love Malawi mossy agates. The Moroccan ones were amazing. Mozambique with the hint of amethyst…yes! The ice cave is so unique! The double Botswana agate and the one with the platelets!!! Awesome!

Amazing agates, so much variation, so many colours, the one with the bright green moss at the bottom, the platelets...the snow scene, so many were strongly 3D too. Loved seeing each and every one!

Moroccan agates are some of my favorite. The banding variety and colors are a delight!
I love African agats. I bought some cut Geodes when in Morocco, they are so lovely. No Agats but one geode have grey sparkling, small tentacles inside and one is whitish/yellow and like sparkling glass-pieces inside, they are so beautiful. And I also bought some fossils. Nice to watch thank you.
Do people send you their found agates or do you purchase them raw to cut and polish? These are beautiful! I love the, “God’s fingerprint” way of describing them. Couldn’t agree more!

Hi, AD! New, ignorant rockhound here! Really enjoying and binging on your channel. But l feel dumb as a stump. Took geology, have a ton of rock ID books, bowls of stones, but still can't figure out how to tell a good rock from a meh rock. Working on it. My uncle lived in Seattle,, had a saw, huge tumbler, a rock workroom, pails of stones everywhere. He and my aunt traveled everyplace. Brazil for amethysts, Australia for opals, crystals in Arkansas...once, they were hunting rubies in a low creek in Burma, looked up, and there were tribesmen watching, who did NOT want them there-despite permission. I live in an area rich in geodes and am trying to figure those out, too. Sorry to run on, but so glad l found your channel! 🌻

another satisfying video, thanks A.D.!.. here's an idea for that Botswana with the pocket and fractures (so nice apart from that).. cut into smaller pieces and put in a rock tumbler? Not sure if you wanna get into all that, but I love perfectly smooth Botswana nuggets, even small ones..
So the first Botswana you cut brought out the Trekkie in me. Reminds me of the character Qwark's ears from Star Trek Deep Space 9!

Would you be able to cut the perimeter of the agates before cutting through totally…possibly reducing the breaking or shattering of the stones?

I think the variety of Agates us what makes them cool.
Where do you get your nodules from? Most of what I can find is broken rough and I don’t get to plan out cuts so much as avoid fractures and defects. Don’t want GPS coordinates for your rock hounding sites! But I assume for African agates you purchased them from a supplier of some sort.

For that one agate that really fractured making it a rough edge on both sides, can’t you slice off that roughness to get to a new clean surface? I’m not a cutter and I’m somewhat new to agets, but it seemed like it would make sense.

I am left wondering what do you do with the rocks that have been cut.? Do they sit on a shelf or do they become jewellery? Also wondering how they get their design or colours. How many have you in your inventory ? Or collection? What is an average cost of the cutting machine?
