  • Paperwhites are popular plants to gift in the holiday season. Most people throw away the bulbs once they finish blooming. This video shows how you can rebloom those bulbs year after year.

    thank you very much for the video. all the others give information on how to force the plant and discard after blooming but nobody explains how to look after flowering. Thank you very encouraging.

    Thank you so much for this followup video! It is my first year growing paperwhites, and I don't feel like throwing them away like they are garbage after bloom. I will give them the second chance they deserve (as long as I don't accidentally kill them 😜) and your tutorial is really helpful!

    Thank you so much for the follow up video. I think it such a waste to throw away the bulb and you gave me hope to replant for future blooms!

    Thank you for your video -I never had paperwhites before and I want to keep them growing and living so I will do what you show in this video and hopefully see some pretty flowers again next season.

    Question - my paper whites are done blooming - they grew very tall and I need to do something with them - the greenery is very tall right now and I am constantly trying to keep them from flopping over. My thought is to replant 2 smaller pots together in one larger pot, and can I trim the very tall green leaves so they aren't so tall without hurting the plant? Later when it's warm enough I will put them outside.

      You can trim the bloom stalks but do not trim the leaves. They collect energy for the bulbs for next season. In the next season, may be give them a little more sunlight.

      Ok, thank you, my plants are on the south side they get lots of sunlight so they grow real nice. I will just have to figure a better way to support the leaves. More stakes and completely tying them together from the outside.

    How do they propagate?
    Will they make more bulbs that can be divided?
    Thank you for your videos!

    • @EasyPeasyGardening
      @EasyPeasyGardening  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they make more bulbs by themselves and you can divide them

    Yes, thank you for this follow up. If I had seen everything died back I would have thought I did something wrong! Now I know that is normal.

    Thank you Easy Peasy for both parts of this video session. I have for years now, forced paperwhites in water during winter and am now excited to save my most most recent crop for the following year - with the techniques you've outlined. Please, though - what about the months when not watering the bulbs (when they are dormant) what conditions should I keep them in...more specifically, can they be inside somewhere cool, away from sunlight, just drying out?

    • @EasyPeasyGardening
      @EasyPeasyGardening  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on your zone. I am in zone 9 and they stay either in planters or in ground all year long. If the ground freezes where you live, you can move the planter inside or if they are in ground, you need to dig them up, dry them and store in a cool place around 60 degrees F

    Is it better to plant it in soil to begin with? Will keeping it in soil for multiple years cause insect issues? I'm glad to know that I don't have to throw them away. Thank you.

    • @EasyPeasyGardening
      @EasyPeasyGardening  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They stay healthy in soil. If you buy it in water then transplant into soil after they finish blooming

  • @plantsandcarrots5233

    The bulbs will make additional babies under the soil if you leave them in the dirt until the end of August. That's how the bulb companies make bulbs. Don't throw anything away.

    I got my paperwhite around December and just repotted it in March. I remember u saying u stopped watering yours after 8 to 10 weeks. Should I do the same and then wait till the winter to start wondering? Not sure if that would be too long to not water. Also, how often do u water the paperwhite?

    • @EasyPeasyGardening
      @EasyPeasyGardening  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Water till the time they have green leaves. Once the leaves die down, stop watering. Keep an eye on them in November December because that's when they start to sprout again and at that time start watering them
